Dr. Elliot Reid ([info]frickonastick) wrote in [info]vas_captio_rpg,
Elliot's hand hesitated when Sid winced and her eyes snapped up to his face to gauge his reaction. She knew that look well enough, the one that people got just at the sight of a needle, before she'd even come close to sticking it in him. She nodded, her brow furrowing slightly when he described how it felt. "The wrapping has to be tight in order to keep down the swelling," she said, her fingers moving again to unwrap it. "If we had ice we'd keep a compress on it to help with that, but as it is..." She trailed off, not needing or wanting to finish that sentence. Everyone knew how bad off they were. Saying it out loud didn't make things any better, only worse.

"What's your name?" Elliot asked, as she slid the bandage off and regarded the purple ankle. If it wasn't four times it's regular size it was at least three. Without the ability to xray it or form a decent plaster cast she wasn't sure the kid would walk again without a tell-tale limp. She swallowed, concentrating on keeping her face neutral as she started wrapping it again.

"I'll give you some aspirin for the swelling," she said, glancing up at his face. "And something a little stronger for the pain." She nodded towards his head. "How's the head? Are you having any headaches? Nausea? Double-vision?"
