Who: Hannibal King & Selene
What: Vampire and Vampire Hunter meet.
Where: In town, outside the Thrift Store.
When: Day 24, 11:12AM
Rating: Very R
Status: Complete

After being abandoned by not one, but two women in the span of five minutes, King was feeling rather unloved. Nevermind the fact that he had no idea where he was, or what was going on, or why he was here, or where here was... The most important thing was that he had no guns. He had no stakes. He had no bullets, no knives, and no weapons of any kind. All he had were the clothes (and the target) on his back. Oh yeah, and that stupid box full of crap, minus the tube socks he'd given to.. what was her name? Kimberly. Yeah. Kimberly.. he'd known a blonde Kimberly once.. she'd been trouble, that one. She'd bitten a large wound into his shoulder. He'd loved every moment of it.

A smirk found his face at the memory, even as he stepped out of the forest and into the town. It took him a while to walk along the road, looking around, catching his reflection a few times in the dirty windows of shops. It was a ghost town. Where had everyone gone? For all he knew, those two girls he'd met were ghosts themselves.. but it didn't seem very likely.

"Hello?" He called out, cupping a gloved hand against his mouth as he did. There had to be someone here.. and he certainly wasn't worried about it being a town of vampires. Maybe he'd been knocked unconscious or something..? Really, it didn't matter how he'd gotten here, it just mattered where here was, and how he was going to get out.  "Anybody home?" He shouted out again.

The vampire didn't have to be nearby to hear an unfamiliar voice calling out. Her sensitive hearing made certain of that. It was a little disconcerting though, that someone was just outside yelling, like they had no idea... oh, maybe they were new. Or suffering from amnesia. Hadn't Rose said her friend was sick? Well, Selene assumed anyone bitten by a zombie would be sick in likely more than one way. And had it been anyone but someone Rose considered a friend she might "accidentally" kill them when she found them, just to make sure their was no risk of another appearance of zombies.

The strong winds made tracking difficult to an extent, so Selene was moving across the rooftops. They provided her the best vantage point possible, considering by now her eyes were quite well-adjusted to the darkness, even if she could tell that it wouldn't hurt to feed soon to recharge herself. She moved quietly from one building to the next, ending up atop the thrift store when she found a decent view of the person yelling. Her eyes narrowed as she surveyed him, and she knew instantly he was some sort of hunter. A hunter used to carrying several weapons by the looks of it, which made her suspicious. There was no telling just what he hunted.

Still, she was virtually impossible to kill now and besides, if he was in fact new then she had the advantage of being familiar with the layout of the town, even if it was awash in darkness. She quietly lept down to the sidewalk, boots making a minimal amount of noise, and she pushed her hair out of her face as she walked to approach him from the front of the building. "I take it you're new here. Or you have a very short attention span."

He did look like a hunter, didn't he? With that shotgun strap across his back, the two gun holsters on his sides, strapped down to his thighs.. and the convenient stake-sized holders across his breast. These weren't the sort of hunters you were used to, eh, Selene? Used to the rabid dog variety, weren't you?

But when there was suddenly a woman coming from the direction of the front of the.. what was that? Thrift Store? What a strange little town.. but he focused dark eyes onto her again and smiled in greeting, lifting a gloved (fingerless) hand at her, but not moving any of his fingers.

"New here. But I do have a very short attention span, comes from a life time of being ignored as a child. Very traumatic. I'll tell you about it some time. But first, I'd like to know where here is. I wake up in the forest with two women, and while normally that isn't a surprise for me.. we were all wearing our clothes, and that tells me something's wrong." He lifted his eyebrows some and turned his head, giving her a 'well?' sort of look. "You look pretty comfortable here.." An absent observation, interrupting whatever reply she might have been trying to give.

She noted his expression but made no show of smiling back. Sorry, natural suspicion and all. She did notice the curious holders on his front and wondered a moment what they had held before he arrived here. Her own thigh holsters and various pockets were quite empty as well, and though she was used to it she still lamented the loss. She was more than familiar with the methods humans, but mostly lycans, used to kill her kind. Hell, vampires staked each other from time to time when they needed someone to hold still long enough for a beheading. But slayers and the like hadn't been a big problem in her world, thanks to Corvinus and his Cleaners. Pity the ship blew up and they were all dead now. She could have learned quite a bit.

Selene opened her mouth then paused when he tossed in another comment, and she let out a quiet borderline frustrated sigh. They were from similar times then. He reminded her of young humans she occasionally encountered when having to track lycans through the streets. "I wouldn't say comfortable, just slightly used to how things carry on. And this is the fourth day of no sun, so yes, I've had time to get comfortable with the dark." A slight twitch of her lips as she fought against a smirk. Oh yes, she was quite comfortable in the dark.

