Entry tags:castiel, day 1: reboot, dean winchester, mickey's diner, phoebe halliwell, remy lebeau, the doctor (nine)

Day One - 9:45am
Who: Remy LeBeau, Dean Winchester, Phoebe Halliwell, The [Ninth] Doctor, Castiel and OPEN!
What: Meeting at the diner.
When Day 1 - 9:45am
Where: Mickey's Diner
Rating: PG-13
Status: Active

It'd taken the pair almost half an hour to mosey their way from the gas station way the other end of the town to the diner that seemed to be somewhat central. Not because Remy hadn't been walking quickly. Oh no, he'd been doing his best to move along at a solid pace with those long strides and his pausing here and there to write in his journal-- but Dean had kept interrupting him, stepping in front of him, talking to him..  and the people who had been talking to him in the journal had slowed him down as well. What was this? Some plot to make them as late as possible to the diner, after he'd told everyone else to meet them there promptly? Conspiracy.

Still, the fifteen minute walk had taken them twice as long and that was alright with him, at least they were arriving there, right? A few more notes in his journal as they came closer to that diner, then he was drawing up to a stop, looking it over, tucking his journal back into the box that was settled under his arm (filled to the brim with cigarettes and gum, thank you very much) and turning to face Dean once again.

Rogue hadn't answered him.. did that mean she wasn't here any longer? The Doctor hadn't answered, either. And he hoped to God he didn't get Logan's decapitated body back today, just because the assholes upstairs thought it was fun to traumatize the Cajun. He was expecting just a few to turn out, no one ever really came to these general meetings, in his experience. But it didn't matter.. as long as he got to see some familiar faces, he'd be pleased.

"Late t' our own party an' we still 'de firs' ones here." Chimed over to the Winchester boy with a smile.

Dean did a quick scan of the diner, nothing made it seem any different than the billions of other diners he'd been to...except the lack of people. Still, diner meant condiments and condiments meant- he grinned seeing the salt shaker on one of the tables and immediately went for it. He hadn't seen any signs of demonic activity but there was no way he was getting caught unprotected. Hell, if necessary he could probably make a devil's trap in ketchup. Nobody could every say the Winchester boy wasn't resourceful.

Deep down Dean knew he should be freaking out more about this, waking up in a strange place with an incredibly strange dude who claimed they were basically lab rats? Yeah, he should be shitting bricks right now but to be totally honest he just didn't have the energy. Maybe later he could have a fun little freak out, yeah that sounded nice. Right after he found Sam.

Dean began salting the doors and windows, making himself feel useful. "You think there's any food here in this dive? We should probably stock up while we can."

No air conditioning. Why did he expect the diner to have air conditioning? That was just plain stupid. Still, he couldn't help that he looked a little disappointed upon entering the diner. He might have said something more, but then Dean was grabbing a salt shaker and.. was he salting the doors? Really?

"Y' tryin'a protec' us from wi'ches an' sparkly vampires? Ain' none 'dem here, homme." Assured with a little smirk.. though, he almost hoped that there was a darker breed of vampire here. Over the years, he'd realized just how much he missed Selene.

"Don' t'ink 'deres any food, homme. Wasn' any in 'de gas sta'ion, prolly ain' any here, bu' we can check 'de ki'chen." Even as he said it, he was moving gracefully towards that counter and setting his box down, eying the cigarettes a moment before hopping over the counter top in a single fluid motion. This man had really missed his calling as an acrobat, or a dancer. Landing deftly on the other side, he was nudging open that swinging door with the little porthole and was beginning to head into the back part of the kitchen.

"Nothing to see back here." Came a sudden voice from that back kitchen, one hand shooting out to catch that intruding red-head in the chest and push him back away from entering into the back as he'd so clearly been planning to do. He'd force him to take a few steps back before dropping his hand and breaking into a smile. "Hello, I'm the Doctor, you're in my space. There's nothing back there for you, no food, no working appliances and absolutely nothing that's any use to anyone. Now." He turned sharp blue eyes from that man with the Cajun's accent to the other man with the darker hair.

