Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:!complete, day 08, location: gym, merope gaunt, rorschach

Who: Merope & Rorschach
Where: Outside late at night, you know...like she's not suppose to.
When: Late at night? After 10
Why: For the lol.

Merope managed to get out, she wanted to be alone in the Gym area when she decided to wash up. On her way there, she washed herself off, hoping to clean the infection but she found out that it hurt much more than she wanted. Afterwards, she moved with uneasiness and grabbed her clothing after she finished washed and moved outside. Using a nearby towel, she walked in the direction towards the forest, thinking about what happened only eight days ago.

She was not thinking of her safety, but of the situation and how she came here.

Of course, what Logan had told Rorschach about grabbing women and scaring them flew out the window when he saw his own partner wandering around in the dark, going towards the weevil-infested forest of all places. He quickly seized her from behind, hands locked tight around her wrists, and he shook her roughly.

"Is late. Is dark; is DANGEROUS. Why couldn't you wait for me to come back? Am your partner. Would have gone with you." For a gravelly monotone, Rorschach's voice sounded angrier than usual.

Merope stared at the forest, her eyes closed as she relived losing her child. The girl was about to start tearing up like a child when she felt a quick seize of her limbs and lock, shaking her roughly. As Merope wasn't any girl, she was used to such rough treatment and even though she shivered and sniffled in intense fear, she hadn't shrieked.

However, she didn't like to be grabbed and she cowered into him, her hair hiding her face. The sound of his deep, hard voice with no kindness in it.

She hated to be grabbed as it reminded her of her family, she reacted rather badly by her cowering and avoiding his gaze. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry....I'm sorry. Never again, I'm sorry." Merope shivered beneath in his shadow,"...Forgive me, please."

"Please." Merope begged, acting more submissive than usual due to the situation.

Rorschach had never had a family, beyond his mother and, later, the odd, accepting dynamic of the Watchmen. He resisted the urge to twist Merope's wrists, which was usually the next step after grabbing a person if they weren't cooperative. If that didn't work, he resorted to breaking fingers. When Rorschach broke fingers, it just didn't not work.

He didn't release Merope yet, even though she seemed unusually compliant. He appreciated that, but felt that he needed to drive his point across, to make sure that the girl would understand. "Is dangerous in forest. Are things that can hurt humans. Is NOT SAFE. Mustn't let it happen again. Could have died." The tone of Rorschach's voice hadn't changed, but that wasn't terribly unusual for him.

"I'm so sorry, Rorschach..." Merope only felt bad that she'd done something he was very passionate about her not doing. The guilt was far too much for her,"I am bad, I"m sorry." She cowered as much as she possibly could into his body, trying to find his face but she was unable to see it due to both the darkness and his mask.

"P-Please don't hurt me, I'm sorry I was bad. I'm sorry. D-Do you not want to be around me?" She raised her head a little in his direction, whispering her words to not seem threatening or argumentative at all.

"I am an idiot, please don't hate me." As much as she wanted to turn around, his stretch kept her from doing that.

Rorschach let her go, slowly and carefully so she wouldn't trip and fall, the motion detached but gentle.

"Are not bad, but did foolish thing. Must never do again. Must be around you, now, to make sure. Can't trust to stay away from trouble, when have shown that you go looking for it." he turned away, putting his hands in his pockets after turning up the collar of his trench coat. "Would not hurt you. Only would hurt things that hurt you. Have no reason, to hate you. Only reason to worry; is duty to look after partner."

Merope took a few gasps to compose herself from the sudden fear he brought on her. How curious he made her because she couldn't feel the warmth of his hands or see his face, this made her feel more curious than normal. Moving around him, she reached up to touch the fabric on his face,"I will never do that again, I was thinking, I am sorry..." Merope made the note so he would look at her, so he would remembered that she said that and paid attention to what was said.

"I didn't mean to make you angry..." She mumbled lowly, lowering her eyes and removing her hands.

"Am not angry. Can walk back to clocktower all right?" Rorschach asked, not changing his demeanor in the slightest when Merope touched his face. He was completely willing to carry his partner, of course, but he didn't want to simply grab her and toss her over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.

He straightened his mask. "Won't let you get hurt. Duty as partner. Have my word. But have to protect yourself, too."

Merope watched him, her eyes looked over his face a little as the fabric's spots moved around in patterns. Her index finger traced the black spots at moved moved, never in the same place twice. When he finally spoke, her eyes widened and she pulled her hand back.

Should she really have done that?

Who knew.

"Don't worry...I am okay." Merope bit down on her lip, as he straightened his mask out. She started walking as she did before, quite slowly.

