Day Four - Evening
Who: Andy Gallagher, Lexie Grey, and Luna Lovegood
Where: The Church
What: Andy's coming back down off the Ketamine
When: Early evening
Rating: TBA
Warning: Severe drug content
Status: Complete

It was sort of like...being in a dream world, only it was all fucked up. Webber was there and then he was gone. Tracy was still sitting in the back of the ambulance with the blanket wrapped around her, avoiding Andy's eyes, only this time they were loading Webber's fucking corpse in with her, completely neglecting the meat wagon parked a few feet away. She'd spared him a disdainful glance and turned to run a hand over the body bag.

Andy's breath kept catching in his throat, it felt like, and the room was spinning and spinning and fucking spinning...

He'd heard Lexie trying to tell him that it was normal; that it was just a bad trip and she'd cut herself off. His shut up command - which he'd meant to direct at Webber - it seemed, had hit her instead. And now he really had done it to her. Jesus, he was going to hell. He was going straight to Hell, do not pass Go, do not collect two hundred--

"Are you fu-cking kidding me," he murmured as the church went black and lit up again in red. Luna in the goddamn dominatrix outfit and a pair of fuzzy handcuffs beckoning at him with one finger as a cheshire cat grin spread over her lips. Never mind the fact that Webber was standing behind her, grabbing at her tits from behind and definitely never mind the fact that there were two more of her on either side of Webber; one in the soaked, clinging, practically see-through sundress he'd met her in and one in the outfit she'd been wearing that morning. Both hanging off Webber like super whores or something.

Webber, himself, looked appropriately smug and Andy wanted to scream. Hell, he actually might have, for all he knew.

But the room kept spinning and spinning again and again and then Webber was gone and the freaking Luna parade were all pawing at him when the red light turned a blue-green and strobed annoyingly at him like he really was at a freaking rave. Lexie was still on the floor with the rest of him - whatever that meant, but it seemed to make sense at the time - holding his hand and staring at nothing he could pinpoint in particular. It was like she didn't even see him standing there over...himself... In any case, she'd stopped. It looked like she was holding some kind of a vigil and in his addled brain, he decided that the drug had killed him. This was Hell. ...it wasn't so bad except everytime he tried to touch the Lunas, they disappeared and reappeared like the way a ghost flickered in the movies. They were kissing and licking at his neck but he couldn't feel a fucking thing. Oh yeah. This was Hell.

"Fucking freaking out!" he screamed at Lexie and the Lunas and tried to shake them off, because really, they were effing useless if he couldn't touch them or feel them touching him, so they might as well back off so he could at least look at 'em. "If you killed me, Lexie, I swear to God I'll haunt you, I really really will..." he went on incoherently because, whoa, hey...he felt that when one of the Lunas made a strategically placed movement against him.

Lexie didn't know what to do. She was fairly certain that Andy was conscious in there - at least on some level he had to know what was going on in the world beyond his skin and beyond whatever movie was playing in his brain. Lexie couldn't help but think that this whole thing would have been a lot better had he managed to score a good trip - the sort of floaty blissful happy trip that people were supposed to have when they experimented with prescription drugs.

He was mumbling, muttering his eyes panic stricken even if his voice was still quite dreamy.

"I didn't kill you," she said shaking her head. Her fingertips were against his wrist again taking his pulse - it was racing but steady - not thready and from the best she could assume that was a good sign. Of course his pulse should be quick, he was having a rough trip and there was nothing she could do about it. "When you come down off of this you're going to laugh at yourself..."

Well, she'd heard him, so that was good. At least he'd said it out loud and she seemed confident he wasn't dead, so that was a plus. A big plus. "Yeah, I really don't think so..." he replied weakly as his eyes rolled back in his head.

That... oh, fuck me, if she's that good in real life, I have got to clear the air with Luna, like, yesterday, he thought blissfully, letting out a low groan against the lazy smile that was tugging at his lips. He hoped, uh, that it was only his lips and not the lump of half-conscious Andy-on-the-floor's lips, because like hell he wanted Lexie having any idea what was going on in his little world right then. "Fuck..." he gasped. "Oh, my God...how much longer before this is over?" he asked Lexie, looking down at her from where his headspace-self stood.

Whatever the Luna parade was up to, they could keep that shit up until he came off the trip, that was for damn sure, but the room was still flickering at a feverish pace and he felt sick to his stomach in spite of...well. He felt sick to his stomach.

Pulling her knees up to her chest Lexie watched as movement, perhaps involuntary, started to occur in his fingers and his toes - it was a good sign. She must have really taken her time with those sutures if the ketamine was already starting to fade.

Then Lexie noticed the look on his face - the bad part of the trip must had grown thin because Andy was starting to get a look on his face like... Oh.. yeah, she knew that look. Rubbing her forehead she found herself feeling just a hair embarrassed on his behalf.

"Ten, fifteen more minutes, I guess?" She responded to his question. Oh, look, a broken window...

Awkward...

The Luna show was still in full swing, but he couldn't feel them anymore. The tactile sensations were fading away and he could feel a twinge in his leg. A nasty stinging sensation and on top of it, an uncomfortable tightness. Lexie said ten or fifteen minutes. Good, because he felt his head starting to pound from the fucked up lights show and the Lunas were teasing, now, too busy with each other to pay him any more attention.

