Day 10: Gym - 1:15pm
Who: OTA
What: Seven point five
When: 1:15pm - 5:00pm
Where: Gym
Rating: TBA
Status: Active

The sun was shining high in the sky and a gentle breeze stroked the leaves of the trees, making them, along with the severed stub of rope on the clock face from the day previous sway lazily. It was quiet. Perhaps it was too quiet, for the lack of birds chirping or insects buzzing.

All in all, the day was one of the most pleasant as of yet for the bulk of the involuntary residents of Vas Captio, save, of course, the heat. Maybe it was a bit too hot to be entirely comfortable.

It started small, as most things do. All the cots that had magically appeared in the gym the night before chattered lightly on the gym floor. Books and trophies rattled in the offices on the shelves. Water drizzled lightly out of the shower nozzles.

Then the pause of a heartbeat before the earthquake ripped through beneath the foundation which was built strongly enough to not crack or split but not to withstand the force. The walls shuddered, rupturing water pipes behind the showers and shattering the tiles into piles of rubble. Books and trophies fell from the shelves in the offices, the glass in the doors exploding like flying daggers into the walls across from them.

In the main gym, the second basketball hoop ripped from the wall and crashed to the floor, rolling away and settling near the medical supplies as they all toppled to the ground. Most supplies will not be damaged but at least three of the cots are crushed by the rolling hoop. Flakes of plaster crumble down, some of which disintegrates into a fine dust filling all the rooms and lungs of anyone unfortunate enough to be inside this building at the time of the quake.

As if that was not enough, the floor grumbled loudly before an immense crack zipped across the width of the basketball court. With each second the crack widened, parts of the concrete at the edges breaking off and falling in, eating the floor of the gym fast until the ceiling was no longer supported. With a horrible vengeful force, the portion of the roof farthest from the make-shift medical center smashed down into the gym in a thousand pieces of plaster and wood. Then all went quiet as the white dust and plaster flakes settle to the floor like falling snow.

Vas Captio was still, again, and silent once more.

After her talk with Wolverine Laurie returned to the gym to take a shower, change into a pair of jeans and a grey tank with a pink button down sweater open over it, and sleep a bit before going about the area to others. She was fast asleep, her headach finally going away, when she was suddenly awaken by the sound of the walls shaking. She looked around her confused, the glass breaking made her jump and she threw her arms up to shield her face, causing the glass to cut her arms instead. Before she could check her cuts the sound of something large seperating itself from the wall behind her pulled her attention. Turning around she saw the basketball hoop come down and she managed to jump away in time before it rolled over her cot.

Thinking she was finally safe she stood where she was and watched as things fell apart around her. The sudden ripping and cracking of the floor made her jump and she tried to run towards the door as it stretched itself across the width of the building. The rip moving faster than her made her trip and her left leg fell into the crack sending her crashing down to the ground. Laurie cried out but again didn't have time to pull her leg out properly. The cieling started to crash down around her. She didn't have much time before the whole thing would finally be on top of her. She yanked at her leg but it was stuck, if she continued to pull it the way she was she was going to break it for sure. "Is anyone out there?" she called towards the door. She was so close yet so far away from the exit.

Kim was so new to all of this that her head was spinning long before the quake hit. She had followed Elliot and Andy to the gym because she couldn't think of anywhere else to go, or anyone to go with. She had no idea why she was here, or how it had happened, but Elliot seemed equally confused, so that was--oddly enough--comforting to her. After taking a spin around the place, which reminded her very much of her old high school's physical education center, but older and rustier, Kim had brought the comprehensive first aid kit she'd arrived with over to the makeshift medical center and hopped up on one of the cots, swinging her legs over the side, glad that Andy and Elliot weren't axe murderers. Even if Andy looked sort of like one at first.

And then the shaking had started. Kim hadn't really thought much of it at first, wondering if somehow her nervousness was affecting the way she experienced the world because she was shaking, but it was quickly made clear to her that something else was going on, particularly when the glass started flying. With the only thought in her mind, "hide!", Kim dove off the cot and pushed it over sideways, using it as a makeshift barricade and shield from the glass, which had already embedded itself across her cheek and her forearms. Unfortunately, this meant that when the basketball hoop came rolling along, Kim couldn't see it coming, and when it crushed her cot, she hadn't moved away fast enough. Already coughing from the dust that had begun to settle over the gym, laced with lacerations, caught between the cracked floor and the bones she had heard snapping in her arm as the twisted metal fell backward upon her, Kim had one good shriek of pain left in her.

"I'm HERE!" She shouted, not knowing if it would do any good. And then the blackness crept up on her.

While Andy would've preferred the new chicks wanted to stay at the church with him, he hadn't minded too much when the doctor of the two wanted to see the clinic Doc Lex had set up. He'd decided it was better to take them than feel guilty later if anything bad happened to them between point A and point B.

He'd dropped down onto one of the cots as soon as he'd seen it, so fucking excited that it was anything other than a damn church pew. Lacing his hands behind his head and grinning to himself, Andy stared up at the ceiling, contented. Luna might be gone and he might know something that most of the people here would freak out about knowing, but now there were two hot blondes and if he could get in a nap on one of the cots, all would be well with the world.

There was a tremor and Andy's eyes snapped open again reflexively. It didn't feel like much, though. Like residual from an earthquake somewhere far off; he wasn't a stranger to that sensation. Tiny earthquakes that made wonderful fodder for conversation in small, sleepy towns like Guthrie were few and far between, but that didn't mean he had never felt one.

It was, however, when everything fucking went insane just after, that Andy started to panic. The shattering of glass was the first thing that registered and Andy crossed his arms over his face until he'd rolled off the cot and jumped to his feet, keeping his head down low. The floor shook violently beneath him and he did a quick, reflexive scan. Where's Lex? Where's Elliot? Where's Kim? Kim was the first one he saw, even as another woman seemed to be making a break for the exit in his periphery. Shit, that wasn't a bad idea, actually.

"Come on!" he shouted to her as he reached out to grab Kim's arm and bring her along. Hopefully, Elliot would fucking follow. But before he could get to her, the floor broke open just in front of him, the splintering wood knocking him off his feet and onto his back on the floor, forcing out a grunt as the wind was knocked out of him entirely.

Eyes wide and mouth flapping as he tried to gasp for air unsuccessfully, Andy rolled over onto his stomach to try and get to his feet again, just in time to get hit in the back of the head by what he could only assume was a piece of wood given the heavy thunk he heard echoing in his brain. Dust was raining down and finally Andy found his breath, if only to let out a hacking cough. He heard a scream; maybe many, he wasn't entirely sure in his daze, and he started to take off toward the door, skidding to a halt when the ceiling began to cave in around him. Heading back toward Kim was probably his best bet and he thought maybe it was her that had screamed, but before he could get very far, he was knocked off his feet again, knees slamming harshly against the wooden floor and a shout of pain eliciting itself from his lips. He covered his head and then, everything was black.

