Entry tags:!complete, day 05, merope gaunt, rorschach

Who: Merope & Rorschach
Where: The Clock Tower where she is staying.
When: Day 5
Why: She's being unhealthy and dumb, lol.

Merope was curled in a small ball, her body had been cramping since she came back from that one day. The girl sighed and tensed up her small body, her hand rubbing her lower stomach with equally cold hand. At this point she was moaning and groaning, but she thought she heard the sound of someone coming, her eyes looked up and she painfully shifted her small frame and got onto her hands and knees.

The girl was easily frightened, she moved her lithe frame backwards and hid beneath a table where the darkness crept back by shuffling her feet and her heart started to race.

Gosh, she was scared. Being alone was so awful for her, she thought it might have been someone who killed that woman. If her weakened heart pounded so loud, if it weren't in her chest, she thought someone might have heard it.

"...No." She frowned.

Of course, it was only Rorschach.

Since appointing himself Merope's protector, the man had been playing the part diligently. He didn't want any mistakes, since he prided himself in his competence and wasn't about to let his partner get into any sort of trouble. Danger had a name, and Rorschach tended to think that it was his own name. He was a bit arrogant, that way. Entering the clock tower, he heard some scuffling and glanced over towards a table. A corner of the rug was turned up where someone had folded it over in their hurry. Slowly, Rorschach pushed aside the tablecloth like a curtain, revealing Merope.

"Should not hide down here. Dirty. Could get sick."

Her heart was racing, breathing was quickened due to how nervous she was. Each heavy thud made her feel faint in her chest, but she finally was revealed and opened. The girl was so afraid, so cramped that she just stared at him,"...I'm scared." Merope pressed her hands against the floor and whined.

"I'm hurting." She frowned, crawling out and using the table to pull herself up and sit on top of it. "A-Are you warm?" She frowned, remembering that he had such warmth without wearing much clothing. Merope lowered her head, feeling awful that she had to even ask him for anything. Merope lowered her hand to her lower stomach,"...It hurts." She frowned.

Rorschach stared for a moment. She was complaining about pain. He knew that women had lots of different pains, related to their child-bearing parts, but he honestly tried not to think about it too much. It made him feel uneasy and dirty to think too much about what women had under their aprons.

"Am warm," Rorschach said, shortly but obligingly, offering Merope a stiff arm to help her up. "Need... doctor?" As he often did, Rorschach paused before saying the last word in his sentence. It was often the only way people could even tell that he was asking a question in his characteristic gruff monotone.

Merope was such the coward, she couldn't manage to ask someone to help her other than Rorschach. When he offered his arm, she pulled him closer so it was against her stomach. The heat of his forearm there felt unbelievable, the frigid temperatures had even effected her clothing to a degree. "I don't know, don't leave me." She frowned, using him as her personal hot water bottle for the moment.

"Please, don't be mad." She innocently raised her free cold hand to his own and offered it a squeeze. "...Why are you so good to me? I don't deserve it." She bit down on her lip, her hesitant pain-ridden breathing had finally slowed after a while.

Rorschach would have found it odd that Merope attributed her desire for his help to cowardice; usually, people were afraid to ask him for help. He was an intimidating, gruff, ugly little man who typically had nothing but a rigid assurance that Armageddon was approaching if someone so much as said "hello" to him.

He paused, frowning, allowing his arm to remain against Merope's stomach. How could a girl get so cold and still be alive? "Won't leave." he reached over to the armchair, grabbing a woven blanket and wrapping it around Merope's shoulders. In Rorschach's opinion, women were whores... but Merope was too young and fragile and frightened to be either. She was nothing like them, and even Rorschach could find nothing to hate about her.

"Are feeling better? Or need doctor?" Rorschach asked, frowning, ignoring her question.

The blanket came to her, she swallowed quite hard but easily shifted pulling him closer. Slowly, she slipped off the table and moved to get closer and closer to him, her small arms wrapping around his probably tense body. "...I feel better, so much better." Merope hid her face into his top, finally relaxing her arms and shoulder.