"What if I can't come back?" he asked aloud without meaning to. "Fuck I'm not even in there; what if I can't come back?" He gestured frantically at himself on the floor. All that resulted from it was the same blur as when he'd tried to touch Lexie before and that freaked him out even more.

His breath went ragged and shallow with fear. "What if I can't get back in there?!" He dropped down onto his knees and pushed against the Andy-on-the-floor, but nothing happened. Shouldn't his blur-hands be disappearing into the Andy-on-the-floor? Or...something? Anything other than a blur against a solid form he couldn't feel? "I can't feel anything...I can't feel anything," he said urgently.

"Andy, you are in there - you're making your own mouth move. I'm not sure where you think that you are but, you're still here..."

Thinking for a second she figured he'd probably most accutely be able to feel his fingertips outside of the wound on his leg. Taking up the sewing needle she started to prick at his fingertip.

"Do you know what I'm doing now, Andy?" She wasn't pricking nearly enough to draw any blood; but, certainly he'd notice a bit of a sting.

"Not in there," Andy replied quickly. "And these fucking lights...I'm getting a migraine," he admitted, blinking and then finally just closing his eyes all together, squeezing them shut against the spinning as the room took off again. His stomach was positively roiling, now and he swallowed thickly. No way. No way. He was not throwing up right now.

His blur-hands balled into fists in protest when he felt the pricks. "No, but fucking cut it out, that hurts," he grumped.

Wanting to smack her forehead, Lexie couldn't help but kick herself for not thinking to get some ibuprofen for Andy - his leg was going to be sore and it wouldn't be wise for him to get back on the vicodin just yet.

"Just keep your eyes closed, Andy and breathe." the more she looked at him, the more she realized he was going to probably vomit. Deftly turning his head to the side she prepared him for the worst.

"If you throw up, it's OK - you'll probably actually feel better," she coaxed. "Of course it hurts, I was pricking your fingertips. It's a good thing."

Groaning, Andy did at least as she said and kept his eyes closed and continued his labored breathing. He could feel her turn his head but he didn't really know why and the Andy-on-the-floor was the one who actually received the movement. He swallowed thickly again and held back against his gag reflex.

Lexie was telling him that it was okay if he threw up. That he'd probably feel better. She probably wasn't wrong and he wanted to really badly, but like hell he was going to toss his cookies now when he'd hung on as long as he had already. And in front of a cute girl? No fuckin' way.

He could feel himself twitching and his leg itched like a motherfucker, but he couldn't figure out where his leg was when he thought about it. So, even if he thought she wouldn't try to stop him from scratching it, he had no idea where his hand would need to go to get it. The legs beneath his headspace-self were as blurry as his hands and he couldn't feel the Andy-on-the-floor when he'd tried before, so he didn't really see any point in trying to get it now.

A low groan issued itself. "Oh, fuck...I think I'm gonna puke..." he moaned in spite of himself as he gagged against a dry heave. His eyes started to water reflexively and the bridge of his nose itched as his eyes leaked of their own accord. Jesus Christ, he might as well puke; it beat the hell out of looking like he was fucking crying...

She watched his muscles tense and prepared herself for another bout with vomit. There had been a time when vomit really grossed her out - somehow, no longer. Essentially it smelled bad and looked bad; but, it wasn't that truly vile thing any longer. Other bodily movements, however, did retain their status as icky.

However, no vomit came - which meant he hadn't had enough to eat for his body to force anything out. It was going to be an uncomfortable down-coming for him. Taking up the bandages she wiped his brow and cheeks - no sense leaving the tears and sweat there to dry.

"Something tells me I'll never be taking this stuff, ever. Can you believe people do this for fun?" Oh goodness, she was rambling...

He could feel Lexie wiping his face for him and if he didn't feel so God-awful, he'd probably smile at her. Or, if he didn't fear rain water, tea, and apples coming up instead of words, he'd thank her.

"It's not fucking fun; they're insane," he muttered after a few minutes of silence, waiting for his stomach to settle enough to speak. He coughed, then, and a gag was quick to follow. "Oh God, I wanna throw up," he finally admitted. He knew it'd feel better. But there was next to nothing in his stomach to come up and his body, apparently, was planning on punishing him, because he could tell - he could just tell - that he wouldn't be able to actually evacuate his stomach.

Understanding had not come as quickly as had hoped, and it had been many hours since Luna had left Andy and the church in a bolt. Sam had not been quite as helpful as she would have thought, seeing as he was also a Not-Muggle, male and of the same age. Disappointing really, that he had not really had any insight that had quite cleared everything up. Perhaps it was the fact that he was a quarter giant, or perhaps each Not-Muggle each had their own secret language.

That seemed most likely.

She had collected herself, with some help, actual food that was not made of dextrose or apple ingredients. Although she had collected Pixie Stix for distribution, as it seemed that everyone wanted and needed the magical candy, and she felt that they should get it.

Coming up the church steps, Luna cautiously opened the door and slipped inside, not really sure what she expected to happen. Only, she was definitely not expecting to find Andy lying on the floor of the church in his boxers with a strange girl next to him. Luna cocked her blonde head, "Andy?"