...he wasn't unconscious, though, because he could still hear shouting. Someone asked if anyone was there. Kim, he thought, shouted back. Andy felt dizzy and exhausted, all but hacking up a lung as he tried to push the debris off himself enough to allow in some light. "Here!" he shouted back. The two women's voices sounded to be coming from opposite directions and he couldn't tell if it was because Kim was shouting more loudly or if it was because she was actually closer that he thought perhaps she was.

"Ohhh, son of a bitch!" he screamed, thrashing to get out from under the debris and back to his feet. The latter of the actions was easier said than done. His leg was oozing again and all he could think was, no more fucking dental floss, please God, as he dragged himself forward, splinters digging into the skin under his nails as he tried to free himself. "Elliot! Lex?!" he choked out, coughing again. He knew that Kim was at least alive, because he'd heard her. So was the other woman, who, actually... "Hey, you by the door...you okay?" he called out. Andy spit blood, then, his mouth throbbing; he'd bitten down on his tongue at some point and the pain had only just then started to register.

Sometimes, having animal instincts ... well, doesn't do a damn bit of good.

Logan 'sensed' the earthquake just before it hit ... but there wasn't a whole hell of a lot he could do. He was way too far from the doors to run for it, and the damn place was shaking itself apart. He went to his knees, then to hands and knees as a beam from the ceiling slammed into him, ripping a snarl of pain out of him. At least he was heavy enough to not get thrown around like a ragdoll like the others.

When the world finally stopped moving, Logan took stock. Mostly pinned under a support beam, and bleeding like a stuck pig from a chunk of wood that'd gone through his thigh. Well, for the moment. It was already stopping, but it'd start again when he ripped the fucker out. Shit.

He could hear cries for help ... not just from the gym but from all over town. That, more than anything, galvanized him, and with a loud yell that had more in common with a roar than anything else, he twisted and shoved the damn support beam off, then ripped the chunk of wood out of his leg.

"Fuck, fuck, fuck, FUCK!" He snarled. "Goddamned motherfucking ... hang on guys. Shit." He coughed a few times as his run of expletives meant he had to breath ... and the air was full of dust. "Shit." Another cough, and then he was moving ... extremely cautiously, as he weighed more than he looked and wasn't looking forward to falling through the floor ... towards the nearest person, which happened to be Andy. "Shit, kid. Lemme give you a hand."

It had been hard enough getting the rest of the equipment over here, but he'd managed as best as he could. Many trips and by that point House's leg was aching. Three vicodin later and it had still only taken the barest hint of the pain edge off. Though he'd only been here a few short days, House was aware of his surroundings and the fact that both he and Lexie had recieved "gifts" couldn't be a good thing.

That much was made clear the moment the quake hit. Already off balance as it was, House had been thrown sideways, tossed into the air like the proverbial rag-doll and landed in a heap at the foot of a set of bleachers. He stayed down, cowering as the quake continued to shake the entire town. After what seemed like an eternity, the shaking finally ceased and House sat up to assess the damages.

His bad leg was fine -- his good leg. Well fuck. Wincing, House tore at the torn fabric hanging from his arm, creating a tourniquet before pulling at the piece of wood embedded in his leg. This was all he needed. He would live -- now time to see what the damages were. He may have been a crotchety old man who hated doing work, but he knew a disaster when he saw it.

Well, heere was something interesting.

The attic of the Grey Home was quiet today. It was her day off and it was as if God had shone down on Lexie Grey as she sat in the dormer, knees pulled to her chest, staring at the street below. There was a gentle breeze that ruffled through the trees and Lexie had a quiet moment to think. With a the noise her ears could place anywhere she heard the slow creek of her bedroom door and she looked over her shoulder with a grin.

Standing there with a pizza and beer was Dean. It must have been game night. How did she forget?

The world of Lexie's dream hummed for a moment, and she thought she was having a seizure. Powerless to move from her perch she watched as Dean set out the pizza and the plates and was cracking some joke about the Celtics. Yet, Lexie was still fused in place.

In the real world Lexie's eyes snapped open. Things had moved in her room. The shelves above her head looked like they had shifted. Lexie squinted. Then the second wave came. Wide eyed, Lexie was powerless to move as the shelving unit above her dislodged from the wall and fell. Her hands came up out of instinct as the solid wood unit crashed with an abrupt clatter on top of her, it's trinkets and bits scattering. Then, fortunately for Lexie Grey, the world went black.

Blood, there was plenty of blood. It rolled in rivulets from a cut above her eye and spread out across the Oceanic Air pillow. A corner of the shelf had impacted right into her shoulder, gouging into the muscle. The rest of the shelf laid heavy and immobile across her middle.

Lexie Grey was stuck.

Elliot had been acquainting herself with the makeshift clinic that "Doc Lex" had put together. It reminded her of footage from disaster relief clinics with the cots lined up and waiting. The basic supplies the clinic already had on hand plus the anesthetics, suture kit and first aid kit that she and Kim had woken up with wouldn't have fully stocked an ambulance.

The gym was warm and the air inside stifling. Elliot slipped away from the others in search of a bathroom, her bladder responding as it always did to the heat. She picked her way down the dark hall, following the signs to the rusty locker room where she was horrified to find the bathroom stalls missing the majority of their doors and the few doors that were still intact missing the locks. Panic made her break out into a sweat, which only made her warmer and her bladder more insistent. Emergency out ruled comfort and she rushed into a stall to relieve herself, finding a moment later that there was no toilet paper. "Frick!"

Totally disgusted she made her way out of the stall and to the sinks where there was no soap or paper towels. "Oh, God," she whined to herself. "I'm in hell." She looked at each sink in turn and then made her way into the shower part of the locker room. She spotted a bar of soap on the ground and after a moment's hesitation picked it up with two fingers and made her way back to the sink. The water was cold and refused to get warm and after turning the soap over in her hands several times she washed her hands and dried them on the inside of her jacket.

That was when she heard the faint rumble, the stall doors swinging against the stall walls, water drizzling out of the porcelain sink in front of her. She had just a moment for her southern California training to take hold and make her realize what was happening before the quake hit full force. She moved towards the open doorway, trying to duck and cover her head as the pipes behind the shower burst, showering down water and some of the porcelain sinks fell to the ground, shattering and sending shards in her direction. The floor seemed to rise up in front of her, and her heel caught on a jutting bit of tile sending her toppling forward. She went down hard, her head smacking the ripped tile floor hard enough to make her vision go gray for a second. Dazed she blinked to keep her eyes open before covering them with her arms as more sinks fell to the ground . There was the sudden sound of groaning metal and she looked behind her with widening eyes in time to see the bathroom stall walls start toppling sideways like dominoes. She forced herself to move, bloody knees scrambling in the wet tile to crawl forward and out of the way. The last wall fell with a ground shaking thud and then everything was quiet.

