Who: Sam Winchester, Connor Temple
What: Initial Meetings
When: Day 1 - 11:30am
Where: Library
Rating: R
Status: Active

Sam had intended to stop when he got outside the diner, but that hadn't been good enough. His feet moved on their own accord as his mind reeled from the information that he'd managed to push Dean into giving him. It wasn't that he hadn't trusted Dean in his assessment that Sam was better off not knowing… Okay, maybe that wasn't entirely true. Sam had needed to know what was going to happen. He needed to know that his brother was going to be okay, that they were going to find a way out of his deal, and instead he'd found that he'd helped start the apocalypse.

He stumbled slightly when his foot struck a rock along side of the road and he paused for a moment, breaking out of his thoughts and actually taking in his surroundings. There was a white, official building with columns ahead of him. It looked like it might be some kind of town hall. He glanced over his shoulder, seeing the Diner a little ways off. He'd promised that he'd be back, but he didn't know that being around Dean right now was a good idea. How the hell was he even supposed to look him in the eye knowing what he knew how? No, he needed some time to himself. Some time to think without resenting Dean for trying to keep things from him and worrying that his brother secretly wished he'd payed closer attention to his dad's last wish.

He moved towards the building, walking up the stairs and letting himself in. It wasn't a Town Hall, but a library. Sam felt himself relax a little at the familiar smell of books, remembering hours spent in the library at Stanford and a dozen other towns when he was growing up. The lights were on as he made his way further inside the main floor and looked around. Maybe he'd be able to find something that would be able to tell them where they were. He moved towards the front desk, his eye only then catching sight of the man writing in a journal much like his. "Hi," he said with a sigh as he stopped a good few feet away from him. He gestured towards the book. "I'm guessing you're not the librarian."

Despite Connor's hopes and wishes, no one had come to find him in the library. Not that he was overly surprised. Having his close friends had been the only thing making the place bearable. And now? The only comforting handwriting he'd seen was Tonks'. No sign of Kimberly, or Chris, or Andy... Deep down, he was grateful, hoping the people in his life were safe back at home. But he knew how dangerous life was for Kimberly before she'd gotten there. He'd known Chris was about to die. What if they weren't there because... Well.

Ianto had left and Connor had stayed, desperately searching. Reading word after word, replying where he could, trying to track down the people who'd meant the world to him. He had been scribbling away so intently that he hadn't noticed the door open or the familiar looking man walk in. He'd seen that one, too. But, like Ianto, he hadn't let himself get close enough to know his name, or where he was from. From speaking, he was clearly American, that was easy enough.

"Ah, no," he confirmed, though he sort of felt like he might as well be at that point. The only competition he'd ever had for the space had been Kimberly, who he'd gladly have shared it with, and Spencer, who just annoyed him and hadn't stuck around long enough to lay any kind of claim. "Just a citizen here like everyone else, I'm afraid. But... I know you," he blurted, then remembered how Ianto hadn't remembered a thing. "I mean, I think I do. You look familiar."

Sam gave a small smile at the word citizen despite his bad mood. It seemed to put a new civilized slant to everything. He tilted his head slightly, studying the other man closer when he said he knew him.

There was something familiar about the other guy too. He didn't have a name, but he thought maybe he'd seen him somewhere. The incomplete recognition suddenly made him feel a little wary. "Sam Winchester," he said. After a second of hesitation he moved forward and offered his hand.

Now the name was definitely familiar. Having those journals really had paid off. He just wished he could go back and read what he'd written before, but it seemed like it was a whole new book sitting in front of him now. It sure would make remembering these people a lot easier, and make it possible to put pieces of everyone else's memories back together.

"Sam... You were one of the leader types before, weren't you? Keeping track of people, that kind of thing? Well, I guess I should ask if you remember being here before first, huh?" Shaking his head, he got to his feet, trying to smile despite the situation. "Connor Temple. Sorry. Manners kinda get left out the door with me and situations like this, I guess." Prep school had taught Connor how to be polite and respectable. They just hadn't convinced him to do it.

