Entry tags:!complete, day 17, location: museum, nymphadora tonks, remus lupin

Who:  Remus Lupin & Nymphadora Tonks
What:  Remus goes out to meet with Tonks.
Where:  Outside the Museum
When:  Day 17, 8:39am
Rating:  PG
Status:  Complete

After having had Rose and her father the Doctor check him over until they were satisfied he was as healthy as was possible, the still-bloody young werewolf was thanking them and carefully moving outside, lifting his eyes up to check the sun, since the clock didn't work, and he wasn't wearing his watch. It'd been left back at Hogwarts. He'd miss it, he liked the feeling of it on his wrist. And it was with this thought that he was rubbing his covered wrist, (long sleeves were a savior for bruised and battered boys) and starting down the steps of the museum. He had agreed to meet Miss Tonks this morning, but was hoping he'd be able to make it to the thrift store and find something that wasn't blood stained to wear. He didn't want her worrying over him too. Worrying for no reason, in his opinion.

Once he got to the bottom of the steps, he was looking up again, and trying to remember if the thrift store was left... or right.

Tonks was both excited and worried that her friend was here. Mostly worried even though she was wearing a smile. It was the first real smile for the last few days, but that was sort of understandable yes? Yes, she thought so. But she was worried this was her friend as a kid. Not exactly a kid, but still. Whoever was in charge had a fucked up sense of humor. Having spent all day yesterday trying to get Luna's wand to work, the blonde-haired girl (blonde because she wasn't quite up to snuff, but needed to have a bit of colour) and then finding out that Remus Lupin was here..well, Tonks needed to get out. See him and stuff. She was walking down the street and looked around, then realised that Remus wouldn't recognise her. Which was a weird thought.Shaking her head at that, the witch headed down the street toward the museum. There was a motion of hands, making sure that she had both the broken wand and her journal, and caught sight of someone. Good Merlin, he looked so young. Coming up to him, she gave the younger Lupin a smile.

"Wotcher, Remus."

He looked young, but tired, and there were already small streaks of gray in his pale hair. The gauze that covered his cheek had a small spot of blood on it, and the front of his shirt had some dried blood stains-- likewise, the gauze of the back of his hand was soaked red, but she'd know from experience with him that these wounds looked bad, but really weren't. He was used to it, for years he'd gone through this. And he had an amazing tolerance for pain.

A small smile traced across his face when the blonde woman spoke his name. Ah, that had to be her. "Good morning, Tonks." He had experience calling people by their last names, though it felt strange because she was an adult, he felt he should put a 'Miss' in front of it, but she'd told him no. So he finished coming down the steps to meet her and extended out a hand. "I'm very pleased to meet you in person, though I suppose you've already met me, haven't you? I would be very interested to hear about where you come from, the war you're involved in? If you wouldn't mind explaining it to me." Messing with time, Nymphadora.. the Doctor would smack you if he were here to hear this -- both of them.

Out of habit, dark eyes moved over him in silent assessment of what happened. And eyebrows were drawn downward briefly. Also second nature was the hug that she wrapped him in. It often came as a surprise to the older Remus, but that was only because he wasn't used to it quite yet. "Reckon I'll be able to make the old jokes about myself now." Said with a laugh as she pulled away.

"Nice t'meet you too." Said with a nod, "Was it a full moon? They didn't get you, did they?" Please note that Tonks was extremely good at skirting issues when she needed to. Like now! The witch knew that there were rules for the time stuff, and knew better than to break them. Too much.

He was clearly surprised when she ignored his hand and instead moved in for a hug, wrapping her arms around him and pulling his body in close-- he was taller than her already, a solid five feet, seven inches. He'd grow, in the next few years.. but as for right now? He was the shortest of his group of friends. Sirius and James never let him hear the end of it. But when she finally released him, he cleared his throat and smoothed his hands over his shirt, as if to press out any wrinkles.. then lifted his eyes back up to her. "You're not old." He assured her calmly, a darker tint now resting on his cheeks.