Elliot sucked in a deep breath of relief only to have it catch at a sudden stab of pain in her left side. She looked down, shocked to find a sliver of porcelain sticking out of her torso. She swallowed down the urge to be sick as she felt around it, trying to determine how deep it went. It was bleeding freely, but it didn't look deep. Her training told her that it was best left where it was, but the wrongness of seeing it jutting out from her shirt wouldn't allow her to leave it. Instinct told her it wasn't deep and so with tears in her eyes, she pulled it out, pressing a hand over it with one hand and pushing herself to her feet with the other. She could hear others screaming for help as she made her way to the door.

Breakfast today was Cocoa Puffs and on the small television set on the kitchen counter Animaniacs was playing. Currently the wheel of morality was turn turn turning and preparing to tell the lesson that we all should learn. Lexie Grey was seated in her Power Ranger PJ's, her heel up on the seat with her, grinning. Lexie was 9.

"Alexandra Grey," she heard a voice behind her and stiffened. The voice sounded angry. Her mother's voice sounded angry. What did she do?

Looking over her shoulder Lexie saw her mom, she was in her bathrobe, arms crossed and positively glaring at her. "You know you're not supposed to be here, young lady. Not today."

The phrase didn't make any sense. "It's Choco-toon Saturday," she said her voice heavy with disappointment. Choco-Toon Saturday, the day she and her mom would watch Animaniacs, eat cocoa puffs and gossip - it was today, Lexie knew it.

Her mother's face darkened. "Not today, Lexie." She said sternly walking quickly to the table, charging it, snatching up the bowl with a growl. "Not today, Alexandra!" Lexie cowered, pulling her knees to her chest and the world was black and silent save her mother's yells that rang in her ears.

Daring to peek open her eyes Lexie blinked hard. No longer in the kitchen but sitting in the on-call room she squinted into the shadows. There was something there. Someone was there. Lexie bristled. From the corner of her eye she could tell someone was sitting next to her. She thought she had been alone, her breath catching in her throat as she slowly dared to turn her head to face him. Part of her screamed, if you don't see it, it's not there, but she ignored it. She knew that hair, those eyes, even that mouth. Lexie gulped. There was no laughter on the face of Dean Winchester; just a blank, foreboding stare at the shuffling shadowy form.

"The insider," he whispered. Lexie could not speak, she could only turn her head slowly once more to face the source of warm breath on her cheek and the big void of a figure that set there now inches from her own shuddering and squirming. Lexie's breathing hitched and she squeaked out a nearly silent scream as long, black fingers snared around her throat.

"Die." Said the Insider.

Dean only watched.

--

A painful heaving was the first clue that Lexie was alive as she vomited. She sputtered, her eyes nearly unable to focus. Her one arm was limp at her side, the other stuck beneath the shelves that laid heavy across her. With each breath Lexie came to the sickening realization that with each exhale of breath the shelf dipped lower and became more difficult to push back up. Each breath was killing her.

"Please, God!" She screamed. "Not like this... Not like this... Not like this."

Lexie was starting to hyperventilate.

Lexie and Elliot

Elliot stepped outside into the rubble of the hallway, side stepping the ceiling tiles littering the floor. She was momentarily confused about which way she'd come, holding onto the wall to keep her balance in the dimly lit hallway. The wall disappeared and she stumbled slightly as she realized she'd come to a new doorway. It looked like a small concession stand with half door that had been knocked of it's hinges.

She heard screaming echoing from the hallway behind her, but she also thought she heard something closer. "Hello!" She called out into the stillness of the dusty room. She tried to listen carefully over the sound her heart pounding in her chest as the screaming continued. She moved forward, pulling the splintering half door open and catching a couple of splinters in her hand in the process. The screaming was getting louder and led her directly to a closed door. "I'm coming!" She yelled, grabbing the door and yanking the doorknob. She felt it move an inch and then stick on something.

Elliot took a deep breath, trying to fight down the panic that was threatening to overtake her, and was once again reminded of the pain in her side. She grabbed the doorknob again and pulled, grunting at the effort. She could see the bottom moving away from the frame an inch or two, but something must have been holding the top of the door in place. Wide eyes scanned the room and fell on a sliver of gold in the dim light. She moved over and picked up part of a broken trophy , rushing back and jamming it in the space provided .

"Hold on!" She yelled, sweating with effort as she pulled on the makeshift trophy crowbar and then after she'd lost a good grip on the trophy twice to sweaty hands and had to resituate it, she felt something give and the door pop open.

The first thing she saw was the shelves lying hap-hazard across the room where they'd fallen and then she was aware that the screaming was coming from a woman in blue scrubs beneath them. "Oh my God," she said, moving forward and trying to assess the damage.

"Okay, okay," she said to herself, kneeling in order to get a shoulder under the first shelf in order to lift it. It seemed to be crushing the doctor. - Doc Lex? - but not puncturing her and so Elliot struggled with it's weight for a moment, trying to move it off the other woman in the narrow space of the tiny room. "Where are you hurt?" She grunted, dropping the shelf when she'd cleared the cot and ducking underneath it to get closer to Lexie. She had a bad gash on her forehead that was going to need stitches and it looked like the second shelf might have punctured her shoulder. "We're going to get you out, okay?" Elliot said, noting that she'd already been sick either from pain or the pressure on her stomach. "I'm Dr. Reid." She paused. "Elliot."

Lexie heard banging on the door. She thought she may have heard a voice, but her mind was so foggy. There was no voice, there was only the banging, the banging of something coming in to get her. She could feel her heart pounding as if it were going to try and escape her chest. It was rattling her head and her throat and her brain. The room went tunnel as she focused on the door and saw finally a blurred figure coming inside. Had she been able to grab something, Lexie would have went white nuckled.

The door was pushed ajar and Lexie cringed. In the narrow dark space something had pushed inside. "Hold on!" Lexie heard a clear, female voice say. That startled her in a good way. She hadn't expected to hear a woman's voice. Was she hearing right? "H-H-hello?" She panted."Oh my God," the voice replied, and Lexies heart sang. Someone who was here to kill her wouldn't say that. Someone who was here to watch her die wouldn't react that way. This was someone to help, and that meant she might be alright.

Where was she hurt? Lexie tried to focus. "I'm Dr. Reid," Lexie heard and she felt the need to pull herself together. She had to reign it all back in. Doctors were supposed to be beyond human. They were supposed to be able to hold it all together. Lexie had held a man's carotid artery in her fingertips and not panicked. She could hold it together now.

