Dean wasn't very happy with the whole setup in the gym. The roof had collapsed and there were people injured everywhere. And he couldn't help. That was the crux of it. He was impotent due to his own injuries. He could see that Lexie was hurt as she made her rounds and she hadn't come to see him at all. He knew she was busy and that he wasn't all that important in the scheme of things being he wasn't horribly injured. Just broken hands and such. No glass in his face like the pretty girl a few cots away. Nothing bleeding for him. Just the dull, aching throb in his hands, arm and ribs.
He glanced up as the other female doctor he'd seen making the rounds stopped in front of him. He had worked very hard at not being impatient. He knew that there were people who needed the help more than he did. It was wearing him out to ignore the brunt of the pain and focus on other things. So when he looked up at the cute blonde doctor who looked like she'd just breezed in from another world, which was most likely what she'd done since he'd never met her or heard of her through the journals, he didn't smile back at her.
"You should see the other guy," he quipped dully. "No, I was a human shield in the middle of an animal stampede. Pretty sure the hands are broken. So is the left forearm and a few ribs on that side too. Had a dislocated elbow too. Had it popped in by a real sonofabitch. He did a good job but had no bedside manner." He held out his hands for her to examine. "He set the arm too but not these."
