Watanuki nodded at the other girls. He didn't want to be left on his own, but didn't want to chicken out in front of them either. He managed a small smile.
"I'll do my best to explore this place," he said, heaving his box on a shoulder and stepping out of the door.
It was still daylight, but it wouldn't last for long. "Good luck to both of you," Watanuki said. "I hope I'll see you around soon, I'll try to get back here." Whatever happens, he added mentally, but he didn't say it.
His mood definitely sank when he turned a corner and his two companions disappeared from his sight.