But then she'd asked about the full moon and the tint went away as all the blood rushed from his face. She knew. Of course she knew. She was from the future. Stupid werewolf. But he was shaking his head some. "No one got me, but I'm fine." He'd gotten used to telling everyone that. He was fine. Don't worry, he could take care of himself, though he certainly didn't look it.

So serious still. Some things apparently would never change. Though she did like the moments that he caught her with some joke or another. He wasn't a Marauder for nothing, Tonks supposed. Chuckling, the young woman tilted her head a bit. "Well, thanks. Though it's still amusing to think about." Her being older.

At his protest not to worry, she gave him a wry humoured look. "I tend ta worry a bit. You're my friend, so it is too necessary." Young enough to still have that so there tone to her voice, Tonks seemed to have had this debate before. But she was smiling so it was in good nature. She looked him over again and then nodded slightly. "Let's get some new clothes, yeah? How did you get here? When?" Since she was in whatever the fuck she was in, Tonks had no idea. Another motion of her head given, "There's a thrift shop."

Already, her rain was moving and trying to figure out what they could do for the full moons here.

The werewolf was dressed like he'd just come out of a seventies movie.. so he certainly knew there was a thrift shop.. well, then again. He had come directly from the seventies, so they could have easily been his clothes. They fit well enough. "I'm not sure how, I just woke up in the forest with two others. And here I am." He shrugged up his less injured shoulder and smiled over at her, that more quiet, gentle sort. "I arrived yesterday morning.. Rose Tyler was nice enough to allow me to spend the evening with she and her friend." Who was definitely not her father.. he was still embarrassed about that.

But he was turning to begin walking with her, towards the thrift shop. She clearly knew the way. "How long have you been here? And I'd still like to hear about where you're from, if it won't be a bother to ask." Curious werewolf. If there were a book, he'd simply read it.. but there wasn't. So here he was, pressing for information.

That was what she was figuring. It had been, after all, about 1976 for him right? "I've been here bout a week now?" Tonks shook her head then, "Too long, really." Her smile waned a little at that.

Hand came up to her hair, shaking it up. "Well, you become a professor for a bit. An' I meet you two years after that. At Grimmauld." She thought about that, laughing a little. "Actually, I met you first at the Ministry. You were talkin' with Kingsley Shacklebolt?"

"A week?" He seemed a little surprised, then let out a slow breath. They might just be stuck here for the long term.. and that would create quite a bit of trouble. But he was shaking his head some to put that thought from his mind.

"Professor? At Hogwarts?" A little smile played at his lips. That sounded quite appealing, actually.. and he didn't doubt that Dumbledore would allow him back for just that. It was sort of exciting, really. "Grimmauld? Sirius' home? How do we end up meeting there?" Why would they be at Sirius' house? Remus had never been there, nor James-- anyone, really. Sirius wouldn't bring his friends there, he liked them too much. "I'm afraid I don't know a Kingsley Shacklebolt.. not yet, anyway." But he was pleased that he would, some day. Maybe he'd have plenty of friends later in life. That was an encouraging thought.

"Really! From what I hear, you're an incredibly keen one too." The older (younger) woman smiled in return, amused by that light smile. "Should do that more often." Smile, Tonks meant though she didn't say that and was already on to other subjects.

"Mm, a week. Sometimes it's quiet..but that's sorta the calm before storms." Tonks had trailed off there, reaching in her back pocket to touch the broken wand. A small frown appeared as she wondered about the laws of time travel again. If they died here..did that mess up their real timelines? Mm. Then hands stuffed in her pockets and she was on another tangent. "He lives there. We all come an' go." Then she was looking over again, "Tell me about you lot in school!"

He'd heard her, but wasn't sure what she'd meant by 'do that more often', so wasn't really able to respond.. because she was speaking again just a second later. Calm before the storm? Remus knew all about that.. "We come and go from his home just like that?" It didn't seem probable, but then again.. his parents were rather old. But surely his brother, Regulus, would be getting the house, and not him. He'd always thought it strange that such haughty purebloods lived between muggles..