"Yeah, I don't, actually," Sam said, forcing a smile of his own. "But you're not the first person to tell me that I was here before." He shook Connor's hand. "What else do you remember about this place?"

It certainly sounded like something that Sam might have done. As weird as being kidnapped and then dragged somewhere was it certainly wasn't the first time for Sam. It was the first time that he'd ever heard of time travel being a reality, but then he was probably more prepared to handle that than most people.

What else did he remember? Vampires, angels, witches, werewolves, making friends and losing them, people dying, zombies... But he couldn't know how knowledgable Sam actually was about all of that, so how could he come right out and say it? To anyone who didn't live a life full of insane (and Connor's life certainly was insane, whether it included vampires in hot leather or not), it would sound completely mental.

Biting his lower lip, he considered how to answer. "I remember quite a bit, considering some of you are here without a bit of knowledge. New people arrived almost every day. People were...different. Almost everyone had something sort of...special about them. Do you have any idea what I mean? It's just...it sounds bad, I guess, but no one was normal. Anyway, and the people running this place, they have powers like I've never seen. Bringing the dead back to life?" No need to scare Sam outright and tell him that some of those dead had been caused by said management themselves. The memory of Luna, scorched and glassy-eyed coming after them still burned.

Sam's eyes unconsciously narrowed at Connor's remark that there had been something special about them. Was this another Cold Oak? One that the yellow eyed demon had somehow erased from his memory.

He exhaled through his nose and tried to seem more relaxed than he felt. "What do you mean?" Sam asked, his tone a little lower. "Did the people who were brought here have special powers or abilities as well?" So maybe it sounded a little crazy to someone who didn't know what he was talking about, but then again they'd been kidnapped by an unseen source. If there was any day that this conversation might not be that out of the ordinary, it might be today.

He paused when Connor said the people in charge had brought people back to life. He pressed his lips together in a small doubtful smile. "Like Lazarus?" He asked.

Connor paused and considered how to answer. He'd never considered himself anything special, but he supposed his line of work might put him on another level in someone else's eyes. "I was friends with a witch...two, actually, though they seemed entirely different," he reasoned out loud, partially to Sam but mostly to himself. "One is back. Honest witches, with real powers. Not the Wiccan sort, but real witches. And one was part angel... I didn't get it, I guess I still don't, but there you have it." Not to mention the almost-girlfriend with Death chasing after her. Shaking his head, he shrugged. "There were people from other planets, people with powers... I know it sounds mad, I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't lived it, but I did. And so did you." He was struggling so hard to remember details.

He knew Sam didn't entirely believe him. He didn't blame him, really. It sounded ridiculous even to him. And Sam's doubt came out a bit in the smile that came across as almost pitying. But he didn't really throw Connor off. It was similar to the looks Cutter and Stephen used to give him when he'd theorize on something or propose a new invention.

"No, not like Lazarus," he said simply. He didn't know his Bible all that well, but he was pretty sure Lazarus was brought back to life so he could go on living as he had before. There was no way Luna, or any of the corpses he'd seen, could possibly continue on living. "A bit more like Night of the Living Dead. Or Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island."

Witches and angels weren't usually the type of thing that went together in Sam's experience, but then again Castiel hadn't exactly been what he'd expecting of an angel either. His experiences with witches had been far from good and so he made a mental note to look out for anyone who might meet that description. Maybe they were behind them being here. He raised an eyebrow. "Wait, other planets?" Sam asked, this time unable to hide his disbelief. "As in aliens?"

"So, they were zombies," Sam said, triggering something at the back of his mind. He furrowed his brow, trying to hold onto the thought that had unexpectedly surfaced, but was gone before he could get a good hold on it. "Do you remember how we got out the first time?" Sam asked, knowing it was a longshot.
