Day 23, Early Afternoon
Who: Illyana Rasputin and Andy Gallagher
What: Trying to feel clean
When: Day 23, early afternoon
Where: The Gym
Rating: um...PG-13, just in case.
Status: Complete

Illyana had waited until Gambit had collected Jay's burned and bloated corpse before she decided to head toward the gym. The idea of a shower, no matter how cold the water might be, was keeping her going at the moment. She had an overwhelming need to feel clean. At least, as clean as she could in a place like this. When was the last time she'd done more than splash water on her face? The fact that she couldn't remember disturbed her.

She summoned a Stepping Disc to get to the gym. After her run-in with the zombified Wolverine the day before, she didn't want to be anywhere out in the open. And she had run around the gym enough the day she'd been six that she had a good idea of where she could end up and not be in anyone's line of sight. She skirted around the areas people were hanging out, not wanting to get in anyone's way, and headed for the showers.

Ice cold water was never fun to shower in, but it wasn't as bad as it could have been today, thanks to the heat. Still, it stung a little on her exposed skin. Illyana kept her bikini on while she showered. She didn't want to accidentally give anyone a show, and given the number of people who'd found bodies when they'd woken up, she assumed there'd be a lot of people wanting showers today. Once she'd scrubbed herself down as best she could with just her hands, she turned the water off, then stepped out of the shower-area. It was hot enough that she'd dry pretty quickly without a towel. She found a spare bench to sit on, and, plopping her jeans and shirt in a pile beside her, made herself comfortable while she waited for the water to evaporate.

Andy couldn't remember the last time he'd taken a shower and that...was not a good thing. He thought maybe it was the day after he'd been a six-year-old, but all the days were blurring together now; everything was one big ball of suck, the way he saw it. Especially since the sun hadn't come up, Andy couldn't really bother telling the difference between one day and the next. After seeing Illyana mention wanting to take a shower, it reminded Andy that he hadn't in a few days, at least, and so then he wanted to take a shower as well.

Luckily for him, the van was parked - and now would continue to be, apparently, because his battery seemed to be dead when he'd tried to enjoy some tunes that morning - beside the gym, so once he'd finally found all the toiletries Sam had given him ages ago and he made himself actually exit the van, it was only a few feet to the gym door. In he went and headed straight for the shower.

The water was like ice and he remembered very quickly how fast he had to get in and out in order not to freeze. Without a towel, Andy used his shirt to dry his hair and then huddled behind some of the lockers to drip dry - it was hot enough, he thought, that it wouldn't take terribly long for him to be able to at least pull his jeans on without too much resistance or chafing. In the mean time, he'd heard the shower turn on and he raised his eyebrows. The only person he'd noticed mentioning anything about taking a shower was Illyana and Andy immediately panicked. Shit...wrong locker room. He'd been so wrapped up in his own thoughts, he hadn't really bothered to look at the sign on the door; he'd just let his feet take him to the nearest shower. At least he'd finished before the other person had shown up and he'd been hiding behind lockers when they'd walked in. Especially if it was Illyana; that'd be embarrassing at best and mortifying at worst.

By the time the water was turned off, though, Andy had gotten dressed and took a seat on the floor, facing the wall away from the entrance to the showers themselves. "Heads up, if you're a girl, my bad I'm in the wrong locker room - my bad - but I swear to God I'm not looking and I didn't hear you come in until the shower turned on," he warned whoever it was, not wanting for them to turn a corner and run into him when they were expecting to be alone in the room, most especially since there didn't seem to be towels anywhere for the person to be hiding behind when they emerged.

Illyana lifted her head as she heard the familiar voice echo in the room. "Andy?" she called. She rose, leaving her clothing on the bench and, slipping her sandals back on, walked around the lockers to look for him.

He'd gone to the wrong locker room. It was something Doug might have done at home, head too much into his computers that he didn't notice where he was going. It was something Roberto would have done on purpose, and then played off as an accident.

One thing Illyana Rasputin had never been was body shy. Her standard garb as Sorceress Supreme of Limbo left more flesh exposed than her black bikini. It didn't occur to her that Andy might be a bit uncomfortable or embarrassed at being partially dressed in the wrong locker room. She turned the corner and spied him sitting down, facing away from her on the floor. "You know there's benches on the other side," she said, leaning against the row of lockers. The metal wasn't exactly cool, but it didn't burn her skin either. "You don't have to sit like you're in time out. We did that a few days ago when we were six."