Lexie wasn't really looking to move any place, even as she watched Andy sort of writhe she was hoping that maybe he did have something in his stomach to evacuate. As time managed to drone on, it was becoming clear he didn't. It would be a long, slow period before he would be feeling too much better.

"Andy?" She heard, and Lexie's head whipped up like a flash.

This looked bad. Awkward. Bad.

"Uh, hi, I'm Doc..." Lexie paused, sure, Andy was sort of her patient, and she was technically a doctor; but, did that really make sense? "Lexie... I was just stitching up Andy's leg..." she gestured to Andy's now closed wound. "He's still kind of doped up, but coming out of it pretty quickly...

With a grunt of warning, Andy lost the battle with his stomach. Sweet, sweet relief came over Andy for a split second as he was finally able to bring up something. Bile, probably, for lack of anything else, but his stomach was calmed for it for the moment. He twitched and wiggled uncomfortably lolling his head almost ineffectively in an attempt to wipe his mouth on the shoulder of his shirt before he spit. "Ugh...sorry," he mumbled apologetically.

He heard Luna's voice and his eyelids fluttered a little as he looked around, bent now over the Andy-on-the-floor and poking at him as he tried to figure out how to get back in there. "Christ, now they're talking to me..." he muttered incoherently. Although, the Luna parade had gone, so he wasn't really sure that made any sense at all. "Who are you talking to?" he asked, looking around when he heard someone called Lexie explaining about stitching up some guy's leg.

Suddenly, Andy felt very claustrophobic and he realized that the room had stopped abruptly from its sickening spin and everything was black. There was an acrid stench stinging his nose; like sick or something. The thing that struck him as his eyes shot open and he gasped was that he couldn't move. He looked up and saw two women; one sitting beside him and the other standing over him. They were kinda hot...it wasn't like he minded, except... "Who the fuck are you?!" he breathed at them incredulously.

Well, now she certainly did not understand. Not understanding of the moment was nearly enough to completely eclipse the not understanding of that morning. Wrapping herself back into the dreamy covering that was protective, so that she could attempt to figure out her feelings over the scene she had walked in on at a later time, Luna blinked once.

"Another Doctor?" Moving forward at least enough to be nearer to Andy, wondering at this current condition of his, she opened her mouth to ask if she was also called 'The Doctor.' Only she was cut off by Andy's being sick on the ground, causing her to take an instinctive step backwards.

She had never before seen someone put stitches into human flesh, and Luna was fairly surprised and at the same time noting that Muggle medicine seemed barbaric. "You...sewed him?" Like a pillow?

Stumbling back another step when Andy gasped and suddenly looked at her, she was certainly not sure what to think at his exclamation, and so said nothing.

Nodding quickly to Luna's exclamation of another doctor, she turned her attention back to Andy as he'd finally managed to throw up. It was a good sign, even if a slightly disgusting one.

"Technically I sewed him like a baseball," she said, referencing the style of suture she used.

Andy was past the point of hallucinating. It meant the largest part of his trip was over. What was left now was to keep him from trying to stand up - even if it meant holding him in place - she was not about to let him manage to rip out his stitches because his Ketamine experience left him bewildered.

"I'm Lexie, Lexie Grey," she said trying to assure him. "Do you remember what happened to your leg?"

Oh, man, what were these crazy bitches talking about?! Sewing him like a baseball?! Andy started to panic and tried to move, but pain shot up his leg and his head started to throb in protest. Which, of course, only served to panic him even more. Two seconds ago he'd been standing and now he was lying and there was a couple of hot chicks talking about sewing him up.

Lexie Grey, the one kneeling beside him said, and Andy tried very hard not to hyperventilate when he still couldn't move to scramble away the way he'd have really fuckin' liked to right then. Especially since it had just dawned on him that he was only in his boxer shorts. Where the fuck were his pants?! "No; what the fuck?!" he shrieked. "Look okay, please don't go all Hard Candy on me," he pleaded pathetically, looking back and forth between the two of them, his brow knit with worry. "Please, please don't," he went on frantically, his voice cracking.

What in Merlin's Beard was a baseball?

He was not making any sense, he was panicking at the sight of her and Luna knew he did not seem to recognize her in the least. Throat tightening painfully as fear rose at what all those clues could add up to, she backed up again and again. Until her back hit the door of the church. Whether or not she would have fled into the darkening day/night, it did not matter as the faint sounds of something unknown outside made their way to her ears. Something unknown and terrifying.

Dark magic, it all added up to dark magic. Spells to confuse, spells to forget. Gray to dark magic, and with the intent that this seemed to have, it had to be dark.

Andy was obviously frightened, and she could not do anything but try to swallow past the block in her throat, over and over. The small bundle she had held was dropped to the ground as useless, it would only slow her down if she had to run.

She needed her wand. She was defenseless without her wand.

Luna wished for her calm, her centered self, but it was fraying like old fabric beneath her clutching fingers. Tattered strands were wrapped around herself, like her long blonde hair that messily hung everywhere at the moment, as if it was trying to shield her somehow. "Not going to hurt you," she had no idea what candy had to do with anything, but that he was afraid that they were going to harm him was clear enough. Instincts had to be relied on, and her instincts were telling her that Lexie was not a dark witch. Merlin, she hoped she was right. "Not going to hurt you."

