Andy Gallagher is not the droid you're looking for ([info]brain_ninja) wrote in [info]vas_captio_rpg,
Andy's hands remained up in the defensive mode and his eyebrows raised just slightly as he tried to keep a straight face and not panic right along with her. "Yes, breathe. I know. I heard you, but it'll be okay. I swear to God, Elliot, it'll be okay," he insisted calmly. Or, rather, as calmly as he could manage. He took a deep breath and relaxed when she did, at least a little. It was difficult to see her this way, because he knew that there were plenty more thoughts in her head right then than she'd probably ever share and if she wasn't going to share, he'd never be able to help. Helpless, yeah, that was, in a word, how he felt just then.

When Elliot's eyes narrowed, Andy's widened. Shit, he'd upset her. He hadn't meant to upset her with his confusion. She hadn't, after all, looked or seemed - or been - pregnant yesterday and now she was two months? "Okay, okay, we'll just..." Andy paused. "You know what? We'll just act like it is. Maybe it is. I don't know, you're right, this place is fucked up. So okay, I'm kind of a fuck up, but I could be a dad, right? I'm not so bad. I'll give up the pot and it'll be fine. I'm a responsible guy mostly," he said, feeling his chest constrict with worry. He was telling her that he could do it, but that didn't mean he believed a single word of what he was saying to her. Giving up weed? Being a father when he could barely even take care of himself? Shit, he wouldn't be able to take care of himself at all in the real world if it weren't for his mind thing. ...oh God, and that. If it was his, would it be a freak, too?

Elliot pulled her shirt up and asked him to look at her stomach and obediently, Andy did so. She was right. There was definitely a bump there that he hadn't noticed before and as much as Andy didn't like to consider himself shallow, he'd have noticed that. He definitely would have. "Yeah," he confirmed, looking down. "Yeah, I think maybe you're not wrong." The way she was looking at him when she said it wasn't supposed to happen that way; there was supposed to be check ups and vitamins and baby shopping...broke his heart.

Andy took a step closer to her and took her face gently in his hands after brushing her hair back. "Hey...you know what? Maybe I'm not your husband or boyfriend or anything, but I'm someone. And yeah, the thrift shop isn't Baby Gap, but there's gotta be clothes in there. Lexie's got some equipment, right? Maybe they'll drop a sonogram machine thingie or whatever off at the gym for her. There's a whole pharmacy full of stuff, there's gotta be prenatal vitamins. And for what it's worth, I always think you glow, gorgeous, so see? It's not that bad. It's makeshift, but we can do it," he said with a small smile, looking her in the eye as he said it. "Okay?"
