Watanuki had just returned to the museum when he noticed the message Domeki had written in the journal. The short exchange that followed had him so rattled that he even forgot about taunting Domeki. It was as if even him, who was usually calm and composed, had been taken by surprise. Watanuki could hardly blame his friend. If there was someone walking around and looking like him...
Someone else had written in the journals saying that there were clones, but he had only been concerned about making sure he wasn't talking to a clone. The fact that a clone of himself might exist (and even worse that his clone might meet his friends) had completely escaped his mind. He shook his head, pacing the room up and down. It sounded like nonsense, but he'd seen too many strange things to disbelieve this. He wanted Domeki to arrive as soon as possible and explain everything.
He ran to the door and bolted it open as soon as he heard steps outside. Luckily it was Domeki. Sighing with relief, Watanuki waved at his friend even though they were just a few feet apart. "What took you so long?" he blurted out. "What happened? Is Tink okay?"