"About us? There's not really much to tell." There was tons to tell, of course, but he wasn't sure what she did know, and what she didn't know, and what should and shouldn't be told. If she didn't know Sirius was an animagus, then he didn't want to blurt out that he was nearly done learning the spell.. he didn't want to give up any important secrets that could harm something in the future.

"Well, not anyone, course. But those who the Secret Keeper told then yeah." Tonks looked over again, rather strangely in fact. But then it dawned on her. Only sixteen. He didn't even know about the Order. That caused a slightly pained look to cross over expressive features. Really oughtn't be talking with him at all, Nymphadora. Tonks stopped abruptly, nearly toppling over for her own shortness in motion, and really stared at him for a minute.

Then, just as suddenly, she was sunny again. Mostly because Remus had a way of doing that to her. And a way of sort of driving her insane, but that was how relationships..friendships and other things..worked, she supposed. Enough of that, Tonksy. Back to him. "Cheek fibber." About there being nothing to tell. "Finished with naughty spells yet?" Meaning the other boys and their animagus abilities. "Siri fast becomes my favourite puppy. As a child."

When she stopped so abruptly, Remus came to a halt too and looked over at her curiously, the expression shifting all of his facial features as he did. It was something that he'd lose (or, cover up) as he got older. Strange, now, to see it on his face. This was a younger, happy version of the werewolf, Nymphadora. It would have been ideal to see him in his element in Hogwarts, during the happiest years of his life.. but here, in this glass prison? It wouldn't be quite as remarkable. But it was still different enough. "You likely shouldn't be talking with me about it, should you? Being a future event and all." He smiled then, to show her he understood.. but it didn't mean he wouldn't press for more information, later.

"Naughty spells?" He questioned with a small frown, before it dawned on him what she meant, with the puppy comment, and he smiled a bit. "Nearly. They're still working on it.. he becomes a dog, then? Funny, I thought he'd be some sort of cat, he's always preening and polishing and getting into spats.. What does James become? And Peter? I think Peter'd be a rabbit, of some sort. Something cuddly and gentle. Unassuming. James? Oh, I don't know. I think he'd be the dog, always chasing after Lily the way he does. I'm surprised she hasn't decked him yet. I would have." There you go, Tonks. Just get him talking, and you'd experience something new all together with your Professor.

A natural at paying particular attention to the way people acted and reacted, she noticed immediately the subtle changes here and there. Or rather, noticed what would later change because of future events and circumstances. Really, it made her want to hug him again. If nothing else, they were friends. But instead, she leaned in to slightly nudge him in thanks. "Yeah, there's these rules an' all.." She trailed off though and smiled brilliantly, "Which, if you're lucky, I can find where to bend." There were places to follow rules and places to bend them. Youthful Tonks found ways to dance merrily on the line when she could.

"Mm! He's a bit of a cockadoo, innit he? Sirius, I mean. And would you really! Punch someone chasing you so?" She looked over, laughing.

Clever girl. Rules were made to be bent, according to Remus-- where as his friends believed they were made to be broken. Definitely not the werewolf's philosophy. They were there for a reason, after all. But when she prompted about Sirius, Remus just smiled a little and nodded, turning his eyes away to look forward. "He is. They all are."

When she asked about punching someone, Remus actually laughed softly and shook his head. "No. I wouldn't. But if I weren't me, and I were Lily? I'd like to think that I might. James has been hounding her for years.."

"Well, if you have the thought now..while you are you..then maybe you've more spunk than you give yourself credit for." The laugh of his was met with a smile. Then she lifted up her eyebrows in a I know something you don't know manner.

By Tonks' figuring, letting Remus know a few things about his friends (the good parts) wouldn't be ruining too much. If he did happen to go back with this sort of knowledge, then at least he'd only be able to chortle knowingly while James and Lily had their spats. "What if I told ya the hounding paid off?"

And sure, Remus would know.. but he also understood exactly what was going on with this big time mess.. And he certainly wouldn't be telling anyone else about any of this. Even if he had the knowledge.

