Day 10: Carnival - 1:15pm
Who: OTA
What: Seven point five
When: 1:15pm - 5:00pm
Where: Carnival
Rating: TBA
Status: Active
The sun was shining high in the sky and a gentle breeze stroked the leaves of the trees, making them, along with the severed stub of rope on the clock face from the day previous sway lazily. It was quiet. Perhaps it was too quiet, for the lack of birds chirping or insects buzzing.
All in all, the day was one of the most pleasant as of yet for the bulk of the involuntary residents of Vas Captio, save, of course, the heat. Maybe it was a bit too hot to be entirely comfortable.
It started small, as most things do. The branches of trees surrounding the carnival swayed as though a strong wind had rustled through them. The water in the tunnel of love rippled and the seats on the ferris wheel rocked gently.
A beat later, everything was chaos. The earthquake rocked through the carnival, tossing old, molded stuffed prizes from game booth shelves. The funny mirrors beside the haunted house shattered, sending shards of glass flying everywhere as the makeshift planks of the Shakey Shak exit to the haunted house screamed under the weight of the falling building above it. The tunnel of love cracked and groaned as the waterlogged foundation split and collapsed into itself in a roar of water.
Writhing back and forth, the ferris wheel appeared to be shaken by strong hands. The seats rocked violently and a few last notes of music hidden in the electricity-less sound system bleated into the air before the roller coaster train barreled down its hill, jumping the track in a fantastic leap. Landing with twisting, shrieking metal, the roller coaster train lodged itself in the ferris wheel, the momentum taking the wheel with it. Through most of the town, the sound of screaming rusted metal could be heard as the large wheel propelled itself downward to the ground, landing with massive force into the roof of the gas station.
Vas Captio was still, again, and silent once more.
