At Amaterasu's response, Shannon tried not to furrow her brow even as her expression easily portrayed her confusion. To Shannon, the other woman looked human enough and she wondered just what the statement that she was different from Shannon's kind was supposed to mean. Then, she went on and Shannon bit the inside of her cheek to keep herself from calling bullshit.
Gods? Not in this fucking place, that was for damn sure. By some trick of the light, it seemed like the other woman was glowing dimly and Shannon tried to ignore it. If there was such a thing as God or gods, then they'd be awfully cruel to allow all of the people in this place to suffer so much, never mind the people killed during their stay. The thought made her think of Domeki and Shannon grew bitter. It took a conscious effort to keep it from showing on her face; it wasn't Amaterasu's fault, of course, so it would do no good to treat her badly because of the mood. It would also do no good to bite the hand that was about to feed her, so to speak.
"Oh..." was all Shannon could come up with as a response after a long pause. She nodded, then, as the other woman went on. "I'm sorry," she added awkwardly. So, all right, not a PETA freak, at least. Still, it felt odd. "Thank you," she finished as she leaned down to take up one of the fawn's legs. Her face grew hot and her stomach dropped as she tugged on the corpse, feeling somehow guilty at the idea of dragging it along behind her, but still finding herself unable to make herself try to heft the thing up onto her shoulders or something; it was dead, after all. The idea just gave her the creeps.