"Will you stay with me?" She frowned, her fingers clutching the fabric against his shirt.

Rorschach's body was, indeed, tense, and not just because of the cold. He was never this close to women.

"Will stay. Have nowhere else to go, most likely," Rorschach answered bluntly, sitting for a moment and allowing himself to be embraced by Merope. He didn't have a problem with physical contact, like many antisocial people, but he seldom received it due to the way he smelled and the way he snapped and put others off.

"How long? And... are sure you don't need doctor?"

The way he tensed, she couldn't remove her arms from him. Merope tilted her head up, innocent eyes directing up at him, her chin resting on his stomach. "....Rorschach? Why do you like me?" She moved gently, her hands rubbing his back gently. "....I might.." She frowned.

"Oh, I'm so lonely.." Merope heaved a sigh.

"Like you because you're quiet. Not a whore. Agree with me." There were other, unsaid reasons. You tolerate me. You seem to like me, for what reason I can't quite fathom. You enjoy my presence, somehow. "But should get doctor, if sick, or hurt. Are not... hurt..." Rorschach frowned, wondering if she'd been hiding an injury.

There were many reasons why Rorschach made her feel accepted, it might have been his attention or the fact that he found her special. Granted, he'd been the only one that found her special at all, she took another deep sigh and brushed her cheek against his abdomen. "...I..was already looked at by the Doctor, I don't know if it is just me. I don't know if it's normal, I don't want to bother anyone with it..." Merope sighed.

"...I..I'm always tired, I'm in a lot of pain." Merope moved her hand to gesture to her breasts and her lower body. "Is it bad that I hope I never leave this place?" She raised her eyes to him slightly, one blue and one green eyes kept on him.

"I don't like it, it is much better than what I had where I came from, that's all." After talking so much she got quiet again, it looked like she might smile at him but it was defeated before it came to her face. At the moment, she was happy that Rorschach would stay with her.

Rorschach recoiled slightly when Merope gestured towards her feminine curves. She didn't have many, but that almost made the ones she did possess seem more threatening by comparison.

"Not bad thing to hope. Maybe what you left worse," Rorschach said, characteristically short, but not unkindly. "Think that you need doctor. Don't know about women parts, myself."

When he recoiled, she frowned,"You are mad at me?" The look she offered him was disappointment, she pulled her arms from him and crossed her arms over her chest. "Please....don't pull away...-- I-I...didn't mean to upset you." Merope shook her head, punishing herself for upsetting him.

"You are the only person to ever care for me, Rorschach." She whined as she lifted herself onto the table so her legs hung off. "P-Please come back.." She opened her arms a little for him.

"Not mad at you," Rorschach assured Merope, glad that she'd asked. It meant that his opinion was still the authority. "Not upset. Not easily upset by you. Don't worry so much." He fixed the "pulling away" situation by allowing Merope to draw him slightly closer.

"Not only person," Rorschach said gruffly, not saying that he did care for Merope, but definitely not denying it. Glancing down at her knees and the way her legs hung off the table, he seemed to get a little bit uncomfortable.

Merope did worry about what his opinion meant, what it would end up with if she were to upset him. When he finally came closer, she tugged him so her legs were on each side of him. She released a gentle, soft sigh when they were close again, clearing enjoying this more than anything else. Just as he responded,"No, I'm sure. You are the only one."

"I know, I can see." Her slender, delicate hands clutched his top and hid her face in his chest.

"...Rorschach?" She mumbled.

This was clearly not something Rorschach was used to. Though he experienced a lot of that, with Merope. The girl seemed so starved for affection, like Rorschach... but, unlike Rorschach, she craved it.

It baffled him that she wanted him so close to her. He was Rorschach... he was not a man who submitted to such base urges. He prided himself on it.

"What?" He mumbled, tugging backward slightly. Merope was holding him too tightly for him to pull away completely.

Merope was breathing easily, she felt so pathetic, depending on him as she did. Moving her head a little, she set straight so she could find his heart beat inside of his muscle toned chest. "Why are you sad?" She raised her mismatched eyes in his direction briefly before moving her head back to it's original position.