She spared an absent glance around, no longer worried about zombies but there seemed to be a high amount of insect activity today. Something told her it had to do with the corpses but she hadn't explored the matter. Had no reason to, really. "As for where this place is? No one knows. Though a few seem to think we're on another planet. Don't ask me how that's supposed to work." All the space talk was completely over the vampire's head. "It's a prison, more or less."

There was a high insect content in this place, wasn't there? King wasn't dwelling on it, though. It smelled like death, of course there'd be bugs everywhere.

"So let me get this right.. you live here. There's been four days with no sun rise. And it's a prison? I haven't seen any bars." Oh, King, if only you knew what you were talking to, you'd be a lot less personable about it. But he was most interested in getting information. Where ever he was, he needed to find out as much about it as possible. His survival might depend on it, if it really was a prison.. but what sort of prison let people wander around freely?

His eyes were dropping to observe her empty holsters. Guns. She'd had guns, too. Kindred spirit. He couldn't help himself. "So what are you, exactly? A cop?" Right, a leather-encased cop. Only in strip clubs, King.

"Glass walls." she replied easily. "I'll show you if you like. I didn't believe it myself until I saw them." It certainly wouldn't be a problem for her to lead them through the forest to one of the four glass walls. She'd tracked and run through woods in the deepest part of night countless times before, and those were often with lycans on her tail, or ahead of her. In this place it would practically be a cakewalk. "I've been here over a week. Some have been here for close to a month now."

She paused a moment to marvel at herself being so chatty, and helpful for that matter. But she had only humans, well, mostly humans, and a lone werewolf to talk with in this place. It meant she was having to relearn how to be friendly. How to deal with non-vampires in a manner that wasn't throwing them against a wall and threatening them unless they told her what she wanted to know.

Of course, if she hadn't gotten to kill a few zombies in the days before she would have been in such a good mood.

Her brows rose slightly at the question, then lowered as quickly. "Not quite. Hunter. Which I'm guessing you're some variety of as well." She found little point to lie when her attire made her stand out so drastically.

"Glass walls?" Really? Glass walls were keeping people inside this place? "Why.. don't you just break them?" He'd said it very slowly, squinting one eye down at her as if he wasn't sure if he should be treating her like a retarded child, or like a crazy person. If they were held in by glass walls, he was sure that there were any number of things in this place that could break them. Oh.. your fist, for example? Unless, of course, they were like those walls at SeaWorld, you know, the ones that held in Shamu? They were like five feet thick. That'd be harder to break with your fist. Maybe that was the problem? "Yeah, I'd like to see them." So he knew what he was dealing with, of course. If he was going to be an ass, he should at least know what he's talking about, right?

But then she was calling herself a hunter, and King's eyebrows lifted high into his hairline. "Really. A hunter? I'm guessing it's not deer you're hunting, dressed like that. But yeah, you're right. I'm a hunter too. Werewolves, mostly. Sometimes there's a half-breed that needs to be removed.. but mostly, just werewolves." You know, since all the vampires were dead. But he wasn't going to get into that right now, in case this woman had no idea vampires were real. He was going to look crazy enough saying he hunted werewolves, he didn't need to give a monologue about killing off all the vampires.. though, it might have been worth it, just for the look on her face..

She rolled her eyes at the way he questioned her. "And you think that hasn't been tried?" Gesturing the way she was headed, as she assumed he was more the type to walk alongside or lead himself rather than follow, Selene started off in the direction of the nearest wall. Though she was glancing over at him once he mentioned werewolves.

Her first reaction was pleasant surprise at coming across someone else who hunted such quarry, even if he was human. Granted, he looked a little wolfish, what with the facial hair and overall musculature, but humans hunting her kind or werewolves were the exception to the rule in her world. Once that feeling passed, she found herself fleetingly worried for Remus. Worried and... almost territorial? If anyone was going to kill the little pup it would be her, certainly not some human. She blamed the recent zombies for the path of her thoughts, since she had been thinking more recently of how to aid the werewolf, not kill him.

"A half-breed of what? They're either a werewolf or they aren't." She raised a curious brow as she looked at him. Was he talking about humans having werewolf babies? In her experience they still turned out to be lycans, just perhaps weaker. It all depended on how strong the strain was. "Ironically enough, I've spent most of my life hunting werewolves. Thankfully they don't seem to be a problem in this place." Didn't mean there weren't any, just that she didn't consider Remus a problem.

