The Morse Code wasn't lost on Jack -- military training tended to take over and Jack often found himself putting letters to random tappings. Hazard of his stolen persona, he supposed -- but in this case useful. He didn't know if the Weevils would listen to the tapping, but he hoped it could buy them some time. Anything would be useful right about now. Jack let the Doctor's tapping fade from his mind as best as he could and instead concentrated on the task at hand: getting the Doctor and Shannon out of the convenience store and safely.
He caught the look on Shannon's face and crossed to her, tipping her chin up with his index finger. "None of that. I'll be fine, Shannon. I promise." That she was concerned was endearing and made Jack like her all the more. Flirting tendencies aside, Jack genuinely liked Shannon -- all the more reason to get them out of this okay. "Besides, there's a chance they'll recognise me. Don't quite have the scary-power Owen has, but anything will help us right now."
Jack gave the Doctor one of his winning smiles. "A life for a life," He said cryptically, even if it was Rose who had made him as he was. Still, close enough. Looking over the fireworks, Jack guestimated the amount of time it would take them to go off and how far they could run. It would be close. "All right," Jack said, grabbing the pack of matches. "On the count of three. Start running and I'll buy you as much time as I can." He looked at Shannon. "Just... don't keep looking over your shoulder for me. Just go."
Holding open the door, he could see the Weevils circle closer. "Oi. Janet! Back off!" When none of them moved, Jack gave the two an apologetic look. "I tried," he said with a shrug. The first match was struck and Jack grinned. Really, he shouldn't be this giddy in life-or-death situations. "On the count of three. One - Two - Three."