The repetition was pointless, but came anyway.

"Andy," She said, moving behind him to help him sit up. It wouldn't do him any good to be lying in a pool of his own vomit and panicking. "Listen to me for a minute, ok?" She asked, this, propping him up so he could take a minute and look around.

"You asked me to come here and look at your leg, OK?" She pointed to the neat and near perfect sutures currently closing up his leg. "I'm Doctor Lexie Grey; now, I wish I could tell you we were in a hospital; but, we're not. You're going to have to trust me when I tell you nobody in this church is here to hurt you." Pointing slightly to the right of him,"And your pants are right there. Once we get your bandage on, you can put them on, OK? But, first you really have to calm down."

Giving the obviously frazzled blonde a look that spoke nothing short of Help me, Lexie continued to prop Andy up, Hoping that the other woman might volunteer to help with the bandaging and pants.

He didn't know who "Andy" was, but he could only assume they were talking to him. He felt the one calling herself Lexie sit him up and he was shaking as his eyes flitted back and forth between the two of them. Both women said they weren't going to hurt him, but shit, wasn't that what anyone would say, whether they were going to or not?

His eyes moved to follow the pointing finger and his stomach clenched again. The fuck...? Was that dental floss? "Oh Jesus..." he said under his breath, closing his eyes. Tell the truth, he found himself thinking at her and, hey, hold on...that sounded sort of different in his head than the rest of the frantic thoughts.

Andy was starting to come down, a little, perhaps, because he moved to sit up on his own. It was a failing gesture and he flopped back against Lexie with a grunt, but the fact that he'd been able to move at all was good. His eyes shifted back to the blonde and as his breathing shallowed and sped up, jagged and uneven, he thought maybe he recognized her. "There should be three..." he muttered as he looked back at her and then closed his eyes, shaking his head. That didn't even make sense to him.

It dawned on him just slightly who the blonde was, even if he couldn't remember her name. "Remember me, mate? I've been sent to hell," he rambled incoherently, the early signs of a lazy grin tugging at his lips. Quick flashes of Webber behind her hit him and he squeezed his eyes shut against it, the grin dropping away into a grimace.

Little snippets were coming back. A black woman, laughing hysterically and telling him that he wasn't a lagoon creature. A cougar's head stuck between two trees growling and roaring in anger and agony. ...what was a Winchester? Someone stroking his hair. A book that talked back when he wrote in it. And Pixie Stix. "Pixie Stix, what the hell...?" he murmured, moving his hands to cover his face as he furrowed his brow, trying to sort out the images for what they were. What was real and what was still part of the trip. Oh! Oh! "Hey Bob, man, I think I found the good stuff," he muttered incoherently.

Luna wanted to help, she did, but Andy's current condition was scaring her and she did not know what to do. Especially when he looked straight at her and she could not see anything that told her that he remembered her. It reminded her of when she had once gone with Neville to visit his parents at St. Mungo's. How they had not realized that he was their son, and their vacant expressions when they had looked at him had only hurt him more.

Confused and on the border of terrified, what with the prospect of Death Eaters or something similar being locked in this bubble village with her, the blonde witch did not move from her defensive position with her back against the door.

It was not the best position, she should know better. A door was not a good barricade, you needed something solid at your back, but would not pin you in a box. Her mind had fallen back onto remembering what both the real and fake Mad Eyed Moody had taught, as well as what she had learned in Dumbledore's Army. She needed her wand, tactics were not good without a wand in at least sight.

Andy said something she did not understand, and then smiled, Luna nearly found herself thinking that maybe it was alright. Only it faded and he was frowning again. Nothing afterwards made sense, she thought she heard him mention sticks of pixies, but it was too hard to make out at a low volume and behind his hands.

Someone with a wand and ill intent had to be near, it was the first explanation her mind had latched onto.

Seeing that the blonde was going to be of no use, Lexie had no choice but to try and coax her.

"Listen, I need you to help me with the bandage," she said to the blonde. "It's easy, I promise. You want to help Andy, right? Either you can prop him up or bandage his leg - but I can't do this on my own." Lexie was fairly certain that Andy was still quite out in left field or she wouldn't have worried about letting him go.

"He's on some Ketamine - it's a drug that was a good anesthetic apart from the fact that it appears it has given him a pretty wild trip. Now, could you please just help me?" Lexie understood being scared, sure. She got that. However, now wasn't the time for being scared. The more Andy regained his movement the more likely he'd injure himself further if his stitches weren't properly bandaged.

"Please," she breathed.

Andy's stomach started to churn again and suddenly he felt pain. A lot of pain. Like his leg was on fucking fire. He let out a low, drawn out groan of agony and dropped his hands away from his face, closing his eyes as he reached uselessly for the source of the pain. In spite of the throbbing, itching discomfort - understatement of the year - the rest of his body still felt numb and detached; like he was still in a dream world and he couldn't quite either break free from it or delve completely back in.

His head was pounding and he could hear his pulse throbbing in his ears, never mind that he could feel it in his temples. Ketamine. Why did he know that word?