"I don't know, you're the ones stuck in a glass jar, not me." His response was cheeky and came with an expectant lift of his eyebrows, but then he was falling into step beside her and lifting a gloved hand to rub at the back of his neck. "You know, a half-breed. Half werewolf, half vampire. They're the worst kind. None of the vampire weaknesses, none of the werewolf weaknesses, and the strength of both. The drawback seems to be that they're wolves all the time. Well.. they're this.. mash-up of human and wolf. Walk on two legs all the time, think with a vampire mind.. clever, those lot. Hard to kill. More fun that way, though."

He finally turned his head to look at her. "You haven't ever run into a half-breed before? They're fiesty. Not all bad though." Brown eyes turned forward once again into the forest as they neared it. "Met a few who actually seem really lovely. Keep to themselves, don't want any trouble. Doesn't happen often, though. And I'm not really sure if not having a werewolf problem in this place is a good thing, or a bad thing..."

"Oh, a hybrid." Once he started to explain what he meant she immediately understood. Though to her, a half-breed meant one that was weaker because of a mix, not stronger, like a hybrid. It was just another little thing that made her certain they came from different worlds. Not that she was expecting to come across any she knew in this place, nor did she hope to. "Those are extremely rare where I come from." She just barely refrained from saying they were frowned upon, since he might draw a suspicious conclusion from such words. "And their changed form is more vampire than wolf, other than for the claws." she remarked, thinking of Michael.

Selene paused at the treeline at his words, just long enough to look at him with a slightly amused expression. "What, worried the big bad wolf's going to attack you in the forest?" Her tone was clearly teasing, and she started walking again without waiting for him. "There aren't any werewolves out here, I've checked countless times. Or real wolves, for that matter. Mostly just small woodland creatures from what I've found, and the occasional deer. Nothing to be concerned about."

"Yeah, hybrid, half-breed, they mean the same things where I come from." He smirked some and smoothed a hand over where his holster was-- where his gun should have been. He wished he had it. Any of this three guns-- even his stakes. Anything would be welcomed right about now. "They aren't that popular where I come from, either. But they happen more often than you'd think. Rarer now, though.." Ominous statement.

However, as they were coming in closer to the forest, he rolled his eyes up, then back to her. "If the big bad wolf did attack me, I'm sure that you'd swoop in and save me from being mauled, right? Oh, I'm King, by the way." Sort of like calling yourself 'Lord' or 'Master', right? But really, it was just his last name. "What's your name?" Since if he was going to die out here, he was going to do it knowing the pretty woman's name, at least. And she sure was pretty. She had that dangerous vibe coming off of her in waves, and it was like a drug for King. He wanted more of that feeling. It was the only sort of girl that he liked.

She chuckled and again looked at him. "I don't know, what's in it for me? Maybe I'd let you get mauled to distract the beast to make it easier to kill." The grin on her face was playful, particularly for her since good spirits weren't exactly common for her. One was far more likely to catch her being brooding and serious than any variation of playful.

"Did you name yourself, or am I supposed to believe you actually have some sort of title?" Which wasn't exactly rare where she came from, at least when it came to the older vampires. She supposed Lucian had been a lord in his own right. "And my name is Selene." Her eyes narrowed slightly as she focused her gaze forward, slowing her pace a little as they began to make their way through the forest. The darkness seemed to close in even more, and she knew it wouldn't be hard for the mortal to lose sight of her, particularly since she was wearing all black. So was he, but even if she did happen to lose sight of him she could easily follow the scent of his blood or the beat of his heart. It was good for him she wasn't feeling exceptionally hungry.

"Well, I could offer you the best sex you've ever had in your life." He turned his head some to the side as he said that, eyebrows lifting in a suggestive way, though he didn't even crack a smile. "I hear multiple orgasms are a wonderful gift to give any woman. Perhaps if you're kind and save my life from the evil werewolves, Santa will come 'round and give you a shiny evening of mind-blowing sex for being a good girl."

Then he was looking forward again, casual as you please. You'd get used to it, Selene, he was just that sort. "King. It's my name. My surname. Hannibal King, at your service. And it's so nice to meet you, Selene. Your parents didn't gift you with a surname, is that it? Or are you like Cher or Madonna? That's fine with me, I like their music.. catch tunes. Lovely girls, except Cher, her nose is sort of big." He tilted his head to the side, as if picturing her face, then he shivered a little. Image gone.

"You said there were no werewolves in these woods.. am I to take that to mean that there are werewolves outside the woods? Wandering through the town? Where do we sleep, anyway?" Talkative, wasn't he? How this man ever snuck up on anything was beyond us.

