For a moment, Andy was almost certain that Lexie was going to hold it in even though he'd lead her back to where no one except him would see her and he opened his mouth to tell her that he could walk away for a minute if she needed to be alone when he noticed the movement of her shoulders. It was one he'd seen Tracy do a million times when she was trying to cry in such a way that he wouldn't hear or see.
And then she let go of his arm and wiped at her eyes, apologizing. Andy shook his head. "No, Lexie, don't do that. Don't be sorry. Not with me," he said and pushed her hair out of her face, taking care not to inadvertantly poke her in the eye as he did so. The wind was whipping it around and into her eyes.
"Here, come here," he said quietly, his brow furrowing as he gently pulled her into a loose hug. He went out of his way not to jostle her shoulder or hug her too hard. "Just let it out; no one's here except me and I won't tell anybody," he said softly.
Rather than give off a vibe that he wasn't entirely sure would be welcome by stroking her hair, Andy moved his hand down to rub her back lightly. "But, Lexie, you know...I don't think anybody would fault you." He paused and thought of the way Ryuzaki or L or whatever the hell his name was had reacted to her in the journal when she hadn't wanted to make a house call for Merope. His brow furrowed again. "And I'll fuck anybody up who makes you feel bad for it. You're not a robot; it's okay to cry."