The Luna parade down to one member, staring at him with a pained expression as though he'd slapped her in the face. Running and running and running. And then trees. Why trees...? Andy's mind was reeling and he still couldn't place the reality apart from the fantasy. Lolling his head to the side, he looked back at the blonde. Luna. "Like the moon, but not really..." he thought aloud. "And a yellow tongue from too many Pixie Stix." He wasn't even sure what that meant, but it sounded about right in his head and the words had come before he could stop them. "Apples and shapeshifters," he added, a confused expression crossing his already grimacing face.

Yes, she wanted to help Andy, and Luna's nod told that clearly to the other woman. It was the sound of pure agony that came from the man in question that made her step forward, removing her back from the comforting strength of the heavy door.

While she understood nearly absolutely nothing about what the young doctor had said, as she had never heard of either Ketamine or anesthetics in general. Wizards did not perform surgery, and when it could ever be explained to them, it was seen as horrifying and barbaric. Imagine, cutting into human flesh to root around inside. With razor sharp steel blades. It sounded more like a horror story than like an everyday occurrence.

Let us not even get into elective surgery.

Continually glancing about the room to look for any approaching threat, Luna timidly moved towards both of the other individuals in the room. Andy began rambling in little fragments, and she was able to recognize most of it as applying to her, "You...remember me?"

Lexie was getting frustrated. If she was more like Christina Yang they would listen to her. If she was more like Meredith she might have more of an idea what to do right now. Hell, if she was George maybe she'd have a more clever idea than just begging for help.

However, it was all Lexie could do, beg for help. She couldn't just drop Andy - despite his oncoming lucidity, she just couldn't let him writhe there on the floor. It seemed despite her asking, the blonde wasn't quite about to help her - it was as if she were intentionally ignoring her.

"I'm not sure what you're not understanding here, but we really need to get his leg bandaged before he really hurts himself." Lexie found herself wanting for a witty bit of commentary - however her mind was just a bit too wrapped up in completing her job without her patient managing to ruin it all.

"See that bandage there? I just need you to put it over the stitches, that's it."

Andy gave the blonde girl a sad smile and shook his head. "No, not really. Bits and pieces. I had a dream about you..." he muttered before wincing against the pain and looking away from her, back at Lexie. "Fuck, can I get something for this? My leg fuckin' kills," he complained.

Lexie was trying to tell the blonde - Luna. He was pretty sure it was Luna... Maybe. Possibly - to help her bandage his leg and Andy closed his eyes, feeling completely helpless, worthless, and frustrated with his situation. He should be able to sit up on his own. He should be able to do it himself. So, he tried again, only to retain a headrush sensation. "Oh...shit...Doc Lex, how much longer til this shit is out of my system?" he asked.

...how did he know that? Doc Lex? Had she said that...?

Luna was not intentionally ignoring her, not in the least. It was just that other things weighed on her attention. Such as the threat of dark wizards, curses and Andy being in pain. Still, she put away her terror in a box to be dealt with when there was not pain and bandages needing to be placed. It was a familiar sensation, putting thoughts away to be handled when their was not an immediate threat.

With a jerky nod, she moved forward enough to bend to pick up the bandage and place herself at Andy's side. Only she stopped meeting Andy's eyes after he said that he did not really remember her, not wanting to really think about that. Not at all.

Carefully she took the bandage and applied it, using a roll of oddly sticky tape that she had seen once before to secure it in place. One of her hands was on the side of his thigh, while she pressed the white tape into place so that it would not slip. With her face down, and her hair falling forward, she was mostly hidden in her efforts before she finished and quickly took a step backwards. Normally she would not be so considerate of 'personal space,' but this was a very abnormal situation.

Even by the standards of one Luna Lovegood.

"Nothing yet, Andy. You're just going to have to hold up until the Ketamine wears off, we're getting close." Reaching around him she again felt that crucial juncture at his wrist, mentally pacing his heartbeats for want of a watch. His heart was erratic, but that was to be expected. "Just a few more minutes, Andy. You can make it a few more minutes."

Lexie watched, for the moment a bit dumbfounded, as blondie finally made a move to respond to her request that the bandage be placed. She could see that she felt a bit odd placing the bandage in the area it was in; but, in Lexie's doctor world it was just another leg. Perhaps Andy's leg wasn't just any other for her?

"Thank you - if you could get my bottle of water he's going to need some fluids," she nodded at her welcome-to-the-wilderness pack with a faint smile.

While he was not surprised, Andy was disappointed when Lexie told him that he couldn't have anything for the pain and that he'd essentially just have to grin and bear it. At least for now. That was unappealing at best, but he could do it, yeah.

The way that Luna - he was sure that was her name, now, even if he didn't really know why - looked away from him when he said he didn't remember was confusing. Was that disappointment? Why did she care whether or not he remembered her? Should he?

But when she started to bandage his leg like Lexie asked her to, his stomach flip-flopped in a completely different way than it had been from the pain and the Ketamine. The feel of her hand on his thigh made him shift awkwardly and just slightly beneath her touch. He tried to look at her face, but her hair fell around it like she was hiding behind it. Was she his girlfriend or something? Andy's brow furrowed slightly in confusion. If she was his girlfriend, he should definitely remember that, shouldn't he? At the very least, he must be interested in her, because the fluttering in his stomach was pretty telling, if nothing else. It'd explain the Luna parade, at least, and it wasn't terribly unbelievable to think that maybe he liked her; she was beautiful.

