Day One - Morning
Who: Shannon Rutherford & George Lass
What: Shannon and George wake up in the woods (Arrival)
When: 9:30am
Where: Forest/Barn
Rating: R (language; lots of f-bombs between these two chicks lol)
Status: Complete

"Oh, my God..." Shannon mumbled, rubbing her forehead. When did it start raining? And how long had she been knocked out, anyway? "Stupid dog," she added in a thick voice she barely recognized as her own.

"Sayid?" she tried to yell, but it only came out as a raspy choked word, nearly stuck in her throat. He wouldn't have just left her there, would he? Or maybe he was out of hearing range and still trying to chase Vincent. Jesus, one person asked her to do one thing and she screwed it up. Boone was looking down (or up, she supposed) and laughing his fucking ass off, probably, little prick.

...it still hurt to think about him, so she pushed it away and sat up slowly, looking around. She felt totally out of it and wondered if she had a concussion or something. She'd have to find Jack and have him look her over, maybe, to make sure she was all right. She scanned the surroundings.

Time out. This wasn't the jungle at all... At least, not the part of the jungle she'd been in. ...oh shit...

The rain startled George awake as as the same time, her own brain tried to wake her before she reached hypothermia. After all, she was pretty soaked.

She felt something mushy from underneath her, but not the good kind of mushy - George was uncomfortable and some part of her had awaken with a strong feeling of disgust.

As she finally sat up, she found herself in the middle of what seemed to be a forest, feeling wet and dirty - mud everywhere on her black suit - and with a strong sense that there was something wrong. The first thing she said, of course, was "What the fuck?!" In a slow, low voice. Her brow was furrowed to the max when she finally managed to stand up, only to bury one of her heels in the mud again - and that event alone made her yelp a frustrated "Fuck!".

Where was she? What the hell was that, and since when had she been to the forest? Asking herself these questions, George dared not walk - she knew from somewhere that one shouldn't just roam around aimlessly when lost in the woods. She heard a voice, someone calling someone else. At least, there was that, her best chance.

"Anyone there?" She yelled as loudly as she possibly could.

Shannon moved a little too quickly, whirling her head around and she regretted it instantly as her stomach churned. But, she'd heard a voice. A female one. Didn't sound like Kate, though, or Claire...definitely didn't sound like Sun. "Hello?" she called back in a raspy voice. There was a little more volume there, now, but not much. "Where are you?" A pause. "Who are you?" she called out suspiciously.

George turned to where the voice had come from - female voice, or a really effeminate dude - but didn't answer it right away. She walked a little towards the sound hesitantly.

"Well, who the fuck are you?" She finally snapped. She was as suspicious as whoever the other person was, George wasn't about to tell her the basics just because they happened to be in the woods at the same time.

Shannon blinked. Okay, probably not an Other. The Others would know who she was, she thought. She got to her feet slowly and smoothed her muddy skirt down. That was when she noticed the little box labeled "Survival Kit." Furrowing her brow, she picked it up and opened it, looking inside. The only thing that looked even remotely useful was the water. She'd look more thoroughly later, though. Closing the box again, Shannon tucked it under her arm and took a few steps toward the voice.

"Easy, killer," she snapped back. "I'm Shannon," she added in just as nasty a voice. God, what a bitch, whoever she was...

George kicked something. Something solid, something non-mushy. It didn't feel like a critter either. Looking down, she finally spotted a little box with "Survival Kit" written on the lid. "What the fuck?!" She muttered, squatting down to check it out. It also had a logo with stuff in latin. George read it out loud, and then opened the box.

Seriously? That whole situation was beginning to feel more weird and scary by the minute, what with her waking up alone in the woods and someone leaving that box there, filled with stupid stuff like Tic Tacs and wet matches. George stood up again, holding the closed box, and looked around. It seemed whoever had the voice was coming closer.

"If you're thinking of trying anything I will fuck you up!" George said in a sing-song voice. She would introduce herself later, when she could see who she was introducing herself to.

"Oh yeah," Shannon called back sarcastically. "I'm really in a place to be starting shit." She rolled her eyes and walked a little further until she came across the source of the voice. The other girl didn't look any older than Shannon, if even as old. Likely, not a threat.

"Oh, you found one, too, huh?" she asked, raising her eyebrows and holding out her own box. "What the fuck is going on? Any ideas?" she asked, her voice softening. If this girl had the stupid joke of a survival kit then she probably didn't know, but it was worth a shot to ask, anyway.

Well, George wouldn't know, would she? Better to threaten now and apologize later. The source of the voice was a tall blonde chick who seemed to be about her own age. Not as if it mattered right that second.