But it was, of course, impossible to not let knowledge about yourself change you, or what you might do in the future. But as Tonks said that, about the hounding paying off, Remus looked up, somewhat surprised.. then he smiled a little. "James wins her over, does he? Do they get married? Have children?" Oh, that would have been wonderful, knowing his friends got together in the end. It'd be like a fairytale.. granted, a bad one that no parents in their right mind would ever tell their children.

But still a fairytale.

Sadly, fairy tales didn't always have happy endings. But Tonks would only go so far before darting back into skirting topics. She chuckled quietly, amused by his reaction. "You seem surprised bout that. How come?" A nod was his answer as to whether they got married and had children. A child, at least.

"Mm. Snape becomes a professor too, yanno. I actually had him. Right old git, that one." Incredibly frustrating and irritating. "Made me so nervous that one time I spilled enlarging potion all over the place. Including his nose." As she remembered this, snickering, the witch was motioning with her hand over her nose. Which grew from normal size to Snape size with her retelling of the story.

"Only because I can distinctly remember Lily telling me that she'd rather marry me than him." That had a smile curling at his lips and he shook his head some. He missed her. He missed all of his friends.

"Severus does?" First name basis. But then again, Tonks knew that already. She'd witnessed it before. "He's not that bad." That was said more quietly, but it wasn't something he'd go further in to, because he didn't want to start a fight. No, that was something Lupin would avoid at all costs with his friends. Always. One day, it'd be all of their downfalls. If he'd just spoken up when Sirius had begun avoiding him.. maybe he wouldn't have been so distrusted, maybe Peter would have never been the secret keeper, maybe it would have been Remus, or remained Sirius. And Lily and James would still be alive. But they'd never know, and Remus knew nothing of that yet.

However, when her nose grew, his eyes widened some. "That's.. you're a metamorphmagus?" Oh yes, brilliant little Remus knew all about your kind, Tonks. He had a book and everything. Right next to his book about werewolves.

Tonks grinned at that thought, Lily Lupin. Somewhere in her ever-kinetic brain, there was the grim thought of where the world would have been without Harry Potter. Or whether it would have been Harry Lupin who became the champion boy. But What-If games weren't something to think about right now. Mostly because if she did, then Tonks would blurt out something that she oughtn't. Luckily, they were changing subjects.

Remus' defense of Snape neither surprised nor bothered the witch. She was used to it. "He's..Snape. A horrible git, but good for the lot of us I reckon." The Order. Of course, this was even before the sudden but inevitable betrayal. A sheepish grin appeared, and she stared at the Snape nose cross-eyed to make it go back to normal. "Yeah, I am." Tonks sounded genial, even proud, about that.

There was a lull in the conversation for a moment, then she continued. "Gave Mum and Dad a right start. Siri found it ace, of course." She paused, tilting her head slightly. "I remember once that you and he came over, and I was upset over something. So upset that I couldn't stop hiccuping, and my nose kept changing without me wanting it to. You were right helpful with that." Because he understood all too well the inability to control changing. She smiled then, thinking about the older Remus, and chuckled at herself before letting the conversation carry forth.

"I've never met a metamorphmagus before." He admitted with a little smile. "You're the first one, and a credit to your kind, if you don't mind me saying." As they were nearing the Thrift Shop, he slowed his pace some, but stepped forward to open the door for her and waited silently for her to go inside, before he followed.

"Are the two of us very good friends, in the future?" He couldn't imagine himself becoming very friendly with someone so much younger than he-- he could be her father. Nearly, if she was the age she said she was, and he was the age she said he was, in her time.

The blonde hair took on a pink tinge, blushing for the otherwise fair skinned girl. "Well, thanks then." Since she was the only metamorphmagus that she knew, it was a big compliment. A quirky little look was given at the manners that obviously wasn't just an age thing, smile appearing, and Tonks slipped into the thrift store. Recalling what had happened in said thrift store with Dean Winchester made the youthful witch's hair go even brighter.