Lexie's voice pulled his focus, though, and he looked back up at her even though she was clearly talking to Luna. His eyes followed her nod toward her kit and suddenly a few more things clicked.

"What does 'fuck' mean?"

"FI-YAH! I. Have made fire!"

"One bed would be fine."

"I dunno if it'd be crossing an understood boundary to suggest using each other's body heat until the heat from the fire actually gets to us down here, but..."

"You're a good man, Andy."

They'd arrived here together. They'd found the church; he'd built them a fire. They'd laid together on the floor and he'd watched her fall asleep. He remembered when he woke up, she wasn't there; he was in the woods, tied to another person in the rain. There was a cougar. That's why his leg hurt. He'd made it worse trying too hard to keep Luna safe; to make sure she was taken care of. Bob had given him Vicodin and told him to slow down. Lexie had replied when he wrote in the book that talked back asking how much of it he should be taking. He'd asked her to come to fix him and she had.

Little flashes of snippets of memories hit him. He'd lied to Luna so she wouldn't worry when he went to bring her food. He'd laid with his head in her lap and her hand in his hair as he apologized for it. ...he'd kissed her. She'd run away.

"I remember..." he said slowly.

She'd taken something he'd said the wrong way, but he couldn't remember what; that was still a little fuzzy. But whatever it was, he'd hurt her feelings. Was that why she'd been looking at him until he said he couldn't remember? Is that why she'd looked away? He owed her an apology for something and he hadn't given it?

Lexie said he would be down from the trip in a few minutes. He hoped so. And he hoped like hell that he could remember everything by the time he did.

Torn between believing that someone or something darker than whatever this 'ketamine' was, and listening to just what she was being told, Luna still did not meet either of their eyes. Occlumency was nothing she really had expertise in, so she had to resort to far more primitive to avoid any Legilimency.

When she smoothed over the tape onto his skin, Andy shifted beneath her touch, and Luna was nearly too tired to try to worry about translating what that small action meant. Energy was best devoted to keeping her mental guards up and staying alert to her surroundings. Not to even attempting to dissect either his or her reactions to helping put him back together.

The blonde caught a glimpse of his face out of the corner of her eye, but carefully continued to avoid direct contact.

Lexie's water bottle was already clutched in her hand, her body already turned back to bring it back, when Andy said that he had remembered. With the water held between her hands, she finally looked up to look at the man on the floor.

Lexie was stuck there, still, behind Andy acting like a chairback. Frankly, she was tired of it. She didn't think that doing some sutures out in the middle of the woods, with crazy ketamine trips and girls who couldn't follow simple directions could be so draining; but, it was.

"Do you mind, you know, kind of just propping Andy up for a few minutes? I can't really feel my knees," her voice was sort of small there - smaller than Doctor Lexie would have liked it to have been. She was supposed to be confident and knowledgeable. Instead, she was feeling weak and slow and tired.

"Andy, you're going to need to try and drink some water, OK? We already know there's nothing left in your stomach, and I really don't want you to get dehydrated."

She noticed the way that Blondie was acting kind of skeeved out. Maybe it was the sight of blood? Or maybe it was pants-less Andy. Whatever it was, Lexie didn't want to play psych consult at the moment - she just wanted to check her sutures one last time and leave Andy in the hands of his friend here.

It wasn't lost upon Andy that Luna wouldn't - maybe couldn't - look at him. Apparently, whatever else he'd done had really upset her, he could only assume. So, when Lexie asked the other woman to prop him up, he shook his head and, with effort, sat up on his own, putting his hands behind him and leaning back on them. They shook under his weight, but he'd survive. "Don't worry about it, she doesn't have to," he said to Lexie, all the while looking back at Luna. "I'll be fine. I'm coming down," he added.

Lexie said he'd need to stay hydrated and to that he nodded as well. He didn't bother telling her that he somehow already knew he was out of water and the tea was just going to have to do the job for now. There was a thick sensation of discomfort in the air between the two women and he sighed. Lexie, he could tell by the tone in her voice, was just tired and he couldn't blame her. Whatever had ruffled Luna's feathers was out of his control for now, it seemed, if she wouldn't even look at him.

"Thanks, Lex," he said, finally looking over his shoulder at her. "For the stitches. I appreciate it." He could tell by the sudden awkwardness in the room that she wanted to leave and he had no intention of making her stay; she'd done more than enough to help him already. So that was his way of letting her know he lifted obligation off her shoulders entirely. She could go, if she wanted, and he wouldn't hold it against her.

Blood Luna could handle. It was everything else at the moment about the situation that was hard to hold in her fingers to inspect and categorize before it seeped out between little gaps in her hands.

Things had to happen for a reason, and they must be leading to a happier part in the cycle of life. This was a mantra she had repeated many times, in many places, under many circumstances. So often that it had simply melted into who she was, long ago.

But this, the rest of it? Luna just did not know. Whatever her feelings for Andy were, fledgling or not, they were completely muddled, turned about and thrown back into the fray half clothed and drunk. Overwhelmed, but mostly emotional, social, things, the blonde witch would have liked to have been much more helpful, but she simply did not know how. Not at that moment. Even without her own tiredness from her 24 hour sugar high run off into nothingness.