She showed her - Shannon - the box and nodded, shrugging right after. How the hell would she know, she was as lost as this Shannon seemed to be. Shaking her head, George tried to walk a little further. Her shoes, buried in mud as they were, didn't seem too happy to comply.

"I...don't know!" She spoke slowly, thinking at the same time. "Did you just wake up here too? I mean, what the fuck?!"

Shannon nodded. "Sure did. Two seconds ago - or maybe two hours, I think I knocked myself out - I was chasing a freakin' Labrador through the jungle with my boyfriend and then I wake up here. Serious what the fuck moment," she replied.

She couldn't help noticing that the other girl was really pretty. Maybe she knew a thing or two about how Shannon felt about people in general; she sure sounded like she did. "What's your name?" she tried again, although she wasn't entirely interested. "I say we get the fuck out of here and see if we can find a road or something. There's gotta be a road somewhere and then if there is, eventually we'll find a phone." She paused and then looked back at the other girl's wardrobe. She was dressed like an executive or something. "Unless, do you have a cell phone?!" she asked a little too hopefully for her own taste.

This thing was getting more and more freaky by the minute. Cold, too. George looked around but of course she didn't see anything remotely interesting or note-worthy. Turning back to Shannon again, she went to stand by her side.

"George." She said, and then checked her own pockets. "Nope. No phone."

She looked up at Shannon expectantly. "Sooo? Are we going or what?"

Shannon's face fell when the other woman - George, as she'd introduced herself - replied that she didn't have a phone on her. Great. Sighing, Shannon looked around as well, wondering which direction she should go. It wasn't like she had a map or a compass, or anything even remotely useful at all in that stupid survival kit...

"Yeah, whatever, I guess..." Shannon muttered, starting to walk. Pick a direction, any direction will do! She had no idea where she was going or even if they should be moving at all - what if someone was coming? What if there was already a search and rescue on the way to look for them and this was all one great big misunderstanding?

Sadly, she doubted that was the case at all.

Shannon had seemed disappointed, and rightfully so. George was disappointed herself, and confused, weirded out, cold and sick. She doubted this had anything to do with her new position in the reaper ranks. In fact, she was nervous that it had nothing to do with it at all, and George needed to be back home, she was needed now.

George started walking by Shannon's side with a deep frown that didn't seem to be going anywhere any time soon. Finally, the deep crappy feeling she was having got to her, and George had to say it:

"What kind of sick fuck leaves a survival kit full of stupid shit but not a fucking map?!" She protested.

Shannon started a little when the silence between the two of them was broken as George started shouting again. She'd have laughed, except the point was valid and that was...fucked up.

"Somebody who wants us to be lost and confused," Shannon replied with a frown, looking around. Like the Others, she thought, but didn't say. "I swear to God if we run into a fucking polar bear..." she muttered angrily to herself under her breath.

She hadn't felt scared since after her own death; since before gaining the ability to figure things out a little better, to settle down and relax. This feeling was, for all intents and purposes, an almost new one for George.

And then there was the timing in which this was happening, without counting the complete weirdness of everything about this situation. George had never missed one single moment of her life, even the one that came after death, but now she couldn't remember how she'd gotten there.

"I don't get it. Who exactly are we talking about here...? A freak psycho killer who kidnaps young blonds?" The thought sent shivers down her spine. She had encountered one of those before, but she hadn't exactly been the victim.

George wanted to know who Shannon was talking about and the suggestion that followed the question made Shannon shudder. Claire had been blonde, too...

"Maybe...I fucking hope not," she said softly, looking warily over her shoulder as they walked. "Let's just get out of here, wherever here is. The sooner, the better. If we can find a road, I say we hitch a ride; safer with two of us than if we were to do it by ourselves," she suggested.

Shannon seemed hopeful, and George dared not break that hope with her own thoughts that it could be hours before they got off that forest - if they ever did - and they might not even find any road or landmark at all.

"Okay!" She said instead, faking cheerfulness. Truth was George was ready to throw another fit. However, as they walked more, there seemed to be something - other than trees - in the midst of the trees. George would have walked faster if her heels weren't so deeply buried in the mushy ground. As it was, she actually seemed to be limping instead of walking.

The falsity in the cheerfulness that George's voice displayed was beyond apparent to Shannon, but she chose to ignore it. If George wanted to feel hopeless and shitty, so be it, but Shannon was going to be hopeful and shitty. No amount of fake happiness was going to change that.

Her sneakers sunk into the mud, making horribly disgusting suctioning sounds with every step.