His question brought her back to earth and Tonks smiled brilliantly. "I like to think we are! I dunno, you're so very polite that you could hate me and I'd never know." Teased lightly. And then she was looking at Remus with a bemused sort of smile. "An' no, you're not that old!" Heading off that debate before it started! If he was going to be her father, he'd have been a very young one. Thirteen years wasn't that far!

"Well, it's good to know that spending so many years with Sirius and James doesn't strip me of that." His politeness, that was. If he was that old and had spent that many years with the influence of those two? There was no telling what he might turn out to be! Look at what they'd done with the sweet, innocent boy, who was loathe to get into trouble. They'd turned him into a marauder. A joke-playing, trouble-making, rule-breaking marauder, who had in fact, constructed a map not a year ago, that showed the entire school, and where everyone was. Really, they had all constructed it.. but honestly, could those three have done it alone? Not on their lives.

"And I'm sure I'm not exactly young." She'd read his mind! "How many years are we apart? Twelve? Thirteen? That's a large age gap.. I was only wondering why you'd choose to spend your time with four elderly men." Elderly, like they were in a nursing home. And yes, four. James, Sirius and Peter made four.

The smile faltered, but only slightly. Tonks had never been terribly good at masking her emotions. Shoving them to the side? Yes. But masking them altogether? No. If expressive facial features didn't give her away, then expressive abilities did. It was why she disliked the colour brown so much. Brown meant sadness for her, it meant that she couldn't get through whatever was bogging her down. But delving into the reason that it was only two Marauders wasn't particularly something she wanted to do.

"You're not that old." Insisted with a laugh, "Or you don't always act it. Someone who makes the Marauder's Map and's the brains of the operation can't be that old at heart." It was part of their debate in her time too, with Tonks pointing out that he was still one of them deep down. And really, the youthful woman was always thrilled when said Marauder peeked out.

"I'm not the brains of the operation.. I just assure that things go smoothly and that we don't get caught." A little smile played at his lips then. "But I was the one who came up with the idea for the Map. And for how to make it work. How did you know about it? We never told a soul." On the contrary, Remus. You yourself would later tell Harry all about it.

"We have fun." Strange, hearing that come from Remus' lips, eh, Tonks? "Though, we really should be studying.. I find that I just can't say no to them, sometimes." And sometimes, they did it for his own good. And he appreciated it... most of the time.

"Brains." Repeated with a laugh and another little bump, then she was motioning that they look for clothes. And had a mischevious smile on her mouth about how she knew about the map. "Sorta a legend, innit then? Me an' Charlie never found it..but his younger brothers did."

Tonks probably would have made a fun Marauder, honestly. "Fun's a good thing. Remember that, eh?" Teased lightly as she went through the aisles, grabbing a t-shirt and tossing it his way. "It's outta love."

He caught the shirt and looked down at it, but with the short sleeves, he was unsure about it, so he was moving closer to the rack and plucking out a long-sleeved version. But then he was looking a little forlornly at the polyester versions. Oh, Tonks, he was from the seventies. Did you see what he was wearing? He didn't want t-shirt, he wanted baggy-leg jeans and patterned, large collar button-ups.

"Who is Charlie?" Remy questioned after a second. He didn't know the red-headed family yet. But he would, some day soon. He'd met Molly a few times in school, but that had been a few years back and she was graduated long ago. She'd also been Prewett at the time.

She looked over, smiling in amusement at the forlorn stare. Then went over and tugged him by the wrist of his shirt now over to the seventies clothing. "Any chance of seeing you in something with big pointy lapels? And disco-dancing?" She was flipping through the clothing, giggling. "I'll do it if you do it." The dancing. Tonks would dress up in about anything. Except dresses.

"Charlie is one of my best mates. Charlie Weasley." She nodded, still picking through clothes that were popular when she was still in pigtails and getting scraped knees. Of course, that could mean that they were clothes just popular yesterday..so that wasn't a very good analogy. Ah well. "He's a dragon catcher now."

"Pointy lapels are nice," He'd been raised up with them being in fashion, so he liked the way they looked. "And I don't dance." He assured her with a little smile, as she flipped out a green-toned polyester shirt with the aforementioned pointy lapels, and long sleeves that were semi-puffy. Really, most of the clothes in here were seventies, there wasn't much that wasn't, only a very few things. Even the t-shirts were seventies shirts.