"Who are you two?" Leather-clad arms were coming up to cross over his chest. He'd left that young woman in the back kitchen and was now the only thing standing between her and these two men who could very well be robbers or some sort, or even the people who'd taken him from his TARDIS, taken him from the Time War, and put him right here.

And he needed to get back. Now. He needed to Time Lock the planet and he needed to do it fast.

He raised an eyebrow at the apperance of the random hiding English dude. Something about him kinda freaked Dean out. " I'm Dean Winchester, got any idea what's going on here Doc?"

"Dude you really gotta work on that accent, I'm only getting about half of what you're saying." Last time he had heard people talk like this was when he was doing a voodoo job down in New Orleans, he hadn't understood anybody then either. Sam was always his littler translater, he had the patients to listen carefully.

"Don't care if there aren't any "wi'ches", something picked a bunch of people up from different places and brought them here seemingly overnight. I know there are a bunch of people because I'm talking to them through a notebook, that rates pretty high on the weird shit-o-meter so better safe then sorry."

He hoped the counter and tried to break into the cash register. Stealing was wrong, Dean would mostly agree with that statement in many situations but this wasn't one of them.

"Work on 'de accen'? Mebbe y' gotta work on un'erstan'in' 'de accen'. Ain' har', jus--" But then that man was coming from the kitchen and planting a hand against his chest, backing him up and away until the small of his back connected with the counter right beside Dean.

Then a grin broke out on his face. "Doct'r! L'Autre Docteur--" The other Doctor, of course. There were two. Try not to think too hard about it, Doctor, it might just make your poor war-hardened brain explode. "Y' 'member me, non? C'mon.." Oh, here was hoping. He even flashed a little grin over at Dean in the hopes that he might remember too, if the Doctor could remember. Soon, black and red found the Time Lord once more.

"Other Doctor?" The Doctor prompted with a cautious look. That was French, untranslated French. That meant that the TARDIS wasn't anywhere nearby. Great. Just where was he, the diner from Hell? Of course it was, it was Mickey's diner. He hated the name Mickey, he liked Rickey much more. Rickey the Mouse! It sounded so much better, right? Apparently, his friend Walt hadn't thought so.

However, that other man was speaking a second later and the Doctor dropped his hand down at his side and focused those sharp blue eyes onto him instead. "Yes, I know exactly what's going on here. We're in a diner. And you're trying to rob it." He pointed to the register which had been mashed on and was just popping open. Then he gave the brunette a pointed look. Though, the stuff about remembering him? Well, that deserved some attention as well and he was looking once again to the red-headed Cajun. Cajun, really? He never saw Cajuns anymore.

"No, I don't remember you. Now if the two of you will scoot along, I'm busy trying to save us all from where ever it is we are. I'm assuming the two of you don't belong here anymore than I do, right? And I'm assuming you're eager to get home to your wives and your mothers and your little ape babies, isn't that so? That'll happen a lot faster if I stop getting these interruptions."

Dean glared at the new guy, did everybody in this place have an accident? And was everybody an ass? He thought Gambit was bad, at least he was friendly. "No home, no wife, mom's dead, and I'm fresh out of ape babies so why don't you calm the hell down? Bet we could get out of here a lot quicker if we didn't leave our safety up to one doctor."

He glanced at the now opened cash register and pocketed the whopping four dollars and sixty sense. Watch out Bill Gates! "And I'm not robbing, in times of crisis we like to call it looting."

"Big home, lossa wives, two moms an' plen'y uh monkeys, 'dat mean I get uh outta jail free card?" Asked with a brilliant smile from the red-head who seemed to be enjoying this. He clearly knew the Doctor and certainly wasn't scared of him. He was, though, a little dismayed that he wasn't remembered.. that meant that if the other Doctor was here that he might not remember him either. That made him the smallest bit concerned, but there was no reason to get too worried yet.. the Doctor would remember him. His Doctor would remember him.