She did, however, move a step towards Andy at Lexie's request, only to be stopped before her second step by his propping himself up. This series of misunderstandings lay between them like a gulf, invisible but there all the same.

Lexie sighed. Andy may be able to prop himself up, but the Doctor was none too keen on having him left there alone. Especially with dusk rapidly falling on them. For better or worse, Lexie knew that her resevoir of strength was near depleting. She couldn't be strong much longer for these two, patient or not. If she was back at Seattle Grace she would have left them without question, asking the duty nurse to call her with changes to his leg and heading to the on-call room to take a nap. Lexie had no on-call room to escape to right now. She had no place to hide and shut it all out. She was in the woods, with strangers and using dental floss and sewing needles to stitch people up.

The silence around them was pregnant - and it wasn't entirely Lexie's fault. "You'll stay, right?" She looked pointedly at the blonde. "You'll stay and make sure he... Make sure he's OK, right? And you'll come find me if he's not, right? I found this barn with these couches, and I'm going to go sleep there. You'll come find me, right?" She was rambling. Lexie was rambling because she was tired and on the verge of crumbling.

Doctor Grey needed something, and that something started with getting out of this church.

With Lexie still addressing Luna, Andy sighed and closed his eyes, letting his head fall back. This place was fucked up and all, but today probably had to be the worst day of them all so far.

Misunderstandings were one thing, but when they kept building and building and building with no end in sight and Andy had no control over them, it was simultaneously exhausting and infuriating. He'd never get it right. She'd never understand. Things would probably never be the same. It was coming back, now. He'd tried to follow her to explain and she wouldn't let him. She'd thought he'd wanted to take back the kiss when he hadn't meant that at all. ...and there was nothing he could do about it.

Lexie sounded exhausted and it wasn't like Andy could blame her. "If she wants to go, I can ask around and see if anyone else wants to come over and play babysitter, Lex; it's no big deal," he said in a quiet, flat tone. He hated the idea of Luna leaving, but he wasn't going to hold her there if she wanted to go and he didn't like the idea of Lexie trying to make her, either. Luna might not want to look at him, but he still felt like it was his job to protect her and if that meant letting her leave him there, then so be it.

Andy's blunt statement was no more clarifying to the young witch than anything else had been that day. Whether he wanted her to stay or go, she did not really know. Did not really understand. Even for the quite level emotioned woman, it was frustrating that she was unable to find much that she really understood at that moment.

Of course, if the world had been exactly as it was supposed to in her world, things would have been much different. Luna never would have met Andy, or if she had, she would not have been able to tell him much of anything without being chastised by the Ministry for it. She had already broken several Laws of Secrecy, telling of the Death Eaters, mentioning the Ministry, even just announcing she was a witch. Not that any really seemed to believe that fact.

Whether or not he had meant that he had wanted to take back the small kiss, Luna would only come to believe after much thought that perhaps Andy did not know what he wanted.

She looked over at him before answering Lexie for herself, even though he likely missed that she had by virtue of not looking at her. "I will stay," came the simple comment with a nod, "And watch over him." Despite everything, Luna would brave the falling darkness with its bizarre sounds and strange evil lurking in the woods. If it was for Andy's good. Whether it was because she had least considered him a friend or something else, it just was.

Lexie couldn't stay here. She wouldn't stay here. She had enough emotional bullshit of her own for being dropped in the middle of this place that she just couldn't sit and watch Days of Our Lives play out right in front of her. She felt bad, she didn't know what exactly was going on; but, whatever it was, it wasn't pretty.

Lexie could hear the stirrings of something in the woods, she didn't know what and she didn't care what - all she knew is that she had to escape. Pushing up from the floor she offered Luna a brief, but kind smile. "I'm in the barn, just come get me, OK?"

Lexie didn't stop to try and clean up her mess, she just pulled off her gloves, wiped her hands on her thighs and tried her best to smile confidently to Andy. "You're going to be fine, just stay off that leg until I tell you otherwise," she instructed, tucking the gloves into her pocket for lack of another place to put them.

Not waiting she was out the church door and running to the barn. Something was moving in the woods, something loud and fierce. It wasn't safe to be outside anymore, and she needed to hide.

Andy was only slightly surprised that Luna agreed to stay with him, although he was fairly certain it was out of some sort of obligation or unnecessary sense of loyalty she felt toward him for whatever reason. It wasn't like he'd really done anything to make her want to stick around; not that he could think of, anyway. All he'd managed to do the whole time was create a mountain of miscommunications that made her uncomfortable or upset.

But then Lexie was getting up and he could tell she could feel the tension in the air and couldn't wait to get the hell out of there. He couldn't honestly blame her, when he thought about it. "Will do," he agreed to the doctor's order that he stay off the leg for the time being. With that, it seemed, she couldn't get out of the church faster and he was alone with Luna.

"Thanks for staying with me," he replied quietly, venturing a sidelong glance in her direction. He laid back down, then, staring up at the ceiling. He should explain to her what had happened earlier; what he'd actually meant that she'd taken the wrong way, but somehow right now didn't seem like a very good time to try it. So, he laced his hands behind his head and laid there in silence. The less he said, the less chance there was for him to make her upset again, the way he figured it.