"I don't think I've ever heard of him.. though I did know a man named Weasley. Arthur, I think.. he dated a girl I knew, Molly Prewett."

Tonks herself was wearing bell bottomed jeans and a Partridge Family t-shirt, because she too shopped Thrift Store ala Captio. There was a small shudder that escaped when she recalled why exactly she had come for new clothes. All of that blood. All-- No, stop it Nymphadora. Back to the conversation. A smile appeared, eyebrow lifting upward. "Just a little one." Coaxed. "Won't tell a soul." The witch made a motion, as if to cross her heart, but stopped. It was a little morbid here, at least the last part was.

"They marry. Have seven kids! Charlie and I are the same age, so we were in Hogwarts together." Aw, Arthur and Molly dating..for some reason, that made Tonks smile. She never thought of them as anything but the Weasleys. It was like imagining the troubles that her dad had to go through for her mum.

"I don't dance, I'm sorry." He smiled more though, and was collecting up a new pair of jeans to replace the bloody ones he was wearing. Once he had them draped over his arm, he was slowly moving for the dressing room, though the door had been lost long ago and it didn't offer much privacy, it was the best he had.

"They marry? That's wonderful.. she was a very sweet girl. She deserves to be happy. But seven children?" My, that was a lot. And Remus, for a second, considered having seven children of his own, but dismissed it as easily as it'd come. He didn't want to risk passing on his curse. No werewolf had ever been documented as having bred with someone not infected. And he didn't want to be the first, the test subject. He didn't want to pass on something so awful to someone else, not through biting or blood.

In spite of the fact that she was obviously not looking, still pushing through shirts and jeans, Tonks gave a whistle and brief look up. She grinned a little but then was off somewhere else. Not too far, so that they could still talk. "Mhm. I also rather like the only girl of the clan, Ginny Weasley."

The younger witch couldn't imagine having kids right now. Not just because of her own age (and penchant for acting like a kid when she could) but because she couldn't imagine bringing a kid into the world right now. Afterward. When things settled down. That would be good. Chuckling at herself, she found something very sequiny. Two somethings very sequiny.

She headed off to the fitting rooms as well, quickly tossing sequined thing number two (the more masculine looking shirt) into Remus' dressing room before slipping into the other one. "Try it on? We'll come out at the same time."

As much as she loved playing around with Remus, tugging him into things that he'd simply be polite to do, it was also for herself that Tonks acted a little goofy. It was a way not to focus completely on the atrocities that have happened.

He was mostly changed when she tossed that sequined thing in at him, and he just barely managed to catch it before letting out a breath, this woman was crazy! .. But in a good way. She reminded him of his best friend, and that made him smile slowly. So much like Sirius Black, that silly girl beside him in the next dressing room over.

Still, he finished buttoning up that polyester shirt, straightening the sleeves, then he pulled on the vest, smoothed his hands along it, and then looked in the mirror. What he saw made him laugh, and he was finally coming out of the changing room, spreading his hands out some as he sparkled in the dim light. "We'll look like Sonny and Cher." And oh yes, he'd wear this around town, if you did, Tonks. He wouldn't do it alone, but with coaxing from a friend? You bet. He wasn't a marauder for nothing!

She was wriggling into her sequined shirt as well, laughing at her reflection as well. The seventies were so weird! Coming out of the dressing room, Tonks gave a quirky little spin in her diamond-like outfit, causing the dim light to catch on it.

"We do look like Sonny and Cher!" Exclaimed as she looked Remus over, eyebrows lifting. "You look quite dashing, Sonny Bono." Another grin appeared as she tilted her head. "We should dazzle people today." Heck yeah she wanted to wear it around town.

"You want to go out in public in these?" He looked down at his shiny golden-sequined shirt, then back up at her, eyebrows high in his forehead. Was she serious? Something about that smile told him that she was, and he made a small noise, then shook his head. Maybe not. "How about I follow you around while you're wearing yours, and remind you of how stunning you look in it?"