And when that big-eared man started talking about them robbing the place? Well. "Dean's righ', y' know. Calle' lootin' in times uh 'mergency." He nodded, crossing his arms across his chest and focusing completely upon the Doctor again. "How y' gonna get outta 'dis, 'den? Didn' work so well las' time."

As if she weren't confused enough. Just when she thought she was getting the hang of this empathy thing, suddenly there were so many voices and so many emotions and finally, Phoebe had to step out of the kitchen. "Good God, could you people pipe down." Dean would be happy to hear a completely American accent, but it was an awfully angry one.

She looked back and forth between the two newcomers, surprised and kind of annoyed and really, just trying to get the feelings radiating off of the two of them to a mere murmur in her head. "Who're you two? Are there a ton of people here or what?"

"American!" he spread his arms in triumph, resisting the urge to hug the new though not at all unattractive girl. "You are now my new favorite person!" Ok, maybe that was a bit of an overstatement but he so didn't care, he could understand this chick without having to try.

"Umm...you guys are the only people we've met so far but through the weird journal thing," he shook the journal as if that explained his statement, "I get the feeling there's more." Decided to actually be civil since...well, this chick was hot he put on the Dean Winchester smile and held out his hand. "I'm Dean, the little pink number over there is Gambit," he nodded to the redheard.

"I'm 'merican." Remy said those words with what sounded like shock, as if he were offended that Dean had been insinuating that he wasn't American. Sure, he was Cajun.. but that was American. French Cajun-- still American! Well, mostly. French had been his first language and he spoke it much better than English, but that was because of his accent!

"Stripper?" He asked Dean suddenly, as if he'd just read that line he'd written nearly twenty minutes ago. He hadn't, of course, he'd read it long ago.. but it was just sinking in. "Y' t'ink I'm uh stripper?"

A pause.. then he smiled in a sly sort of way.

"Coul' be, couln' I?" Oh, don't blow up his ego any more, Dean. Intentionally or not. Because it was much too big as it was.. and with the Doctor around? Well, egos were bound to be clashing and causing a ruckus.

"M' Gambit," reintroduced "An' 'das 'De Doct'r. L'Autre Docteur." The other one, not the real one. Well, yes the real one, but not the first one. Okay, technically the ninth one and he came before the tenth one but still not the first one Remy had met, so he got to be the Other Doctor. "An' oui, gonna be lossa ot'ers. I been here 'fore. Ain' gonna be pretty."

Sarah Jane had jogged ahead of Castiel after he'd pointed out the diner. She was anxious to see people she knew, or at least remembered as being friendly. She pulled open the door and stepped inside, holding it open behind her for Castiel to catch and looked around the room.

Her eyes widened as she realized exactly how many people she knew thus far. "Dean? Remy?" Her eyes widened even further at the other man, one she knew very well, even if she'd only met him in this particular body while at Vas before. "Doctor!" Without checking Castiel had actually caught the door, she rushed into the diner, bee-lining for the Time Lord, grinning from ear to ear. The woman near him she barely gave a passing glance - just enough to recognize the woman as unknown, and file it away to deal with later. For now, she was just too relieved to see the one man she knew could solve this problem.

Not far behind Sarah Jane Smith, Castiel entered the diner, looking somewhat bewildered. The cuts on his face were starting to dry up, but he still looked like hell thanks to Gabriel. He clutched his journal in his left hand as he stepped inside.

Immediately, he saw Dean among the others present. "Dean!" At any moment, he expected Gabriel to appear and lay into him once more. He looked around nervously. "We have to get out of here."

Remy, who'd had his attention suddenly diverted from the other conversation, was looking over to Sarah Jane with a wide grin when she arrived. Oh, look at her! She didn't look any older. Was it just him, then? Was he the only one who'd had time pass? "'Dere she is." He gave her a nod, then laughed some as she went rushing past towards the Doctor. He knew, of course, that those two had a history. He just didn't know what sort of history.

