Day One - Evening
WHO: Jack Harkness & Ianto Jones
WHAT: Hashing over some things.
WHERE: 202 Cherry Lane
WHEN: 6:11pm
RATING: Jack [yes, he gets his own rating now.]
STATUS: Active

He wasn't going to let this bother him. He really wasn't -- at least that's what Jack told himself as he trudged back to the house he had been dropped in that morning. Things happened for a reason and Jack had been in far worse scrapes than this over the course of his very long life. The time of the Valliant immediately came to mind and Jack quickly pushed that away. One bad thing to deal with at a time.

Jack had wandered about the edge of town a bit more (had discovered that 'welcome' sign at the outer limits and would have thrown something at it had he had something to throw...) before he retraced his steps to head back to the small house. Hopefully Ianto had seen the message and would be able to find his way there.

God, why them? Hadn't they all been through enough in the past few months?

Yes, Jack was still blaming himself for Toshiko's and Owen's deaths and (in all honesty) he would continue to blame himself for them for a very long time. Rolling his shoulders as the house came back into view, Jack cut through the yards until he reached 202 Cherry Lane. He set himself down on the porch and put his head in his hands. He needed time to think.

He needed to figure out a way to get them all out of here.

Again.

Well, this had been a delightfully weird day.

Ianto found himself trudging through much of town, today, trying to put together all of the pieces of a very odd puzzle. One that included his memory. That bothered him most of all, though he didn't let on to anyone he met. How could he explain it? Sorry, I have a perfect memory, forgetting things means something is really wrong. Or, you know, retcon.

202 Cherry Lane was easy enough to find, especially with a Captain on the front step, head in his hands. Ianto came up the walk and levered himself down along side Jack, all without saying a word. Jack's posture pretty much summed up how he felt, today.

With his head in his hands, Jack never saw Ianto approach. Rather, he more smelled him and sensed his presence as opposed to actually seeing a physical form. He slides over a few inches so that he was sitting, flush against Ianto. Jack never lifted his head, and never moved outside of the tiny shift in his body. Ianto was the one person he let see the inner Captain; what he was actually feeling at any given point in time.

Jack was not happy to be here and he wasn't happy learning who else had been brought here. A child for god's sake! What did the Management have to prove by bringing Luke? And, well, Jack would have been happier if Ianto was still tucked in their bed back in Cardiff.

Exhaling sharply, Jack lifted his head, plastering a smile to his face that didn't quite reach his eyes. "Well! Isn't this just a brilliant turn of events?"

Ianto sat, hands clasped between his knees, and watched what little traffic there was about town. He could see a few people making their way towards various buildings, alone and together. He had the feeling that they all needed to stick together, but that was just instinct screaming at him. In a time of danger, you stand back to back with your fellow defenders.

Even in places like this, Ianto didn't stop working.

When Jack looked up and turned towards him, Ianto offered him a small smile in return and clasped one of Jack's knees. Touch worked well with the Captain. "What's the last thing you remember before this?"

Touch worked very well with Jack. There was a reason he had slid to sit half pressed against Ianto. He needed that bit of tactile-ness and he knew he could seek that comfort in Ianto. He sighed softly, placing his hand over Ianto's, rubbing his thumb along the other man's knuckles. Jack closed his eyes and thought back to the last thing he remembered before he actually fell asleep.

"Other than falling asleep?" Jack asked with a snort. He opened his eyes once more, turning his head toward Ianto. "Going to bed with you." This time, the smile did reach his eyes. "Had been dealing with that Weevil nest we found in June. Was trying to set Janet up on a date without much success. She tore my arm up something rotten in response." Another sigh, looking at Ianto. "What about you? Remember that -- and if you do, how far back was it?"
