Locke Lamora ([info]richercleverer) wrote in [info]vas_captio_rpg,
"That is true - but it isn't something you hear said very often." Leo turned his own look of surprise and admiration to Shannon and he couldn't help but grin a little. Part of what had made his job of mumming so easily was that he was often working within people's expectations - a merchant acts this way while a noble acts like that and Vadrans are always doing this or that. It was rare to run into anyone who was willing to look past that and, while he was impressed to see that Shannon was one of the few, it also put him a bit further on guard. "Not everyone is willing to look past the surface to see what swims underneath."

"Gucci and Prada? I know this is going to be a deadly shock but those names mean nothing to me." To his credit, Leo managed a laugh at his own ignorance - but that was mostly due to the fact that taking out his annoyance at the continued culture lag on Shannon would accomplish absolutely nothing. This constant state of bewilderment seemed to be something to which he was just going to have to become accustomed - as annoying as that might be. "You might be right about that dress, though. I wouldn't be entirely surprised to learn that it was stitched together by a blind seamstress who had lost her right hand in a tragic hemming accident and who had taken to getting blind drunk every night of her life in order to forget."

"These were once in style?" He asked doubtfully as he studied the pants a bit more closely. "Well, it would be hard to say that I've seen worse but there is no accounting for what one'll wear just for the chance to be in fashion."

"Hm? So you're going to get out of this shop without moving or breathing?" He offered a grin that was a large part amusement and a small part challenge. Not that he would deliberately cause her to embarrass herself but he sure as hell wasn't going to miss the chance to see where this bet sent the both of them. "I really can't wait to see how you manage that."

"Alas, my life's dream has been shattered," he sighed dramatically in response to her refusal to get naked in front of him but a rather large part of that was joking - he honestly hadn't expected her to agree to stripping down face to face and he was partially relieved to find that the suggested display was tall enough to do a decent job of hiding the both of them. "I'll even turn my back, if that'd make you more comfortable," Leo offered lightly. He was silently hoping that the offer would just seem the gentlemanly thing to do - even if his true intention was to keep Shannon from seeing the complex of scars scattered over his chest, torso, and arm. Not that he had any reason to believe that she would even notice or care if she saw them but he didn't want to have to flounder for a reason why a self-proclaimed priest would be marked so.
