Heather Mason ([info]tufui_egoeris) wrote in [info]vas_captio_rpg,
"For all we know, this could be anywhere," Cheryl responded glumly to the boy's question. To be honest, she'd already given up any trace of hope that she'd somehow managed to stay in Portland, or even the forests of the nearby country, but she couldn't quite imagine that they'd managed to slip between worlds; that, after all, typically came with a noticeable amount of pain - not to mention the obvious blood, rust, and twisted creatures lurking pretty much everywhere. "I think it's probably still Earth, though; we'd probably notice if someone tried to drag us into another world."

The unexpected normality of having someone introduce themselves shocked a small laugh from Cheryl but she quickly fought down that impulse; she already felt that it might be easy to give into a sense of shock, what with being dragged back into an unusual situation after just escaping one, and she had no desire to lose what little control she had on her situation. "I'm Cheryl Mason. It's...well, the situation makes it hard to say that it's nice to meet you, but I am glad to see someone else fairly normal."

Cheryl had just been about to admit that either getting out of the forest or finding someone else seemed like a damned fine plan when two things happened: the dark-haired girl seemed to finally calm and Watanuki tripped himself over something or other in the grass. The first allowed Cheryl to feel a slight bit calmer herself and the latter caused her to raise her eyebrows.

Finding a third box near at hand, Cheryl rummaged briefly through it, but she was rather disappointed to find that it contained the same as the others - much as the dark-haired girl had said. Still holding one of the socks, she stared at the other girl for a long moment and she found that there was a struggle within her - a an impulse to want to stay away from anything obviously outside of the realm of normal and a desire to stay near someone with whom she just might have in common. Eventually, the latter won out and she offered her a grin. "That's pretty useful. You wouldn't happen to be able to tell which way we should go, would you?"