There looked to be a clearing of some kind ahead and Shannon was glad, because it meant that just maybe the two of them were making some kind of progress. Anyway, the sooner she could get away from George, the better. Clearly, their personalities clashed.

The closer they got, though, the more Shannon's heart sunk. "Oh, you've got to be shitting me...is that glass?!" she asked, breaking away from George and pushing her way through the denser brush until she'd gotten past the tree line. It was glass. A giant, ridiculously tall and long pane of glass. "Shit..."

Shannon pressed her hands against the glass and leaned forward, trying to extend her peripheral by using the reflection off the glass. She closed her eyes and rested her head against it, almost not taking notice anymore of the rain. "It's like at the friggen zoo or something..."

George stood just behind Shannon, with her jaw on the floor and an incredulous expression on her face. Glass, being locked inside what seemed like a glass fence, was the last thing she expected.

"Oh what the fuuuuck?!" George yelped furiously, pacing around the same spot as Shannon did whatever she was doing near the glass. This was beginning to get scary, really scary and George disliked total loss of control a great deal. "We need to go the other way. I want some fucking answers." She told Shannon, still visibly furious, but now choosing the passive-aggressive side of anger.

Shannon stepped back from the glass and put a hand to her forehead. "This is the Others. I know it. Only someone sick would do something like this and if it's the Others, we're fucked, George, I hate to be the bearer of bad news," she said dully.

"In fact," she went on, punching the glass only to pull her hand away, shaking it as it smarted with pain. "The last time they took someone from camp, it was a pregnant girl and they gave her amnesia, so...if they can do that to a pregnant girl, we're really screwed," she added, setting her jaw and pushing past George, heading back in the other direction.

"Come and get me, then, you fuckers!" she screamed into the forest. "I'm right here! And I'm apparently not going anywhere, so come on! Bring it the fuck on, you creepy sons of bitches!"

And now Shannon had stopped making sense. Or maybe she was actually right on the money with what she was saying, and knew more than it had seemed at first.

"Who the fuck are the others? Other what?" George asked anyway, skepticism all over her voice. She flinched when Shannon punched the glass. Smart move, too. George was about to speak, but then Shannon went slightly - a lot - crazy and started screaming at nowhere for someone to come and get her.

"Alright, calm down. You're not helping by screaming your lungs out, and if you know something then you better calm the fuck down and tell me all about it." George asked, commanded with a firm voice.

"The Others," Shannon insisted, turning to look at George, glaring. "They're just the Others. The other residents on Craphole Island," she said with a dismissive wave of one hand and a snotty expression of disinterest. "We don't know who they are, we just know they're bad."

Shannon walked a little further through the trees and then hissed an irritated "SHHHHHHut up!" at George as she tried to listen for their whispers. She'd heard that if one was deep enough in the jungle, they could hear the Others whispering. She'd never heard it herself, but she was fast learning that she should expect the unexpected.

But there was nothing. "Oh, come the fuck on, you assholes. Ha ha, you caught the pretty blond girls, you want a goddamn medal?!" she snapped, peeking around trees and continuing to walk away from George. "I'm sure you'll be disappointed to note that neither of us is fat or pregnant so we're gonna put up a fight!" she called out.

George glared right back, snorting. Awful lot of attitude, which George didn't handle all that well. Plus, she sounded absolutely fucking nuts right now.

She stopped, shaking her head. "What are you, the fucking trees whisperer? Get a fucking grip, lady!" George snapped, making no effort at all to follow cuckoo's nest any longer.

"Fuck off, you don't know what the hell I do!" Shannon snapped and was immediately reminded of her fight with Boone when he'd called her useless for sitting and crying as she stared at the corpse of the man who had saved their lives by refusing to let them have their first class seats.

"You know what? You're on your own. You don't believe me? That's just fine. Good luck," she said, stalking off. "I can take care of myself anyway," she grumbled angrily under her breath as she grabbed at trees to keep her balance, slipping and sliding in the mud as she tried to storm off.

George's tongue touched her back teeth as she stood, one hand on her hip, and her head tilted to the side. "You sure whine a lot, that's one thing I know you do." She said disdainfully.

Snorting and shrugging, George stood there watching her storm off. It wasn't like she needed a drama queen who only heard what she wanted to hear, thus failing to understand that George had never actively said she didn't believe her. But then again, what if something happened to her, and it was George's fault for letting her go on her own?

"Whatever you went through, I'm sure it was fucked up, but that's no reason to treat everyone like they're the enemy. I'm fucking stranded the same way you are, it's not me you're supposed to spend your energies fighting against!" She yelled, more to settle her conscience than anything else.

