Elliot couldn't help but think he looked so young, sitting here on his own. He looked as lost as she felt. Which meant that his distracted look was close to breaking her heart.
He looked away when he asked about her side, but she didn't mind. She was surprised he'd noticed at all. She glanced down at the bright yellow of her shirt. She opened her mouth to thank him and ask him if it made her skin look yellow, but he turned back to her and asked for something for the pain.
She sighed and gave him a tired smile that faded quickly. "Sure," she said, slipping her shoes back on her feet and moving towards him. "Let me take another look at it."
She reached for the wrapping around it. "Is it still throbbing?"