While it was about loyalty, it had little to do with obligation. Everything was muddled, confusing, but Luna still considered Andy at least her friend. However, she was not sure that he felt the same way in that regard.

To assure Lexie, Luna gave a nod, her usual bubbly ethereal nature fading into tired and jerky movements with little real thought behind them. "I will." The healer left, and despite the fact that she had faced much, much worse than a little tension between two people, the night loomed heavily ahead her to Luna's eyes.

"You are welcome," the blonde was looking out one of the stained glass windows to the darkening sky, colored behind images of Christopher and his friends. Entirely missing his glance, she only looked back at him after he had looked away again.

She had returned with little actual plan as to what could be said, to be clarified, and found herself even more entrenched in confusion. This 'Ketamine' was either a drug as they said it was, or it was simply another name for a curse. The thought put her and kept her on edge and uncomfortable, that there could be dark wizards out there, outside the church. As for what she had briefly considered could have been a misunderstanding, Andy said nothing to say that it had been.

So perhaps she had been correct, he had wanted to take back the kiss. There was little evidence offered to dispute it now. Luna was still not sure how she felt about the kiss in the first place, but if he wished it had never happened at all, she would put it out of her mind for good.

There was an uncomfortable, pregnant pause between the two of them, then, after Luna had responded to his gratitude and Andy continued to stare at the ceiling, his stomach still churning and his leg throbbing dully. "Thanks for helping Lexie, too," he added softly. Without looking at her, because he didn't think he could bear to see the discomfort on her face again, Andy let out a soft sigh. "And I'm sorry you had to see all of...that," he added awkwardly.

The fact that she'd not only seen him at his worst in the mornings, in unbearable pain, completely unaware of the world around him, and vomiting, but that she'd still stuck around probably should've been enough for Andy to realize that she cared, at least by some stretch of the word. He just couldn't find it in his heart to get his hopes up with it, regardless. It was easy enough for Andy to fathom the possibility that he was a disappointment to her, as it wouldn't have been a new experience for him and with each reoccurance he actually found himself less and less surprised and numb to the point of being almost completely unfazed by it. Andy was at a point in life where he was past the point of being emotionally affected by the disappointment he instilled in others. By now, if he continued to let that sort of thing bother him, he might never be happy. It was easier to smoke a bowl and pretend it didn't matter; that if he didn't care, it'd go away again. It was more difficult here than that, because he didn't have his bong or his stash and he couldn't just hide out in the back of his van. He still had to face her.

"I feel like shit," he muttered, closing his eyes. "I think," he said, too drained to have the proper reaction to the horrible noises outside, "I need to sleep. Can you take first shift watching? I hate to ask, but..." he let his voice trail off. If she said no, he'd fight to stay awake because it was only fair, but he had a feeling he'd have to find something to manage it and that wouldn't be pleasant - like maybe purposefully irritating the pain in his ear or, worse, his leg, just to keep from nodding off on the job.

It was not in her to tell him that she had seen far worse, not now. Too confused and not understanding of what was happening, mixed with edgings of fading terror that simply turned into her guard pulled high, Luna was not in a state to explain that things had been even worse years before. That the war had brought sights and memories that she had mostly banished from her nightmares. She nodded, but it was likely he did not see the small and jerky action.

Never in her confusion had Luna even flitted over the thought to be disappointed in Andy, never. Thrown completely off kilter by, worried for and by him, but not disappointed. Even as she feared that their friendship was slipping away from her with no clue as how to fix it, or even where to begin, but the witch never even considered that she even had the right to be disappointed in him. Let alone that she would, or why.

"Go to sleep," she finally spoke, after a long silence. "I will keep watch." While she understood him little, and understood that he wished to protect her even less, Luna was not a child. There was something stronger in her than she displayed freely, something steel within that small frame of pixie stix and floating thought. There might have been no wand tucked behind her ear that she could use to wield a shielding or disarming charm, but she could at least keep watch.

Call for reinforcement in the journals perhaps, if that was what was needed. She was scared and confused, but she could grip reality at least enough to do her best here.

A small smile, wan and tired, crossed Andy's lips and he finally ventured a look at Luna when she told him he should sleep; that she would keep watch. When I'm back in good shape, Luna, I'll pay you back the favor. I'll explain everything and fix it. I'll get us back where we were, just wait and see, he thought, but hadn't the guts to say. "Thank you," he said sincerely.

With a yawn and a small sigh, Andy stretched out a little further and closed his eyes. He probably wouldn't fall asleep right away, because he still had plenty of things running around in his mind and he was still a little out of it, but...

"Night, beautiful," he mumbled quietly as sleep started to take him much faster than for which he'd been prepared. A moment later, he was out like a light.

"You're welcome Andy," Luna answered quietly back. With Andy sleeping on their makeshift bed, and feeling as if she needed physical space between them, the blonde young woman sat herself on one of the pews. On the opposite side of the fire, in fact, pulling her feet up to her chest as she kept her eyes open and her guard up.

Odd sounds echoed outside, making the witch get up to run into the other room to collect her journal. She came back, curling back up against the back of her pew. Scared and alone, the book and pen clutched in her hand, Luna Lovegood kept watch.