"I-I-I..." She tried to think of where to start. "My head... I can't see straight, and I vomitted..." she panted... "A-and.. I'm pretty sure the room's spinning..." Lexie Grey had turned to diagnosing herself. "Concussion injury, blunt force trauma.. Unless--" she paused, trying to raise her free hand to touch the injury, stopping about midway. "Unless there is evidence of a compression fracture," LExie was really hoping there was no obvious dent in her forehead; an injury like that required surgery and often had a lot of complications including intercranial bleeing. Lexie tried to stop her brain.

"And my shoulder," she turned her head a little, only then noticing the blood from her head wound. "The shelf, I think..." she tried a tentative wiggle. "It's torn into the muscle," her voice was wavery. She needed to hold on to this though, if she didn't keep going she would slide rapidly off the edge into shock. She knew she didn't want to go into shock. Though, perhaps she already was.

"I'm Lexie," she said, finally, realizing she hadn't given the other woman her name.

Elliot strained in the tiny room to see the doctor more clearly.  A tiny window at the top of the room allowed light, but it was dim and now that Elliot was closer she felt like she was blocking the only light source with her height.  There was a lot of blood coming from the doctor's head wound and she bobbed, trying to determine over and under the shelf that currently pinned the woman in place that it wasn't coming from her nose, ear or mouth.

She listened to Lexie diagnosing herself, being faintly reminded of walking rounds with some of her more unsure interns.  Though of course, in this case the woman's shaky voice could be attributed to pain rather than nervousness.  "No," Elliot said quickly, shaking her head.  "I don't see any evidence of that."  At least not from where she was standing.  Up close might be a different story, but she had to get there first.

She studied the shelf and then took a deep breath. She was going to have to move it, but doing so was probably going to tear the muscle even more since it was so deeply wedged she wouldn't be able to pull it out at the exact angle it went in.

"Lexie," Elliot said, trying to force a lightness to her voice she didn't feel. "That's pretty. Short for Alexandria? I had a roommate in college named Alexandria . But she was Alex. My mom thought I had a live in boyfriend until I brought her home for Thanksgiving…" A sideways head nod and roll of the eyes. "And then she just thought I was gay."

She swallowed, realizing she was babbling and that now wasn't really the time. She grabbed a blanket visible at the end of the cot and stooped in order to hand it to Lexie under the shelf. It was covered in plaster and was far from sterile, but if the shoulder wound was as bad as the head wound, she was going to need something to put pressure on it. "I'm going to try to lift this as much as I can so you can get out from underneath it. You're going to want to apply pressure as soon as you can roll away. If you can roll away," she added doubtfully. She got into place under the shelf, her shoulder burning slightly from where she'd used it to lift the first shelf as she wedged it under this one. "On three. One…two…three…" She pushed up, shutting her eyes with the effort and trying not to imagine what she might be doing to the other woman's shoulder.

Of course Lexie sounded like an Intern - she was one. Though, she was usually extremely confident in her diagnosis, the circumstances at present could be considered extenuating. Though, it was quite a relief to hear Elliot say that there was no signs of a depression. She didn't even want to think about trying to do surgery here. It would be like painting with a blow torch.

"Close," she winced. "Alexandra." As Elliot continued Lexie suddenly swore she could see the same situation happening to her. She could envision the awkward conversations with her mother and the eye rolls from her sister. That story just belonged in her life somehow. Gosh, she wished she had something half as funny to say in response. Though, for as cool as Lexie thought Elliot's story was, it seemed she'd choked it back in favor of getting Lexie out, something she appreciated.

Taking the blanket Lexie nodded, gripping it tightly. 'One... Two.... Three," Lexie counted along in her head. She took a deep breath and immediately wished for some other way to come along and lift the shelf.

Lexie's shoulder had become the fulcrum in this lever, and even as the blonde pushed, Lexie would feel the muscles and tendons and bones moving to places that they were never intended. With a loud pop and a wail, Lexie's shoulder fully separated.

Lexie was seeing stars. For a moment she held her breath and bit down hard on her lip, drawing blood. Roll!, her mind shouted and somehow Lexie obeyed flopping off of the cot onto the floor with a pitiful whimper and she laid there shaking.

Elliot's eyes were screwed tight as she struggled to lift the shelf. She managed to lift it about eight inches before the shelf wobbled on her shoulders at the sudden shooting pain in her side. She opened her eyes, just in time to see Lexie clear the cot and then dropped the shelf abruptly, letting it crash down where Lexie had been a moment earlier. Elliot stumbled back, gripping her side with one hand and feeling a spreading, sticky wetness there. For someone that worked with blood on a regular basis the sight of her own made her surprisingly squeamish. The adrenaline had enabled her to momentarily forget about her own injury, but now the pain was back. "Frick!"

She ducked under the shelf now wedged between the wall and the cot and kneeled beside Lexie. "No evidence of a compression fracture," Elliot said, reaching out with the hand that wasn't holding her side to pat Lexie's good shoulder awkwardly. She wobbled on her heels, wishing she'd been wearing more suitable footwear whenever she'd been abducted and reached forward to look at Lexie's shoulder. She frowned in concentration as her fingers moved lightly over the injury. "I think you might have a seperated shoulder but it's hard to tell without seeing it better." She shook her head and handed Lexie the balled up blanket. "I guess I know what those anesthetics I woke up with are for now."

Her hands moved lower, pressing down on Lexie's stomach to test for tenderness or possible internal bleeding from where the first shelf had been. When she was satisfied she could move Lexie without causing too much damage she leaned back, her shoulder brushing the shelf above them. She yelled and ducked as the shelf slid a few more inches down before getting wedged again.

"We should get out of this deathtrap," she said, looking back at Lexie with wide eyes. She reached out and helped Lexie into a sitting position. "Ready, doctor?"

Deathtrap? This had been her humblest of humble abodes. Alright, so maybe it was a step or two above the crap-partment thanks to the lack of roaches; but, still it had been her home. She had planned to be able to come back here and hide and feel safe. She wanted to actually get a full night's sleep here. She wanted to host a poker game on the floor. She wanted...

What she wanted was gone in a blink of an eye. This place had taken it away, just like it had snatched her out of her life back in Seattle. Lexie was only half listening and when Doctor Reid askd her if she was ready she blinked a few times. Was she?

Her eyes darted back and forth and that was when she spotted what she thought was a dark stain on the woman's side, "You're hurt," she said quietly, realizing that even moving her jaw was a problem. Damn you sternocleidomastoid!' she thought of that muscle that ran from the back corner of her jaw, to her sternum, and then to her shoulder. The muscle, evidently, hated her, too.