Shannon actively ignored the whining statement. This chick was like Boone with a vagina or something and she didn't want anything to do with that. The line of thought pissed her off just as much as it ripped her up on the inside. Not that she'd ever show it...

"Fucked up does not even begin to cover it," she called over her shoulder. "So you can either come with me or not, but I'm not gonna make it easy on these assholes by standing around scratching my head." She didn't look back and she didn't stop. There had to be something else. If they weren't in the jungle, then there had to be something. Somewhere. Shannon just had to find it. George could come or she could fuck herself; Shannon didn't really care either way.

George rolled her eyes, and walked slowly in Shannon's direction. She didn't know who the fuck told her George planned on scratching her head while standing around, but she guessed it was just how Shannon rolled: based upon suppositions.

"If you're just going to walk around aimlessly a thousand feet away from me, then yeah, you're on your own." She talked behind Shannon, without making an effort to get closer.

"Okay, bye then," Shannon replied with little interest. She could see a clearing up ahead but with the sky so overcast and the rain so misty and fog-like.

Pausing, Shannon wiped the rain from her face and took a few more steps. Did she really feel like walking that far...? It wasn't like there was anywhere else to go...

"Oh, fuck you!" George snapped disdainfully, flipping her the bird behind her back. Honestly she was probably much better off without the little bitch with a princess complex and crazy talk.

It was an easy thing to do, too: Walk away from the glass, and see where that lead her. Not like she needed company for that, anyway.

"Back at you," Shannon replied, although without the normal snappishness she usually had. She was distracted.

"You should probably get off your high horse and come," she called over her shoulder, closing in on the few yards between her and the clearing up ahead. Shannon could see the little bit of sun in the sky glinting again and it looked like some kind of a barn or something. At least from where she was standing. She spared George a brief glance over her shoulder before walking out of the forest and onto a dirt road. It was a barn. ...full of...couches?

Shannon wrinkled her nose. A barn full of old, wet, dirty, moldy couches. "Gross..." she said, wrinkling her nose.

George flipped Shannon the bird a couple more times, and then snorted. "Pot. Kettle." She muttered. She still followed her - intelligence had a way of overpowering rage for George these days, and the intelligent thing was to stay with the only other human being in that place so far.

George walked along slowly, tilting her head to the left when she saw what Shannon had probably already seen. A barn, and couches. And a smell.

"Aw!" She protested, covering her nose with her fingers. "What the fuck are a bunch of old couches doing in a barn?" Not that she knew much about farming, but something told her that couches did not belong in a barn at all.

Shannon looked over at George only partially surprised that she'd decided to come along after all. "Your guess is as good as mine, sweetie," she said, looking back at the couches and making a face. "Oh, this is just stupid. A barn. Full of couches. What the fucking fuck...?!"

Frustration was taking over again. Shannon just wanted to get the hell out of here and she already had a pretty good idea that she wasn't going anywhere far anytime soon. "I'm gonna walk up the road and try to find someplace to get out of the rain. ...that doesn't smell like that," she complained. She looked over at George again. "Coming?"

George glared at Shannon as she called her sweetie. What type of bullshit was that, anyway? Not contented with being a bitch, now she was also condescending?

George shrugged and started walking, all the while muttering. "No, I'm going to stay here and sit on one of these lovely couches waiting for you to come to my rescue."

Shannon rolled her eyes and went on walking beside George, saying nothing to her. Her own mind was turning over the recent events and wondering if, miraculously, Sayid was going to show up to take her back. Anything was better than this. Even Craphole Island.

"Whatever," she muttered, walking blindly ahead and ringing out her hair every few feet when it dripped water into her eyes. She stopped at the fork in the road and looked over at George. "I'm heading left," she announced, leaving the statement open for George to come along or go to the right. Either way, Shannon wasn't going to talk to her, so she kind of didn't care.

George made no further effort to try and be civil with Shannon either, she could care less if the other one talked to her or not. As the blond princess announced she was heading left, George nodded and grimaced. "Good luck." And headed right very slowly. At least now she could see where she was walking to, sort of, she didn't need company to make her feel a little more secure.

Shannon looked over at George as the other girl headed to the right side of the fork. "You too," she said and actually found that she meant it; even the tone in her voice was a little sincere.

With a heavy sigh, Shannon started up the left side of the fork without looking back. She'd find her own way out. Or if there was a barn, maybe there was a cabin and someone would let her use a phone.

She'd just have to find out.