While she had been with Tom Riddle, her beautiful Tom, he did not love her and left her in the end. Merope was to never find someone to care enough for her to give her the will to live, but he had as he didn't seem to get very mad at her or yell. Even rejection seemed unlikely.

That was her biggest deal; he didn't push her away or make her feel like she was burden or weird.

Finding little fault, she continued lightly rubbing his back, not for anything more than to be affectionate. She expected nothing back from him, but he allowed her to cling as much as she wished.

Rorschach was sad for many reasons. Not that he enjoyed talking about any of them, because it only intensified his feelings of anger and resentment.

"Am not sad. Only feel angry about the way whores and degenerates have stake in world I protect," he said self-righteously. It felt strange to whine to someone... but there was a difference between whining to a psychiatrist and whining to a girl with her legs opened to him. "Work hard. Thankless, difficult job. Never rest. Sad for that reason."

Had Rorschach just admitted that he had feelings? Yes... it would appear that he had. In hindsight, it made him very bitter, but a young girl was hugging him so tightly and so supportively... his own mother had never held him like that.

Merope listened to the sound of his heart beat, she leaned her head back when he stated how his feelings worked and what upset him. She leaned back a little and released his clothing and her hands moved onto his forearms, her fingers gently touching them until she reached his hands. "Thank you for a job well done. --Has anyone ever...touched you?" Merope looked at him, her left hand taking his right and she held his wrist.

Pursing her lips, she moved slowly, so he wouldn't jerk back from her being too quick. Merope easily shifted so her head tilted down and rested her cheek against his palm,"...You are a good man, I feel so safe with you."

Thank you for a job well done.

It was something Rorschach hadn't heard in years. It didn't even matter what it was for, at this point. Whether Merope was trying to thank him on behalf of all the people he had saved from criminals, because of what he had done for her and her simple needs, or because he'd done a good job expressing himself just now.

"Are welcome." he puzzled for a second about being "touched". Of course he had been... though most of the contact he received was in combat.

In response to the supremely kind complement, Rorschach only mumbled, "Was right. You are not a whore."

Merope had such a love to give and had never been allowed, until now, to offer it and someone take it for what it was. She didn't mind showing him what he wanted to see or hear, so she moved a little and lifted her left hand to easily slip and interlace with his right one, then his left. "....Everyone thinks you are so cold, Rorschach, but you are not..." She rubbed her cheek against the top-side of his hands for a second.

"You are so warm. It is okay to do this, if you like it." Merope bit down on her lip for a moment, moving a little and she gave a very slight, slow smile. She did not grin at him, only a brief smile.

Rorschach stiffened again, unable to fully process that he wasn't "cold". The truth was, he was cold. Years of bitter cynicism had made him that way.

"Don't mind it," he allowed, "But shouldn't become a whore for me." He stared at their interwoven fingers, the corner of his mouth twitching upward in a forced, unpracticed expression that didn't reach his eyes.

He was trying to smile.

Merope preferred slow, loving movements that showed true support for him if he should need it. His words, admitting that he might have liked it gently,"...I..." Merope pursed her lips, her thoughts had begun to get to her. She thought of her father, her brother and how it crippled her.

She felt a familiar sensation in her nose, then up into her eyes and her cheeks turned red. It wasn't something he said or did, it was her and she couldn't face him. Merope breathed gently, after a few, given moments she had felt tears running down her cheeks.

"..Tell me this is alright." her words trembled, finger pulling his in to her collarbone. Merope grew quiet.

Rorschach stilled for a moment, staring stonily at Merope as she started to cry and asked him, beseechingly, to tell her that it was "all right."

Rorschach misunderstood.

"Is not all right," he said shortly, rising to his feet. "Are crying." he looked around for a moment until he found an old set of delicate lace doilies. There weren't any tissues around the clocktower, so... they would have to do, he decided. Bringing them over to his distraught partner, he haphazardly dabbed at her nose before dumping the rest in her lap.

