Andy Gallagher is not the droid you're looking for ([info]brain_ninja) wrote in [info]vas_captio_rpg,
For a moment, Andy hesitated to answer the question Tonks posed. He'd walked right into it and he knew that, but he wasn't sure he should say. Luna had called it an unforgivable curse, in just so many words. From the sounds of things, Tonks was from the same ilk, so it was highly likely that she was going to agree with the sentiment and he didn't want to shoot himself in the foot so soon with her. The last thing Andy needed was another person who wanted nothing to do with him.

The possibility of using it to tell her she didn't really want to know briefly flitted through his head and he set his jaw, looking down. That was why it was lame. He'd gotten so used to using it casually to get little things he wanted out of life that he hadn't really stopped to think about how that would affect the people he used it on. Webber had obviously never thought about it...or worse, he had and hadn't cared. The latter was actually more likely the reality and that made his stomach turn. "It's...just this mind thing," he replied awkwardly after a long pause. "Really, I don't use it unless I have to, anymore, so it's pretty lame." Plus, it freaks people out where I come from, he thought with an inward frown.

The change in Tonks' tone when she processed what he'd said made him smile grimly in response. "Well, they tied me to Martha, which was bad enough because she was so much smaller than myself, but yeah. Tied us up and left us out in the mud and rain and sicced a cougar on us." He pointed to his ear which had since gone numb completely on him. "Then there was ripping a chunk of my ear off slipping in the mud and trying to keep from breaking my face on a tree when Martha and I tried to get the knife out of the tree - they left us a knife, but it was up too high to reach with our arms tied down," he added. "Sucked." He was numb, too, emotionally in reference to the experience, now. It felt small and insignificant now that the leg was dealt with and the two of them had lived through it.

To her generalized observation, Andy nodded solemnly. "At first I thought they were trying to kill us, honestly," he admitted. "Martha and I weren't the only ones tied up and left for dead. But then there were other experiments, I guess," he replied thinking about the bits he'd read about the people waking up naked beside complete strangers. "I feel like I got the shit end of the stick, man," he laughed.

A facial shrug of pensive approval followed Tonks' assessment of knowing where things were. Andy hadn't really thought of it that way, but that was a really good point, actually. "Well, maybe a little though, if they drop you in the woods since that shit all looks the same, but once you get to the street again if you know where shit is, yeah, good point," he agreed.

With a bit of effort, he took a few steps toward her and cringed slightly at the twinge of pain in the leg when he tried to go down one of the stairs. Up until just then, he'd just been walking around in the church a bit here and there and, at most, he'd paced the small porch. "Ah shit, this is annoying as hell," he muttered with a frown, ignoring the pain and making his way to the bottom steps and then into the snow which was now settling mid-calf. "Dude, this sucks...if it keeps coming down..." his voice trailed off. The idea of being snowed in with Luna when she wouldn't even look at him was unappealing. The idea of Dean being there, too, was even less so and he had no idea whether the older Winchester planned on coming back.