"An' 'de res' uh 'de crew.. dunno him." Gambit was now focusing those dark eyes onto the angel in the room. "Non, ain' 'de an'i-chris'." He announced simply, meaning to stop that sort of talk right where it'd started, nip it in the bud. "Jus' some sick people. Seen 'dem 'fore." Don't mind the man with the red and black eyes, angel. Dean wasn't throwing holy water at him, so he had to be safe, right?

Oh, so very wrong.

Other Doctor? He was the other Doctor? Hardly. Wait. Other Doctor?

There was another Doctor?

He might have asked about that, but then the door was opening and.. oh, his hearts skipped a beat. Sarah Jane.

That goofy looking face shifted in all sorts of ways, the serious expression he took on faded away as his eyes got wider and those crows feet at the corners of his eyes wrinkled up, mouth spreading wide as his lips curled skyward and exposed his teeth in a wide sort of grin. "Oh, Sarah Jane!" Exclaimed as he came forward a few steps to meet her, opening his arms out to show he'd be welcoming a hug. Surely, she'd move in for one and he'd be wrapping leather-clad arms around her and holding on tight. "Aren't you a sight for sore eyes! You look fantastic!" Wait for it.. "I'm so glad to see you!" Grinning from ear to ear, he'd finally release her.. then it dawned on him and the smile faded some.

"You know me? You can tell it's me?" He hadn't even looked in a mirror yet, Sarah Jane, not since his regeneration a while back. Months. Years. Decades. He didn't even know. No longer the curly-haired man in the frilly suit, but rather one who would someday soon Time Lock his own planet, his own people. But not yet.

Sarah Jane rushed into those open arms, wrapping her own around his middle tightly. "I'm so glad you're here," she said, squeezing him tightly.

Her grin faltered just a bit when his did, and his next question told her why he suddenly became apprehensive. He hadn't met her yet. Not like this. She remembered him from before, from the last time they were here, but he didn't. Was it because his memory was wiped more thoroughly than hers had been, or because he'd been pulled from an earlier point in time than before? Her mind raced for an answer to the questions he'd given.

Then, she grinned. "How could I not recognize my best friend?" she said. She couldn't talk to him about it here, not in front of so many people. She'd have to wait until they had a quiet moment together, and then she could try and explain to him what he shouldn't really know.

She turned a bit, Remy's comment finally registering, and grinned at him as well. He seemed a bit older. More evidence that people were coming from different points in time than before. "How are you, Remy?" she asked, not quite willing to step away from the Doctor just yet. But there would be a warm greeting for the Cajun in a few moments.

Remy was flashing her a brilliant smile and offered a wink before pushing away from the counter. Sarah Jane was here, the other Doctor was here, Dean was here, Sam had arrived, and come.. really gorgeous man in a trenchcoat. Remy paused and watched him for a moment, but he wouldn't say anything. That one had a curious feeling about him.

But then Sarah Jane was talking to him and he looked back at her and smiled once again. "All t'in's considerin', m' doin' fine. Y' lookin' real good." She'd get a slow, charming smile from him before he pushed to head for the doors, snagging up his box full of cigarettes and gum. "Gonna g'wan an' have uh look 'round, try an' fin' some place 'dat we can sleep safe t'nigh'." That said? The Cajun was headed out the door. He'd ditched Dean on his brother, he'd done what he'd come here to accomplish.

"Well, maybe if I had another body and another face, another accent and a whole new me? That might do it." But he was still smiling away, only releasing her from the hug slowly when she turned to ask that red-eyed man a question. Red eyes? Well, he simply wasn't human. What was he? Was he the thing that had brought them here? It didn't seem so, with as well as he and Sarah Jane seemed to get along.. alright, so he just looked funny and the Doctor couldn't place what planet he might have been from. He'd mull that over later.

Blue eyes soon turned onto her again once they were alone.

"You're glad I'm here, but do you happen to know where 'here' is?" Since he certainly didn't, and she seemed at least a little familiar with a few of the locals-- or perhaps that man was trapped the same way they all were.