Shy werewolf, wasn't quite sure he wanted to wear this out where people would actually see him in it.

"Why not? It'd be pretty funny yeah?" And would make the people that they saw smile or laugh. The young witch liked that sort of thing. It was the Hufflepuff in her, one might suppose. But then Remus was talking about how he'd say that she looked stunning and that..well, it was blush-inducing. Smiling sheepishly and running a hand through her hair, which she was sure was some crazy sort of brightness now, Tonks laughed.

"It'd have to be a pair, if we did. Cher can't go anywhere without Sonny, after all." But she was willing to compromise, "Just round the store, then. But only if you give us a dance." It was sort of a compromise! Wasn't it?

It would be pretty funny, but Remus wasn't quite sure he was ready for that. He was in a strange place, with strange people, and murders were happening and.. well. He was a bit concerned, to say the least. He wasn't really eager to be putting on that shirt and be-bopping around town just yet. Maybe once he'd lost his mind.

"We could be a pair, and I'll wear it around the store, but I won't dance. I don't dance. I sit out the Yule Ball every year, I don't dance." Even in class.. he'd played up his tiredness from the impending full moon, and he'd been allowed to sit it out. Sneaky, evil wolf.

"I sat out the couples dancing, but only because I didn't want to break anyone's feet." Admitted with a chuckle. She was sort of spastic, after all. And generally only joined in the spastic sort of dancing. "One dance move. Any one you want. And then I'll let you alone about it." Tonks was smiling sweetly. Please?

Of course, what she meant was that she'd let him alone about it right now. Might try to wheedle another dance sometime later. If they ever danced around here. Hard to find reasons to dance with so much going on. The same with back at home; she'd wheedle the older Remus for a dance too. Just for some semblance of normalcy and fun. Tonks was rocking back and forth on her heels, waiting for the answer even as she was gathering up her old clothes and draping them over the broken dressing room door. It wasn't for cleanliness that she did that, but to keep her clothes known from the pile of clothes all around.

"I don't think so, Tonks." He was smiling a little as he said it though, and was gathering up his own clothes, then moving to drape them atop hers. "Enough play time, come on. We've got things to get done." And things to worry about. Lots of things to worry about, in fact. He was slowly beginning to take off the sequin shirt, draping it over top of the other things, as he looked down at the red Chucks he was wearing.

Then he looked back up at the older witch. "A hat." He finally conceded. "I'll wear any hat you please." There you go, Tonks!

She smiled wryly in return and nodded, knowing full well that there were plenty of things to worry about and plenty of things to get done. So the witch was peeling off her blindingly dazzling shirt as well, leaving her in the tanktop undershirt to contemplate what layers to go for. It was safe to assume that layers would probably be the best thing around here.

Tonks had been looking around when Remus spoke up again, and smiled brightly. "I'll make sure it's a good one." Promised with a wink. With that, the witch was off looking in the messy aisles for an over-shirt and a hat. Her movements could be followed by the clanging and occasional crash or mutter that occurred. "What's your favourite class right now?" Asked over the aisles. She wondered if it would change.

He watched as she bounded off back down the aisles, eyebrows slowly raising up towards his hairline.. and he brushed a bit of that gray-flecked hair from his eyes, wincing every time he heard a crash or a noise of pain.

But then she was speaking up again and the werewolf cleared his throat, one hand pressing carefully against his chest as he did, as if that would help his voice carry across the small thrift store. "I, ah.. it's potions, actually. It's my most challenging subject and knowing all of the answers in all of my other classes sometimes gets tiresome." Oh yes, wouldn't we all like to have Remus Lupin's problems? He was tired of always being right, so he liked his hardest class. Poor thing.

For how much she crashed into things, the woman didn't seem worse for wear. She was used to it. And once she settled in an aisle, having found a flannel shirt for herself and a cowboy hat (the latter placed on her head for safe keeping) Tonks was laughing. "No, doesn't change." His favourite class. She was rolling her eyes in good nature as well at the rest of his answer. "Hermione likely has the same problem." Not that Tonks was stupid. Had to be smart and get good letters in order to be an Auror, but she had to work in some classes. Didn't have to work in others. Potions and Herbology were always the hardest. One guess as to why.

