Day Fifteen - Late Night Who: Shannon Rutherford and OTA museum dwellers What: Winding down and still fighting the hangover with a little hair of the dog. Where: The Museum When: Day 15, late night (around 11pm-ish) Rating: TBA but probably PG Status: Dropped
Even after - or maybe especially after - the day which had given way to night, Shannon's head was still throbbing with the hangover she'd awoken with. When taking a long nap through the evening and eating more candy and granola bars than she could've ever been able to stand back in the real world didn't help, Shannon decided that she'd have to put the hair of the dog myth to the test. Maybe that would actually work. It was worth a shot, anyway.
Sam had stocked up on liquor the day before and Shannon was almost afraid that he'd started to - or would start to - think she was some kind of a lush, trying to find solace and peace of mind at the bottom of a bottle. Never the less, she was beyond thrilled to have learned last night that he'd done so. She wanted to be comfortably numb again, the way she'd been the night of the Smoke Monster. It seemed like so long ago.
Sitting in the lobby of the museum, curled up against the wall with her blanket wrapped tightly around herself, Shannon nursed an already half-empty bottle of Jack Daniels that hadn't been finished the night before. The Doctor wasn't the Doctor anymore. New Guy was the Doctor. Shannon had to keep secrets from the new girl and that was hard enough, but she was already having sympathy pains for the kinds of secrets Jack and the Doctor would have to keep from the other woman.
She and Sam had somehow managed to miss one another all day and Shannon was starting to wonder if it was intentional on his end after the awkwardness of the day before. While she sincerely hoped not, there was no real way of telling and she sure as hell wasn't going to ask. Sarah Jane had been missing and Shannon felt badly enough that she hadn't even realized it until today. There was a lot to take in and Shannon was equally as drained emotionally as she was exhausted physically for having been all over town all damn day. As soon as Sam got back, she'd be able to go to bed. Until then, she'd nurse the drink and keep an eye on the door; her two-by-four was already poised beside her, leaned up against the wall and ready to go if it was needed.
