At Lexie's slightly unexpected response, Andy smirked. It was good to hear her laugh. Really laugh, that was. He hadn't meant to do it, but it made him happy that he could. "Well, come on, I mean really," he persisted, laughing along with her. It wasn't right!
Lexie paused for a moment and he realized that she didn't know his last name. It wasn't that he was protective of it; it just hadn't ever really occurred to him to give it out. With a huff of laughter, Andy shook his head. "Oh man, yeah no...that's not my last name, but I'll give you an A for effort..." he replied. "For what it's worth, it's Gallagher. Andy Gallagher," he informed her, giving her a small smile.
Nodding, Andy offered another weak smile in response, giving her a gentle squeeze. She was right. They probably all did the best that they could. But, it was more than he really wanted to think about for now. He'd given her a chance to be herself for a minute and allow herself to break down the way he'd been pretty sure she'd needed to. She was ready to go back in and he wasn't surprised. Sometimes too much emotion all in one go was overwhelming. He knew the feeling.
"Yeah, okay. I'm gonna hang out here for a little bit. I'm not ready to head in again but if you need me, you know where to find me," he said with a small smile. "Any time, Lex. I mean that."