"Wait," Lexie said quietly turning from the supported position to actually reach back up onto the cot behind them. Tentatively her good hand reached out and grabbed a black strap and yanked. "Here..." she panted, holding up the strap and it's attached maglite proving to be more difficult than she was used to.

Pulling her feet up beneath her Lexie prepared to stand. "This is going to hurt, isn't it." Phrased like a question, spoken like a statement, Elliot would figure it out.

Elliot looked down at the blood stain on her shirt as Lexie pointed it out. Once again feeling queasy at the sight of it. She was trying not to think abuot that right now. Trying to take shallow breaths so that she didn't feel the piercing pain and trying not to worry about what internal organs might have been pierced, even though she knew the piece of sink hadn' gone in that deep. "Not as badly as you," she pointed out, nodding towards Lexie's shoulder. "Come on."

She paused as Lexie asked her to wait and then a moment later produced a maglite. Elliot switched it on, momentarily blinding herself with the brightness of it and then focusing it on Lexie. Normally she would've tested for a concussion, but it was obvious that was the least of Lexie's worries. She regarded Lexie's arm with the light and tried not to let a sudden surge of sympathy override her doctor poker face. She had to stay calm. She directed it upwards to the wound on Lexie's head and then nodded, hooking the strap around her wrist and letting the light dance across the rubble strewn floor as she reached out to brace Lexie for standing.

"I'm gonna say yes," Elliot said. "But there are drugs just a few feet away," she promised. "The numbing kind.

Lexie wondered how deep Elliot had been wounded. It could have been relatively shallow given the amount of blood without obvious spurting, capillaries in the torso had a tendency to want to bleed for a while; though in relatively small quantity.

The light was shone from her arm to her forehead, casing her to wince as the ridiculously bright light ran past her eyes. From the look of relative plainness on Dr. Reid's face, Lexie knew that her head wound must not be too bad. That was a relief. She wouldn't let herself think any more about her brain bleeding into her skull, or temporary blindness, or loss of feeling. She was getting paranoid for a moment that she couldn't feel her left leg before she realized it was due to how she was sitting.

Elliot offered a hand and Lexie took a deep breath. All she had to do was not move her arm. That's it. If she could get upright without moving it she would be fine. Yeah, just fine.

"Alright, the promise of drugs.. Great." Innately Lexie had a fear of drugs and alcohol. Her father is an alcoholic. The idea that it was genetic haunted her. Sure, she would have a drink from time to time, but pain killers she avoided. It seemed like too tempting. It seemed to easy for the doctor to be able to get her hands on something like that. Though, in this case with a stabbing pain running from the end of her shoulder to that very supple point where muscle met spine, she thought maybe she might indulge.

With a groan, Lexie pushed and pulled herself up.

"Dammit!" She howled.

Elliot was surprised at Lexie's less than enthusiastic reaction to the promise of drugs. She'd thought the fact that there were any in this Godforsaken place would be something worth celebrating to someone as badly wounded as her.

She regarded Lexie as she prepared herself to stand. She had to admit, she was impressed. If Lexie could be that tough, then so could she. She swallowed as Lexie pulled herself up, the sound of her yelling echoing in the small room.

"Got you," Elliot said, gripping Lexie in case she had second thoughts and felt like sinking down again. "Worst part's over, right?" Elliot asked, more for the sake of saying something than actually believing it. She had no idea what laid beyond in the gym. She could hear the sounds of faint yelling and things moving.

Her thoughts suddenly went to Andy and Kim. Her face dropped as she remembered Andy's leg already in bad shape. "Oh my God, Andy," she said more to herself than to Lexie. She swallowed hard and looked at Lexie as they carefully made their way to the door. "We've got to get out there."

"Got you," she heard and Lexie couldn't help but whimper. She may not have directly used her injured shoulder, but the movement alone was enough to make her think that she'd jammed the shelf right back into it. Lexie's eyes closed and her abs clenched. She would not be screaming. She would not be crying. She would keep this all under immediate control.

"Worst part's over?" Elliot asked and Lexie didn't respond. She'd set her mind to thinking that this was not as bad as it was going to get. The sounds of yelling and shifting rubble made her believe that her clinic was as much in ruins as her room. Dammit to hell.

"Andy?" Lexie's brow rose. Andy was here? Why was he here? "Is something wrong with his leg? He didn't rip it open again, did he? I told him to be careful.." The thought of her patient momentarily took Lexie outside of her self, even as she climbed over the rubble with the help of Elliot.

The hallway was barely recognizable. The walls seemed bent and cracked and off center. Lexie wasn't sure how much of the leaning was due to her own off kilter sight. "What happened?!" She asked quietly, her tone a mix of amazement and horror. The gym was at the end of the hallway; but the doors were not there and she could see where the cots were riddled with both people and rubble. Her clinic was in ruins.

"Andy's fine." Or he had been ten minutes ago, now was anyone's guess. Elliot tried not to think about him trying to get out of the way of flying debris on a bad leg. "He told me and Kim about the clinic and brought us here," she said, in an attempt to keep talking and taking her mind off of the different senarios running through her head. "He told me you used dental floss on his leg. Mint."

They stepped out of the room rogether and for the first time Elliot looked down the hallway towards what had been the gym and the clinic. She swallowed hard, feeling a sudden urge to cry.

She was pretty sure Lexie didn't need or want an answer to her exclamation and instead kept moving down the hallway towards the others. Her side was aching and the sudden sunlight through the now open ceiling was making her head pound, but not nearly as fast as her heart as they got closer and could see the damage. She spotted a pair of shoes she recognized. "Kim?" she asked, her voice high and squeaky and rough all at once. The blood soaked shirt on Kim's face came into view and Elliot's breath hitched, causing her side to protest. Further away she could see Andy struggling to help a woman out.

Elliot turned to Lexie. "Check on her, I'm going to go help him."

Derek Zoolander had finally made his way to the gym, and his face lit up in delighted relief when he saw the cots. "Wow! This is actually pretty nice!" he commented happily. "Maybe the Red Cross heard about us, and sent some..."

His optimistic discourse was cut short, however, when the ground started to shake and one of the basketball hoops crashed to the ground, crushing some of the cots. "Oh, snap!" he exclaimed, watching people running every which way in a panic. Arms and legs appeared to be broken, and though Derek was no Einstein, it looked kind of serious.

He started to run in what felt like a good direction, but he ran headfirst into a bleacher stand. He staggered backward, raising a trembling hand.

Oh, God.

It was jagged, rough, and torn. Sharp around the edges like a harlequin sneer. Derek's voice rose in a loud, wailing shriek as he realized what had happened to him.

"I BROKE A NAAAAIIIIIILLLLLLL!!!!!!!"