Rorschach watched Merope's gait carefully, wondering if she could really make it all the way back to the clock tower without assistance.

The masked hero had his doubts.

Striding briskly so that he was walking slightly ahead of Merope, he abruptly knelt in front of her. "Climb on back. Wrap arms around neck; don't choke or tug on face." Though Rorschach was short, Merope was shorter and lived up to the name "Gaunt", and he therefore was certain that he could carry her with a fair amount of ease.

Just as she believed she might not make it, refusing his help due to burden, she saw him knelt in front of her. Her faint heart felt like it could skip two beats from his sudden moment of kindness. It took her a moment to think about her situation before she submitted and leaned forward against him.

Leaning forward, she whispered near his ear,"...Thank you, so much." Her arms moved around his neck but rested mostly on his shoulders and chest. She pressed her cheek to the side on his back and rubbed the warm fabric there.

Rorschach felt Merope's slight weight against him, and listened to her whispering. Something about a woman whispering to him in the dark, especially saying such grateful things, made him feel a certain way he wasn't quite certain he could identify.

"Is fine," he answered shortly, standing without difficulty and heading back toward the clocktower. He kept his eyes and ears out for any out-of-place sights or sounds, worried that they could still potentially get attacked.

"Need to find doctor for you. Tomorrow at latest."

Rorschach's voice was a sedating lullaby, whether he wanted to admit it or not. The depth of his voice was like a low, humming frequency similar to a car rocking you to sleep. The deep vibration of his voice through his back was more comforting than she could ever get willingly.

Merope's frame slacked a little bit when she relaxed against him,"I like hearing your voice through your coat." She whispered as lightly as she could so no other could hear her comments.

"Do I burden you?" Merope asked, hoping she didn't hear the answer she didn't want to hear slip through his lips.

Rorschach continued to walk, supporting Merope under the knees with his muscular arms. He was unsure how to respond to her whispered words, shrugging and deciding that it was a good thing. If he did things that his partner incidentally liked, that was also good.

"Are not a burden. Are also not idiot," he said, referencing Merope's earlier statement. "Must not act like one. Understand?"

Gosh, she loved the sound of his voice and how it sound through his back as if his voice came from his chest and not his throat. It'd been the first tie that anyone ever carried her, she felt a little silly having done so but would never say that allowed. Straightening herself a little, she moved her head a little so she could kind of watch the black spots move around on his mask.

As before, she found herself very curious and reached her hand and and lightly touched his face on the fabric until he started talking again and stopped. "I understand." Even though she said she wouldn't choke him, she squeeze him for only a second in a embrace.

Under his mask, Rorschach's weather-beaten and toughened face could feel Merope's soft fingertips. His mask was his most valued possession; he only owned it because a woman had thought that the material, once part of a dress, was ugly. It was not ugly. It was very beautiful, with no grey spots, only black and white. Like good and evil. Rorschach loved that it was divided.

"Know of doctor. Will take you to see. Is woman; probably knows about woman, baby-making parts."

"You found one?" She perked up lightly, her fingers moving again to touch his toughed face on the soft, gentle fabric. While she didn't know his expression or his feelings on how it felt, she was easily stroked his face as tenderly as she could.

"Rorschach? I...was wondering, do you have another name?" She tilted her she and brushed her cheek on him in an affectionate manner.

"Yes. Doctor's name is Lexie," Rorschach explained, shifting Merope's slight weight on his short but strong frame. "Can take you tonight or tomorrow. But need to go."

He was quiet following Merope's question about another name. "No. Am just Rorschach," he answered after the considerable lull, as the clock tower came into view.

Merope felt her weight shift a little on his back, her back slacked a little more. Even though she was well aware that she should try to hold her own weight and not become dead weight, she trusted him enough to hold onto her lithe, gaunt shape on his back. Her one arm stayed on him and her other affectionately stroked the fabric on his face against his cheek, throat and nose until her body became very limp against him.

"Rorcsch?" She whispered.

"Will you always be here?" She asked.

Rorschach could feel Merope's tired weight slacken against his strong back, and if he had to name the feeling... it was like trust, that single occurrence.

"Will be here until death," Rorschach said, matter-of-factly, climbing the clocktower without giving any sign that he was tired. "Are very light. Probably should eat more," he suggested.

While she didn't like the sentence she used, it had still made her smile. The two had spent alot of time together and there was no contemplations on whether she needed to think about trusting him or not. "I will.." She said, rubbing her cheek against his back as affectionately as she could.

Whether or not he liked the love she offered, he was the only person who accepted it.