Sarah Jane barely had time to wave good-bye to Remy before he was out the door. She shook her head, still smiling, before turning back to the Doctor. She gave him a look that clearly said she wasn't impressed with that particular bit of logic. He was right, of course, but for the moment, she couldn't tell him. "I've seen you do that," she said. "Remember? Spiders, Metebelis 3, weeks with no word, and the TARDIS finally coming back to UNIT HQ? Why should a new you be any different?" This version reminded her more of the last one she'd traveled with than his newer self, the one she knew marginally better. Still a bit prickly.

When he asked where here was, Sarah Jane's smile faltered, and she glanced sideways, noting the Winchester boys were heading outside as well. "Not exactly," she said, looking back to him. "I've been here before, but I don't remember it, not really. The place is called Vas Captio." She paused a moment, knowing the translation would work out in his head faster than it had hers last time. She should have paid more attention to her Latin in school. "And we've all been taken out of time and dumped here. The feeling I associate with the name is...unpleasant." She shuddered involuntarily. "But I've no idea why."

She glanced toward the door again. "Remy, the man with the long hair, and the Winchesters, they were here before as well. I remember names and faces, and I can recognize some of the handwriting in the journals we were given, but I don't know much beyond that. It's like something put a seal on those memories, but didn't get it quite right." She looked up at him again, and the smile returned. "But if you're here, we'll soon have it sorted, won't we?" Confidence filled her voice, even if she didn't feel it fully just yet. She didn't need to make him worry too much.

"Because I look nothing like the old me." Well, that seemed simple enough, didn't it? "I could have been the Cajun," He gestured to the door, "Or the man in the trenchcoat. But you picked me out, just as I am." He spread his arms some, indicating himself.. but then a wide smile broke out over his face. "And that's my Sarah Jane, so clever-- able to figure it out in just a moment's time." Oh, he was so proud of her, did it show on his face? It must have. He was positively glowing.

"So you remember these people? This place?" Apparently not completely. He listened as she spoke and when she asked him, well, he couldn't say no, now could he? "We'll have it sorted." He assured with a brilliant smile.

For a moment, Sarah Jane thought he'd press the issue of how she'd known it was him, and she was worried she'd end up mucking up the time stream as a result of her carelessness. But then, he'd gone and complimented her, and she mentally breathed a sigh of relief. She couldn't help but beam back at him, as much out of relief as that he seemed so proud of her.

And there was the answer she needed to hear. We'll have it sorted. When he said it, flashing that confident smile of his, that hadn't changed, despite the new jawline and teeth, she could believe it. "Did you find yourself here just today as well?" she asked, hoping he'd had a bit more exposure to the place, had more of the measure of it. "I found myself on the floor in a stripped-down house, along with that man, Castiel, the one who came in after me. He was looking for his friends, too." She shook her head slightly. "Seems like whatever or whoever's brought us here is bringing in groups of people, or at least some groups - people who know each other. But for what purpose?" The question was mostly rhetorical, but she was curious as to the Doctor's theories on it.

"I'm not sure." He told her in a slower voice, but then was looking around the diner at the gathered people. Back at Sarah Jane again. "What I do know is that right now we've got to find a place to stay that's safe. If you were found in a house that might be our best bet. Perhaps the very one you woke in would be most suitable. I'm sure that where ever we go these people, these creatures running this place could find us. We need to stick together and we need to collect up anyone we know as well. Safety in numbers and all that." He was lifting his hands to place them on her shoulders, squaring her up and smiling once again, wide and bright.

"I'm going to finish looking around in here. Maybe I'll be able to find something more useful than bits of wire and string. You head outside and don't go far, but try to get a lay-out of the surrounding area. I'll be out in just a few minutes." Blue slid back and forth between her darker eyes, that grin still in place. Oh, this was exciting for him. Just look at him, Sarah Jane, so alive. So eager.

"Alright?"

Sarah Jane nodded, agreeing with everything the Doctor said. Although, nowhere seemed to be safe at the moment, but if they were all together, they'd have a better chance of keeping an eye out for things that didn't belong. Things that seemed...more off than this place already did. And it wouldn't be hard to find her way back to the house. If the Doctor felt that would be best, then, come sunset, that's what they'd do.

