Not so bad? Sarah Jane felt a rush of sympathy for the awkward young man. If Vas Captio could be considered "not so bad" compared to where he'd been, well, it must have been very bad indeed. And, she could understand. Compared to certain days back home, even this place could seem "not so bad". The only difference was, on those days, there was something she could do to fix the situation. Even on the worst day - the day the Daleks had moved the entire planet - when she was the most terrified she'd been in her life - there had been something she could do. She'd helped the Doctor to defeat the Daleks once and for all, to do what he'd nearly done when she'd been sent with him to Skaro all those years ago. But here...there was nothing. Just moving along and making the best of things and hoping you weren't one of the "lucky ones" chosen for any sort of experimentation.
"You seem to have arrived at a relatively quiet period," she said, offering another little smile to him. "Aside from that ghastly business in the cage," another shudder, "it's been calm. Which I'm sure means that the Management's up to something, but that's not the point today." She shook her head, determined not to bring down the new friendly face.
"Have you been over to the gym?" she asked suddenly. "There's quite a lovely array of food laid out. Most of us haven't eaten much here, so we're rather glad of it." She pulled an orange from her bulging pockets to show Willard. "There's enough that people are taking some away for later, just in case we're left without again."