His comment had her rolling her eyes, grin lingering for the moment. "As if I haven't heard that before." Which was true enough. Kraven had tried that tactic with her for awhile, then tried power, then just tried to annoy her into marrying him. Oh, no, he'd thought he was being intimidating. Clearly he hadn't known her at all. And thinking on it now? Selene wondered if Viktor had put him up to it or it really was all Kraven's own idea. Either way, they were thoughts for a different time.

"Are you always this talkative, or does following a strange woman into a forest simply make you chatty?" she asked as she tossed a glance over her shoulder at him, mildly amused. If he talked or was otherwise this noisy when he hunted he was clearly of the 'goad into attacking' type of hunter in her book.

And she was thankful for the darkness and that he was slightly behind her when he asked about werewolves in town. She glared into the dark, eyes starting to turn blue for an instant and then tapering back to brown. "None that I know of." Selene lied easily. "And I've met most everyone by now. As for sleeping arrangements, pick a building. Most stick to the museum or gymnasium, but that's not the case with everyone." Herself included. She made the mental note to speak with Remus and warn him about this guy. And possibly mention him to Rose and Tonks as well. It wouldn't do for anyone to let slip there was a young werewolf living quietly among them now that there was another hunter here.

"Yeah.. pretty much always this talkative, but watching you walk in all that leather is making me a little extra chatty." He lifted his eyebrows but didn't crack into a smile, no, he did deadpan much better. But he was clearly that sort of 'goad into attacking' kind of hunter, he liked the thrill, he didn't want to sneak in and get someone in the back. He wanted a fight. He always had.

Sometimes it was a bad idea.

"Just pick a building? Yeah, I think I could do that. I'll poke around when we get back into town. Find myself a nice little bachelor pad, get some strobe lights, cable TV, maybe a little HBO for the late-night porn. You know, just make myself at home." But then they were slowly making their way up to the glass and King let out a slow breath. She hadn't been kidding.

Long strides took him up to it, smoothing his hands along its surface, bare fingers and glove-covered palms. The target on his back now clearly visible to his dark-haired companion. Cheeky, wasn't he? "Glass. We're stuck in a box surrounded by glass. How embarrassing."

She threw another roll of her eyes his way but let him talk. It was probably a little thereputic as well, she imagined. Some people talked when they were nervous, or talked to help keep away the nerves. She wouldn't fault him for either. He was, after all, a human hunting inhuman creatures. Least, as far as she could tell.

Selene stopped walking and leaned her back against a nearby tree as she watched him inspect the glass. The vampire had done the same thing. Walked the entire length, actually. She couldn't simply take someone's word that they were completely boxed in. His words brought a bit of a wry grin to her lips. "It really is. No one knows how high up it goes. I've heard people have tried to dig under it but no luck there either."

"Then it looks like we're waiting it out, now doesn't it? I'm guessing that you all tried to break it and failed.. and that it's pretty damn high up." He was tilting his head back to look up at the dark sky, straining to see the top. But there was nothing. And after a few moments, he was turning to look back at her. "I think I'm going to walk along the perimeter, give it a look for myself. Can I expect I'll see you again in town? Maybe you'll be willing to share your bachelorette pad when you find it." That brought a bit of a smirk to his face. "I'll need a place to sleep permanently, eventually. Well, for as long as I'm here, and I couldn't think of a safer place than with another hunter." If only he knew what you were, Selene. Maybe in a few days, once there was sunlight, he'd see the truth. Perhaps not.. he was under the impression all vampires were, you know.. dust.

Selene gave a slight nod when he remarked on wanting to see it all for himself. "Of course. I did the same when I first got here. Hard to really believe it unless you see it for yourself." The small smile on her lips was understanding. And then it twisted into a bit of a smirk to reflect his. "Yes, I'm sure we'll see each other in town. It is a rather small place, after all." she teased. "I haven't found a steady place myself, but it certainly couldn't hurt for hunters to stick together." He had his reasons, no matter what they were, and she had hers. Which at the moment was mostly to look out for Remus. Mostly. There was a small part of her that felt a bit of relief at having someone a bit like-minded around.

"Good, I hope we do. So I'll find you later. Don't flake out on me." He pointed an exposed finger at her, curling the rest back under, into his palm to press against the leather there.

"We'll find a place, spruce it up, get some window shades, an area rug, comforter, it'll be great." He lifted his eyebrows in a playful way, then actually smiled, something that Hannibal King just didn't normally do. Smirks, sure. Smiles? Oh-so-rare.

"I'll see you later, Selene." And with that, the other hunter was turning on his heel and heading down the length of that wall, away from the darker woman. He needed to see for himself.
