"I'm sure," Sam said, grinning faintly at Andy's reference to the cougar. "Yeah, I guess it is pretty nice outside," Sam said realizing that he hadn't actually paid much attention to the warmth of the outdoors as much as tried to deal with an overly bright sun.
Sam sighed and shook his head. "She's not my girlfriend," he corrected, even thought he knew full well that Andy was kidding. He still felt a need to clarify it, maybe for himself more than anyone. He knew he was beginning to develop feelings for Shannon that weren't strictly the friend kind. He also knew it was a bad idea. Mostly because of their situation and least of all because she didn't seem to think the same about him.
Andy's sarcasm made Sam's grin return. "Yeah, Andy, I was thinking you should run for mayor. What do you think?"