Was it just so hard to be happy; To enjoy life the way it was without all the complications of her old one? Who knew. The mere thought of her husband made her upset, she'd done something bad, something Rorshach might not like by keeping it from him.

Just as he returned, wiping away the wetness on her face and dumping the rest on her lap, she wiped them away easily. Sniffling a little, she raised her slightly red eyes back to Rorshah's calming, hard face with no inclination that there was something negative about her being. Reaching over, she pulled him so he was closer to her again,"...I..want to tell you about me." Merope moved her hands to his sides and lightly rubbed him affectionately, but not more than that.

"I come from a place where men and women have magic, my line was from a long time ago. Famous. My ancestors dwindled it all away until there was nothing left, they were so obsessed with blood purity that my mother and father...you know...were siblings." She shifted uncomfortably at this,"...My father said I killed her and that I was a bad girl. He used to yell at me and hurt me because I could not do magic like them." Merope squirmed at the thought, pulling Rorshach as close as she could as she believed he would shove her for some reason.

"My brother too, he used to let snakes bite me because I didn't want to make friends with them and speak to them....I...was going to be married to someone rich, he was going to marry me to get me away from them. I..did not love him, but it was my duty and he promised me safety." She paused, seeming uneasy, did not especially like telling her story as it seemed strange.

"...My father ruined the union by saying things to the man's father. I never saw that man again. My..father told me that I had to make a child at whatever cost, I was told to marry my brother. I was the last resort." Merope seemed upset, her head unable to raise her head as she was feeling shameful. As if he would call her names, she couldn't even open her eyes.

"...I was fourteen then. I..was out..working on the property we owned so it would look alright. I saw a man...a handsome, nice man who smiled at me. I loved that man the moment I saw him, but he would have nothing of me." Merope bit down on her lip, looking at her necklace hanging from her throat. "He was not magical, he was not acceptable anyway but I loved him still." There was another pause, a drawn out one.

"My brother attacked him when he found out, arrested him. He told my father that I liked that man and he tried to kill me. I was saved by a group of Ministry Aurors and they took them to jail. I was very alone, I was afraid of what would happen if I left my home." The black haired girl gazed at him, she feared hearing that word that slipped from his lips so often.

"..I was able to do magic when they were gone, I used it to make him love me for a time. I thought that he would love me for real, but needed help. When I let him off, I was pregnant and he...was..so mad. He left me, I deserved it, I thought he would really love me, but he didn't. I was homeless after that, I could not go home or I would be killed. I...just..lived until my baby came. I wanted to die, my son...he was so beautiful. I just...I don't know....-" She trailed off for a moment or two.

"...You think I am a whore, don't you? Please, please don't say it. Please?" Merope clutched him tightly, fearful that she would be rejected. "..Say you still like me, please." She begged, her mismatched hues fixated on him.

It was interesting, a new perspective, for Rorschach to think about a mother who actually loved her child.

"Not a whore. Ridiculous to say that. Won't believe it," Rorschach said firmly. He had to pause before he could even acknowledge that he did like someone for a change.

"Still like you."

After unloading her problems basically on Rorschach, she basically saw that he still cared for her and liked her in some manner still. Merope was overwhelmed with emotions, both worried and happy that he said he still liked her. Gently, she moved to reached up and press a ginger soft kiss against a spot beside his mouth.

"Still like you too." Merope said in a mumbled tone.

She, finally, managed a light smile for him.

Rorschach was, for the most part, unaffected by the kiss, but he certainly looked puzzled. It was an odd feeling, to have someone's face so close to his own. It made him want to put his mask back on.

"Should go now. Much to do. Am masked hero," he said, standing abruptly.

His lack of effect was expected, she felt that she'd crossed the line and lowered her eyes immediately due to the puzzled look. Merope pressed her hands against the ground and stood up with a slight hitch in her breath from suddenly stretching. Instead of saying anything, she slipped her arms around his waist for a light hug, pulling away before he could return it if he had planned to.

"..Alright, I will...see you." Her voiced sounded slightly disappointed, but her expression in sadness didn't change any, it was difficult to really gauge her emotions when her face always frowned.
