"Aw, hell," Jericho grumbled under his breath. He didn't mind talking to these people and all, but escorting people to Rivet City for free was pushing his boundaries a bit. Jericho had been looking forward to some more idle time around Megaton. Trudging back out to Rivet City so soon wasn't quite worth it for free, especially after all the trouble they seemed to run into on the way there and back. Ceara seemed keen, though, so he supposed he'd have to go along with it. Babysitting vaulties wasn't his idea of a good time. Simon looked like he could hold his own, but the other one, Mary... the recoil of a pistol could probably knock her on her ass.
Mary grimaced, but it wasn't at Ceara's suggestion, just at the conversation in general. She'd been lucky that she hadn't run into any trouble on her way here, and they were talking about getting to that city that she'd been warned was dangerous journey. It was probably for the best if she stayed here, safely tucked behind the metal walls. If people managed to live out here day to day, surely she could manage it? It seemed like most of her knowledge was unequivocally worthless, which was disheartening to say the least.
"Yah can get parts f'yah gun at Craterside," Jericho said, "Won't be open again 'til mornin', though. I know her deal," he jerked a thumb at Arlington, raising an eyebrow at Simon, "But what n'fuck d'yah need at Rivet City? Weren't any vaulties there when we was there. No offense, but I'm bettin' most vaulties wouldn't survive a trip through the tunnels, crazy powers a'othawise."
He noticed Mary's increasingly morose expression and tapped the table to get her attention, rattling bottles and glasses together. She looked up at him in mild alarm, shrinking back slightly.
"Yah should go with 'em t'Craterside t'morrah," he told her, "I bet Moira could get yah workin'. She loves quiet people."
Ceara thought that babysitting vaulties could definitely be Jericho's idea of a good time, given that it was the right vaultie and the right playtime. She leaned in towards him as he started to grumble and cupped her hand around his ear starting to whisper. "I want to go to the ruins again and hit up the library, then maybe go by Robco for parts. I have something in mind and I think it could set us up for life. And if it doesn't it'll make life much more comfortable." she purred into his ear and then gave it a lick. "What's the harm of taking them to Rivet City on our way, if that's where they wanna go."
She sat back after whispering and then looked from Mary to the others with a soft sigh. She thought maybe that Mary could help with her plan, if she had heard right Mary had some electrical wiring experience and Simon could definitely give her a hand, but she could build it on her own if she just got the schematics, she was sure of it. Mary could stay behind if she wanted though, Ceara didn't care. She refilled her own glass and took another sip, then idly lounged against Jericho's side.
"Yeah, Jericho's right, you should both hit up craterside."
Jericho's affirmation that no vault dwellers had made their way to Rivet City according to his knowledge did little to affect Simon in any obvious way, though a weight dropped into his stomach. Dread. If those that had left hadn't made it to Megaton OR Rivet City, where were they?
"There's not harm in seeing the place for myself. Besides, I already told Trouble over here that I'd go with her." Simon gestured idly with his head to Arlington a few seconds after she touched him, but continued in firm dedication to work on his sun, dropping the orange to move in for the blue he'd used earlier, starting to make puffy clouds in the same area. Coloring really was sort of fun.
Simon's eyes moved to Ceara at the whisper, wondering what "something" she had in mind, exactly. He imagined it had something to do with the topic earlier, the conversation they were going to have later, apparently, and left it at that. "Craterside, hm? What sort of a price range are we lookin' at?"