Laurie turned far to fast towards the voice that had returned her question. She felt a sudden pain in her ankle and prayed to God that it was just a sprain. She winced in the pain and was about to call out to the voice when she heard a male's cuss behind her. She didn't answer right away but a series of other screams including what sounded like to be Wolverine's colorful language and someone screaming about a broken nail. She could deal with the cussing but the broken nail comment pissed her off.

"Why don't you get over it and help them out! She yelled to the man and gestured to the female voices behind her. Fuck it! she thought to herself as she decided to throw all her weight onto her stuck leg to try to push it into a new position to be pulled out. If they didn't move fast the building will be on top of them.

"This will sound fucked up but please, yell out where you are!" she was hoping to figure out how many were in the building and where to get them out. Right when she finally pulled her leg out that is...

The first thing Kim felt upon waking was the blinding pain in her arm. The second thing was that she wasn't alone. Someone was making movement nearby, and she should really try to open her eyes because lying here feeling like she wanted to simultaneously throw up and cry and scream until she lost her voice really wasn't helping matters.

"An...dy?" She hazarded, trying hard not to move, lest she bump her arm and send the agony shooting through her again. Her face felt sticky. So did her arm. She could just guess what she was sticky with. She coughed twice and stretched the fingers of her good arm toward what she thought--hoped--was Andy, and not just a pile of rubble, her fingertips brushing mostly pebbles and drywall and maybe-oh please-hair. She hoped he was still breathing. She couldn't turn her head to see who the third man was, because she was still sort of trapped under the cot, but she prayed he was here to help. Then she heard the request, through her fuzzy head, to indicate directions. She'd try. She might pass out again, but she'd try.

"IN THE MEDICAL BAY!" She shouted, and then fell into a coughing fit again, tears pricking at her eyes. "I think there's two of us--maybe three--" She didn't know where Elliot was. What the hell had happened? Had that been an earthquake? It felt more like the end of the world. Kim had this awful feeling that she now knew what the first aid kit was for. She had the even worse, paranoid feeling that someone had given it to her because they'd known...but that was stupid. She'd lost too much blood and she wasn't thinking straight. No one was that evil. Not even Jim.

A slew of expletives loudly filled the air in an angry, maybe pained, male voice and Andy winced at the way the sound richocheted roughly through his already pounding head. Kid? "If I'm a kid...you must be fucking ancient," he managed to huff out in response, trying to smile. It was Andy's nature to try to make the best out of things, but the smile didn't take and he couldn't see a bright side here.

He felt a hand in his hair and in his dizzying attempt to focus, for half a second his mind went straight to Luna. His head in her lap and her fingers in his hair before everything had gone to shit. But he heard his name and it wasn't in Luna's accent. It took him a second, but, it clicked. "Kim or Elliot?" he asked stupidly, unsure of which female the voice belonged to, even if he was pretty sure, given the proximity of it, that it was Kim.

All the screaming, between trying to communicate and the male voice that proclaimed in agony that he'd broken a nail - Get over it, fucker, and come help us!, Andy thought angrily - was giving him a splitting headache. He turned his attention to the first guy and, with effort, bent his head back enough to look up at him. "Yeah, man, get me outta here," he all but begged. "Get me out and then go help her," he said, nodding (with a wince of pain) toward the door that would've lead outside if it wasn't all but blocked with debris, now. "I'm stuck, but I'm okay, I think."

He looked over at Kim, then, blinking blood out of his eyes from a gash on the forehead he hadn't realized he'd obtained. "Hang in there, okay?" he asked. "Hold still. Are you okay...?"

Logan gave his head a shake, mostly to clear it. "Oh, for fuck's sake, grow some testicles, quit screaming like a five year old girl!" He barked in Derek's general direction. "And HELP, you fucking moron!"

Then, in a much calmer, nicer tone. "Have you two out from under in two shakes." He promised, ignoring the snarkery. The beams were heavy enough that lifting them (as opposed to pushing them) was going to be a problem.

Solution? Cut the fuckers. "Hold still." He warned both of them. He popped a claw with the usual distinctive *snikt*, then slashed through the beam well to either side of Andy, yanking the (much lighter) remainder off of him, then turning to do the same thing for the girl. He slashed through basketball pole, then the cot, with a fine disregard for its future usefulness.

"Kim," she said to Andy, who she still couldn't see, but could now hear. "It's Kim. Um." Was she okay? Well, she was alive, so, for a given definition of 'okay'... "Mostly it's just my arm. It. Uh. Snapped? Let's talk about something else now--" she pleaded, not wanting to think about how mangled it might have become under all that glass and wood and metal.

Then she heard the 'snikt', and hadn't a clue what that sound meant except rescue. Ironically, even if she had known what Logan was doing, she was one of few people who would have accepted it completely at face value--after all, Edward had a similar hand-addendum. As it were. She held perfectly still as directed, waiting until the pieces were lifted off her, taking the time to appreciate the smaller wounds now that she was trying to stop thinking about her arm. There was skin hanging loose on her cheek that flapped awkwardly whenever she spoke, and every time she stretched out her fingers to reassure herself that Andy was still there, she could feel the tiny shards of glass that had embedded themselves in her forearm prickling. This was much more unpleasant than a cheerleading injury. She was actually sort of proud of herself for only having fainted the once. Generally speaking she was a screamer, not a fainter, anyway.

At last she felt most of the weight of the cot and basketball hoop being lifted from atop her back and arm, and she bit her lip, whimpering softly as it was jostled. Kim knew everyone was being as careful as they could and she didn't want to make them feel bad that they were hurting her, because it was unavoidable. She really was grateful that they were digging her out.

"Thank you," she said, and was ashamed to hear how tiny and afraid her voice sounded. "Thank you so much." I will not cry. I will not look at my arm, and I will not cry.

Andy grunted a little as he tried to move again, unsuccessfully as the other man shouted almost exactly what Andy was thinking at the goddamn broken-nailed cry baby motherfucker across the room. "Kim, okay," he said quietly, dropping back down, spent with failing effort to free himself. He winced for her when she said that, essentially, her arm was broken.

When the other man, the one closest to him, told them to hold still, Andy did his best. He heard a strange sound and was dying to look, but he waited until he felt the weight lifted off him. As soon as was physically possible, Andy dragged himself forward out of the rubble and rolled onto his back, catching his breath, exhausted again. He lolled his head to the side to check on Kim and his eyes widened upon seeing the other man...and just what that sound had been. "Jesus! Jesus Christ!" he gasped in surprise, blinking hard in an effort to ensure he was actually seeing what he was seeing.

Seeing Kim still reaching for him, Andy reached out and took her hand - carefully, in case she hurt that, too - and rubbed a thumb over hers. "Hang in there, gimme a sec, Kim..." he panted, still trying to catch his breath. Looking back up at the man who had freed them both, Andy paled slightly. "Hey man, the girl by the door. Or...there's Lex. I dunno where Doc Lex is. Or Elliot - pretty blonde girl, about my height give or take..." he said slowly, wanting to make sure he was very clear and able to be understood; that his words weren't lost in gasps for air or mumbled inadvertently.

