He hadn't given the mutant time to react at all. He didn't want to. He didn't want to be snagged in again. He was pulling away, he was pushing away and this time he knew that the Cajun might just let him. He'd have to.
Then came that smile, bright at anything, and the Doctor watched in an odd sort of horror as the Cajun denied his apology and his jaw fell open a bit before being snapped shut.
"Well, I'm sorry," he said stubbornly. He was sorry. This was out of line for the reserved Doctor; and he felt there was a reason it felt like it, too. He looked to the door, taking a few tentative steps away from the Cajun.
