And stayed quiet for a moment or two before talking again. "It's a bit weird, knowing that you're from someone else's past." It would likely be even more weird if Tonks ever found out what happened. Time-travel rules were there for a reason, though.

"Where are you from, Doctor? D'you mind if people call you Doc?" If it was his name, the title, then she supposed that it would be more polite to ask first whether a shortening was alright.