She listened to his instructions carefully, nodding again, offering up a grin of her own. "All right," she said. "Just don't be too long." It was so easy to get wrapped up in the feeling of being with the Doctor again, easy to let his excitement seep into her veins. And it helped take the edge off her nerves. She was doing something, and that always helped; she, like the Doctor, had never been one to sit idly by and let things happen. Just one more check of the journals, in case there was new information that would be helpful, and she'd pop outside to have that look round.

The writing in the journal, one Sam guessed was the Cajun Dean kept referring to, had been right about the diner sign being easy to find. Once he'd managed to get his bearings and had been relieved to find Dean's handwriting in the journals, though slightly disturbed that the woman calling herself Lexie also knew him and his day job, he had started making for it immediately.

The weather was warm as he traveled through the deserted town, a nagging sense of deja vu tugging at the back of his mind. The place felt familiar and foreign all at once. Where he thought maybe he expected to see one building, there was something else in it's place. It didn't make any sense to him. It was as if he'd seen it in one of his premonitions, cloudy and dream like.

He could see people through the glass windows of the diner before he made his way up the stairs and to the door. He stepped inside, looking for Dean and giving a small sigh of relief when he saw him. He moved towards his brother, quickly taking in the other people in the room as he passed, only hesitating a moment when he saw the Cajun's eyes.

"Hey," he said, the one syllable clearly asking what was the story with that guy as he approached Dean and slapped him on the shoulder. The only demon he trusted was Ruby, and even then he didn't know how far. On closer inspection he frowned heavily at his older brother. "You look like crap," Sam said bluntly, trying hard to keep concern out of his voice. Dean looked older and more worn over night. Something had definitely changed since the last time Sam had seen him. "You okay?"

"Sam!" His face lit up as he let out the breathe he hadn't realized he was holding. Sam was safe, check...he can move onto other things now. "I'm fine man, except for the part where I woke up in the freaking Twilight Zone."

His smile faded as he really looked at Sam, he looked different. Less wrinkles, shorter hair, and his eyes looked almost happy. Well, not happy exactly...just not as fucked up as they usually did. A billion thoughts ran through his head but all that managed to come out was "dude, did you cut your hair?"

"Yeah," Sam said, wrinkling his brow and giving a small smile. "I think I actually saw this set in an episode of the Twilight Zone." Still, Dean's response hadn't answered the question that Sam had really wanted to ask. Why did he look so different? There was definitely something Dean wasn't telling him and while it wasn't as if Sam expected him to spit it out in front of all these people, he couldn't help but think that the weight of it must have caused the change in his brother.

"Did I...what?" Sam asked, his eyebrows moving together as he stared back at his brother. His hand tensed and untensed from nervous energy at his side. They were running out of time. They had less than a week to find a way out of Dean's deal, they didn't have time for Dean to be messing around. "Yeah, Dean," Sam said, sarcasm heavy in his tone. "I popped into the barber shop on the way over. It was fifty cents." He shifted on his feet. "What's going on with you? What happened?"

"Nothing happened...last thing I remember we were taking off after the antichrist fiasco. I passed out in the car and woke up here." Suddenly a horrible thought hit Dean, as if the situation couldn't get any worse. "If you're here too maybe you fell asleep....then we would have crashed." What if his baby was hurt? Wrapped around a tree or something.

Dean still wasn't over thinking that heaven or hell had something to do with them waking up here. Give the boys a little time out to stew until they agreed to say yes to Michael and Lucifer. Well as far as Dean concerned they could leave him here till the end of time, he wasn't cracking.

Sam's eyes narrowed at the word antichrist. It wasn't the kind of word that was said in his family lightly and it wasn't the kind of word that was taken to that kindly by strangers. He glanced quickly at the people around them, forcing a tight apologetic smile before he grabbed Dean's jacket and started pulling him towards a booth in the back. "Excuse us," he called out to the group at large. "I just need a word with my brother."

Whatever needed to be said, it was clear that it needed to be said privately.