Andy let go of Kim's hand and, with effort, rolled onto his stomach again and then pushed himself up onto all fours. He wasn't far enough away from Kim, he didn't think, to merit the pain and effort it would take to push himself all the way up to his feet, so he crawled closer to her, careful not to knock any of the debris around her - or Kim, herself, for that matter. The gash on her cheek was the first thing Andy noticed when he was up close and his mouth opened as he lifted a hand to cover it, closing his eyes and fighting a wave of nausea. Don't you fucking puss out now, Gallagher, he thought and let out a deep breath in a huff, opening his eyes again and looking back at her.

"Okay...oh, shit, okay..." he tried to psych himself up. "Kim, this is gonna sting like a fucker, okay, but hang on for me..." he said and, groaning slightly from the sore muscles moving in his shoulders, Andy pulled his shirt off and crawled closer to her. The shirt was probably dirty. No, definitely dirty, but Andy used to watch Rescue 911 as a kid; he knew she'd need pressure on that particular wound to try and stop the bleeding and there was no way he was putting his bare, bleeding hands on it. Wrapping the shirt around one of his hands, Andy carefully scooted closer, still, to her and gave her an apologetic look as he pushed his wrapped hand gently against her cheek to apply pressure. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry," he said quietly and then, "where are all the motherfucking doctors?!" he shouted over his shoulder in frustration.

He could see the tears brimming in her eyes and Andy's own eyes caught sight of her arm, turning his stomach again at the awkward, unnatural angle of it. "Hey, Kim? Look at me, okay? Elliot will come back and she'll fix you right up. Or Doc Lex. Doc Lex fixed me up when I fucked up my leg, okay, and she'll take really good care of you when we find her, I know it," he said, trying to distract her. His free hand went to hers again - the one on the uninjured arm - and he gave it a gentle and -hopefully - reassuring squeeze. "Just hang in there, okay. If you could be anywhere in the whole world with anyone in the whole of the universe right now...where would you be? Who'd be with you?" he asked, wanting very much to take both their minds off the pain and thinking that disjointed and random conversation was about the only thing that came to mind that might work.

Logan winced when Andy freaked out, but didn't comment. He'd be getting that a /lot/ today. "Calm down, kid. They're probably buried under shit themselves." He pointed out, the claw sliding back into his forearm before he stopped, head cocked, listening intently for a moment. He didn't need screams. He could locate people from the slightest sounds. "Got 'em. I'll have 'em out in a jiffy. You two stay put and don't go jostling anything until one of the docs get over here." And then he headed off to deal with the next person in need of assistance. Who just happened to not even be in the gym. "I'll be back with the others."

Looking over his shoulder to check the progress on the girl stuck under the rubble by the door, Andy was both angry, frustrated, and incredulous to see that the man who had so mercifully freed both he and Kim from their respective debris restraints had completely left the building, ignoring the girl Andy had pointed out to him twice.

"You fucking dolt!" Andy snapped angrily, face hot with anger and annoyance that he now had to try and do it himself when the other man was clearly in better shape. "Idiot," he muttered and then turned back to Kim. "Hey, hold that thought?" he asked gently, moving their intertwined hands up to her face. "Hold this. I'll be right back, Kim, okay? I promise. I'm just gonna go help that other girl. All right? Don't move, just hold the shirt against your face and I'm coming right back for you, I swear," he promised her, locking his eyes on her so that he knew she would understand.

With that, he very carefully extracted his hand from the shirt and let go of her hand with his other. "Hey, I'm coming, hang on," he called out to the unidentified female still amongst the rubble.

Andy hissed in pain when he stood, limping as fast as he could manage toward where he thought her voice had come from. He could see her struggling, or so he assumed with the debris moving slightly in one spot. "Hold still, it's gonna take me a sec," he admitted, knowing that he was nowhere near as strong as he probably needed to be to do this in a timely fashion.

"Kim, hey, you know what? Keep talking to me okay? I cut you off, but go ahead and answer the question I asked you," he called over his shoulder, wanting to continue to keep her distracted from her pain as he started moving around pieces of plaster and splintered wood.

"Hey, you under there? Can you hear me? You okay? I'm Andy," he said. Some sick, morbid humor in him gave him the urge to tack on, and I'll be your rescuer today, in a similarly fake tone to that of which he'd said, and I'll be your server today, when he'd worked at Tracy's diner back in Guthrie. "Listen, it's gonna take me a few tries to get all this shit off you, okay, so keep talking to me so I know I'm in the right place. And tell me if anything I move hurts you," he added. "What's your name?"

Laurie couldn't see Logan run out the door but definitly heard him. What the fuck?!She thought to herself. True she needed the help but she knew there had to be at least four more people that had yelled back at her for help. Why had he left before even taking a glance in their direction? She shook her head at the man and decided to worry about that later.

For a moment Laurie thought she was on her own with all the stuff that had her pinned in an odd way, not to mention the strain she could feel that warned her if she pulled on her left leg anymore it would surely break. What use would she be as a masked hero let alone a member of the Night Watch if she had a broken leg? Laurie let out a stream of curse words in frustration. The sudden voice of a man near her surprised her.

"Andy...?" she said surprsied by the name. "I can help you lift it off but I think there are some more piled on it..." she tried to move again but the strain in her left leg shot back at her. "I'm Laurie. Thank you for helping me, I swear I'm not always this weak." she let out a nervous laugh. "What about the others? I can't turn my head in their direction without pain, what's happening to them?" she was worried that she had been away from helping them for too long. She was a better hero than that, if only she hadn't let herself get hurt. The cuts in her arms she could deal with later and ignore...being trapped was another story...

Tonks had seen quite a bit of damage in her young age. Cuts and bruises, concussions and even a few broken bones. Some were due to her job, a hazardous one with fighting and such. And some were due to her natural state.

So, she was used to that sort of stuff. Not used to having them without magic to patch her up, but that wasn't what was on her mind yet.

What was on the woman's mind was the fact that the earth was moving. She had been walking through the hall to the main gym area to meet up hopefully with the doctor there. Mostly just to say hi and introduce herself, and also offer the potions that Tonks was going to be working on to add to the inventory. It was in the hall that she noticed something was..off.

The shelves were rattling, trophies clattering to the floor. "What the fuck?" Tonks had never been through an earthquake. They weren't exactly common in England. But before she could even really realise what it was, more things started happening. The glass around her in the hall broke, shattering and flying at her. Arms were put up to protect her eyes, causing little nicks and gashes. She was trying to run, but that was a bit hard. In fact, she stumbled and ran into the wall more than once. But still, other than the gashes, she was alright.