She was meandering back toward Remus then, but stopped as she found another set of hats. Rummaging through them, Tonks found a dusty old fedora and grinned. She carried it with her and was still dusting it off when she returned to where the younger wizard was. "This one, please."

"Who's Hermione?" He questioned as she was sifting through a few more hats, and he watched closely as she dusted off that fedora, looked it over, then came towards him and presented it out. A fedora, huh? He reached out a bandaged hand to take it, tilting it this way and that to look it over, then he smiled some and nodded once, lifting it up to settle it on slightly graying hair, then those bright eyes were lifting again and settling onto Tonks.

"How do I look?" The werewolf questioned with a touch of a smile, tilting his head to the side and forward some, so he could look up just past the brim at her. Playful puppy.

"Oh, a friend." Tonks replied with a wry smile. It wasn't untrue, not at all. It also wasn't the whole truth. She stared at the younger Remus for a moment, the wry smile turning a little more bittersweet. There was so much that she always wanted to share, with the elder werewolf and now the younger. And she couldn't. The witch wanted to snort at herself, but instead studied the now be-hatted werewolf.

It caused her to smile widely. She reached up and tugged lightly at the brim. "You look good, Remus." Admitted easily, though she wasn't trying to think about it too much. It'd make her embarrassed. Because it was all a silly crush to begin with. Nothing serious.

He smiled when she tugged on the brim and his face turned just a bit pink as she complimented him. Stop it, Tonks, you were making him blush, and he'd just get more embarrassed if you kept doing it, so leave the poor boy alone! As it was, he was already clearing his throat and nodding his head some. "Thank you. I should.. really get going. I promised Rose I'd be back." And Rose seemed to be quite protective over her new stray puppy. He'd slept with her last night, and planned to do it again tonight, even though her Doctor friend seemed less than thrilled at the prospect.. he was already warming up a little. And strangely, he'd warmed up after he found out he was a werewolf. Go figure.

She smiled, tilting her head slightly, and then nodded as well. "Right, right." Oo, new person that she hadn't met. "Rose?" Genuine curiosity when she said the other girl's name, because Tonks liked meeting new people. "I spoke with her on the journals a bit! Seems very nice!" And fun.

"C'mon then. You've got the clothes you want, yeah?" They had come here for practical clothes, after all. Tonks figured that she'd walk with him back to a middle point and take off from there. So the witch was rocking back and forth on her heels, just waiting.

"Remus?" Asked as she looked over again. "Thanks. This has been fun." It was just what Tonks needed.

"I've been staying in the museum with her." Rose, that was. Oh, if only you'd found him before her, Tonks, you'd be the one he was staying with. But as it was, the blonde had claimed the wolf for her own, and he'd been sleeping there with her and The Doctor ever since. And the Doctor didn't seem to mind.

Once outside and walking back towards the center of the town, Remy was smiling some over at Tonks and nodding his fedora-covered head. "Yes, it has. I would very much like to meet with you again. I'd like to know more about you, and where you come from. And you're a fun person." Something that the older Remus didn't enjoy quite as much.

She nodded, "So long as you stay safe." That was all that ultimately mattered to Tonks. With that, she walked with him in comfortable quiet.

Quiet, that is, until he said that he wanted to spend time with her again. That had the witch smiling and hair taking on the blush that pale skin didn't. Remus had flattered her. "Thank you! And I'd like that very much."

"I'll stay safe." He assured quietly, smiling some as he did and nodding that gray-flecked head. "I'd like that too. Thank you again, Tonks. I enjoyed today." They had come up on the museum now, and Remus was watching her a long moment, then his cheeks darkened some and he turned to quickly head up those steps, glancing back only once before he disappeared inside.

You'd made him blush, Tonks. And it wasn't because of something you'd said. Imagine that.