It wasn't until the shaking nearly stopped that Tonks' foot tweaked and found one of the broken tiles. She flew forward, though her foot stayed put, and landed in such a way that it was at an angle that feet oughtn't be. "Fuck!" Cried out. It hurt! She tried to get up from the floor, but that just made it hurt more.

"Hullo!" She called out from the hall. "Hullo!"

Derek recoiled affectedly, his lower lip wibbling, when so many people started yelling at him to help. Couldn't they see that he was in crisis? His nail was actually broken, and it threw off the symmetry of his manicure. He started to bawl after Wolverine's comment, fleeing the gym. He didn't care anymore if he ran into GODZILLA. He just hated it when people yelled at him. He was more sensitive than most, quick to love and quick to tears. It was one of Derek's many, MANY failings.

Out in the hallway, he could see a woman on the floor, and her foot and ankle looked totally yuck. Not only that, she was cut and bruised. Derek thought first about asking If she could look at his nail, but since she looked like she needed help, he reached for a comb he'd fashioned from a few sticks and a pinecone. "Here. I know you don't want to hear it right now, but your hair is whack."

She was trying not to focus on that, though. Needed to get out. "One sugarplum fairy.." Muttered when she tried to move again. "Aah!" Cried out, face all scrunched up. Calm down, Nymphadora.

I mean, you're probably a pretty hot chick, usually, but right now you could use some product and a good shampooing." he held the comb out again. "It's not the best... but it will help, hopefully."

He stared when she asked him to help her up. "What, with my broken nail? How can I do that?"

"I'll take your word for it." She spoke dryly, trying very hard to keep her patience. It was difficult to do so when one's whole body ached and one was freaked out but didn't want to show it. Earthquakes were frightening. Tonks never wanted to go through that again.

"You've..a broken nail. A sodding broken nail?" Great. She paused, thinking. "With your other hand, maybe? The not broken-nail one? Promise I won't break nothing." A lie, because she couldn't promise anything like that, but white lies were okay.

Of course, gullible idiot that Derek was, that promise seemed not only credible but perfectly logical. "Oh... yeah... I guess I CAN do that," he said, taking a step back and offering Tonks his left hand. "Just be careful, OK? I'm Derek Zoolander, three time male model of the year winner! That was some whack earthquake, wasn't it?"

"Tonks. Nice to meetcha." She took his left hand, specifically his left hand, and tried to get up.

This wasn't going to work, because it hurt too much to really move. Pretty was going to have to help Tonks get to the gymnasium proper, and Tonks wasn't going to be able to walk. She'd have to lean on him. "Whack." Agreed, sniffling because tears were falling with how much it hurt. "Don't like 'em."

Tonks paused, still sniffling. "Male model? Ever haveta model with a bird and carry her?" With a penchant for mischief, Tonks could be very convincing when she needed to be. And, Merlin's beard, she needed to be convincing.

It took Derek a moment to realize why she was crying. Maybe her boyfriend didn't like pink hair and had broken up with her? Maybe she was crying because he'd told her it looked whack? The truth was, Derek had never actually been hurt badly enough for physical pain to make him cry, except maybe when he was a little kid in Jersey. But with the memory of a squid, Derek only thought that she was upset about her appearance. God, he sure was! "Don't worry. We'll find a way to give you a makeover, soon. You'll be totally hot then, and then you won't have to cry anymore, because being really really ridiculously good-looking solves most of life's major problems."

He did a double take. "A bird? Well... one time I did a shot with a flock of canaries for Prada. But it's hard to carry a bird, and I wasn't supposed to touch them because they aren't as clean as airbrushing makes them look."

Re: 1340 - The Doctor, Sid, Gambit, Watanuki, Edward and.. hopefully a doctor? A *real* one.

It had been a long walk... er, hop... but it seemed that they were finally at the gym. Initially, it scared Edward... there were so many injured people, and so much chaos surrounding them, that he sort of wanted to turn and hop away, but he knew he wouldn't get far with the heavy shears overbalancing him. He needed someone to reattach his leg. Not that it was urgent; he was remarkably good-humored about the whole thing, not being in any pain or rush to get somewhere quickly, and it seemed like lots of people, Watanuki included, were way worse off.

"I've already lost it," he protested quietly, glancing at the stump his leg should have been attached to, "haven't I?" Nevertheless, he kept a sharp eye on it until Gambit put it under his cot where he couldn't. He nodded to show that he understood, his hands still twitching (they always did) but he made an effort to remain as still as possible. The last thing someone needed right now was for an Edward-related accident to occur.

The Doctor, Sid, Gambit, Watanuki, Edward OTA real doctor

The trip from the theater to the gym had seemed to take forever in Watanuki's mind. He had bit his lips several times to avoid complaining about the pain - there was no helping it, with only two and a half people in their group being able to walk, and it would only serve to further annoy Gambit.
He gave a sigh of relief when he was set down on the cot, happy to get relieved of Edward's leg. He didn't want to admit it but he found the whole thing rather gross, and would be more than happy to see the limb reattached to his friend as soon as possible.

He managed a half-grin after the speech about not dying. "I'll try," he said. Someone had already said something similar to him, a long time ago. "Thank you."
He closed his eyes for a moment. It was wonderful to be able to rest, though he'd need to get a doctor to look at his leg soon. And there was something he was forgetting. Oh, right.
"You..." he said, trying to form a coherent sentence. "What's. Your name?"

Watanuki turned to Edward, focusing on the man's thin figure.
"All. Right?" he croaked through parched lips. He couldn't come to terms to the idea that Edward could be fine even after losing one leg. His had just been crushed and hurt like hell.
"A Doctor?" he asked. It seemed as if the gym had been set out like a hospital, so he hoped there'd be doctors around. Though, with one eye almost fully covered with blood, his field of vision was somehow limited.

The Cajun flashed Watanuki a smile and lifted his eyebrows when the Asian boy questioned his name, but straightened up a second later and pushed his hands comfortably into his pockets. "Gambit." The simple answer to the simple question. And with a deep breath, the red-head was moving aside, to allow Watanuki to be able to talk to Edward without someone between them. And that was when he was taking his chance to slip back towards the door as unnoticed as possible, red eyes briefly seeking out the Doctor. You were on your own to get out of there, friend! He gave a short wave, before deftly making the escape to freedom, out the way he'd come in.

[OOC - Somehow, I've managed to screw up and delete both of my posts in this thread. *dies* I was fixing a typo in the top one but deleted the bottom one by mistake and when I refreshed the top one was gone too and I'm so confused, but.. well. I think it's okay, because both people Gambit talked to in his post have replied. *Fail*]