Andy's eyebrows raised at the sound of a familiar voice. She'd known who it was; she...was a she. Wrong locker room. Fuck. "Yeah...? ...Illyana?" he guessed and hoped for the best. It was hard to attach a voice to a face at this point in his life. There were too many new faces, too many new voices, too many new handwriting styles in the journals and Andy couldn't keep them all straight. He thought, though, that this voice in particular was Yana's.

As if on cue, she came around the corner and her voice was suddenly right behind him, teasing him about the way he was sitting and he turned reflexively to the sound. The second he did, he turned away again without even thinking about it. Whoaaaa she was way hotter than any girl that age had any right to be. Andy closed his eyes and swallowed thickly. "Yeah, I know," he replied. "But I didn't know if you'd, y'know, be naked or something...all I heard was a shower and I didn't want to accidentally see something that would get me smacked across the face by a chick or the shit kicked out of my by a dude, know what I mean?" he asked.

"You can get dressed, I swear I won't look. It really was an accident; I'm kinda out of it today and I just wasn't paying any attention to the sign on the door. Sorry about that, seriously," he said sincerely, his back still to her even as he was secretly sitting there with his eyes closed trying to singe the memory into his brain. God damn. This place wasn't a big enough mind fuck as it was but letting barely of-age girls walk around looking that gorgeous was just not fair.

It was kind of adorable, the way Andy seemed so embarrassed about being in the wrong locker room. She stifled a giggle as he turned to look at her and then turned back around almost immediately. It reminded her of Piotr. He never did feel entirely comfortable around his female colleagues when they were in costume, especially if the costume was a little revealing.

"Only perk of being taken when I was; I arrived here in a bathing suit," she said, shrugging. Not that Andy could see it with his back to her. "Means I can shower without feeling too exposed. Only downside is, suits don't dry as fast, so the jeans'll have to wait a bit." She walked over and plopped down next to him, nudging him with her elbow. "We're all out of it today, I think," she said. "Don't beat yourself up over it. It's no big deal. And I promise I won't smack you or kick the shit out of you." She grinned wickedly at him, teasing, like she would to any of the boys at home.

The fact that Illyana thought it was a perk that she'd arrived in her swimsuit made Andy bite the insides of his cheeks not to snort. Yeah, man, it was a huge perk; meant that when the sun came the hell out to play and it was hot again, maybe she'd unknowingly put on a show while she was trying to catch some rays, if shit ever calmed down. But then she went on to say that it meant she could take a shower without worrying about being too exposed. That, Andy supposed, was a good point. As was the fact that she'd have to wait a little longer to get dressed because of it.

When she sat down beside him and nudged him, Andy figured that was her way of saying it was okay if he looked; maybe she wasn't body-shy like most girls. Seemed like the hotter they were, the more insecure they seemed. Didn't seem like that was the case for Illyana, so that was a plus. "Yeah..." he agreed with a frown. "It's probably the lack of sun, I'd think," he muttered. "It's depressing being in the dark all hours of the day."

Andy caught her grin when she said she wouldn't hit him for being in the wrong locker room and he laughed dryly. "I'm gonna hold you to that, you know. Verbal contracts are legally binding where I come from," he replied with a smirk.

Illyana nodded. "Not even Limbo was this dark," she said, frowning. It really wasn't natural, the sun not rising. Then again, what about this place was natural? For all she knew, Vas was inside some giant space ship, or a whatever-it-was-called sphere like Lila Cheney lived in when she wasn't on Earth. It might all be artificial. Probably was, given how much the environment changed.

When Andy smirked at her, she smirked back. "There's plenty I could do if you pissed me off that wouldn't involve kicking the shit out of you or smacking you, you know," she said, the teasing obvious in her voice. She ran her hands through her hair, trying to comb out the wet tangles as best she could.

"So, what exactly's up with your car?" she asked.

"Limbo," Andy murmured softly with a sigh. "Sounds cheerful," he added sarcastically. "They should call this place Limbo. Seems like it should be," he finished. He didn't intend to go into any further details with Illyana but the longer he was here, the more he wondered if this really was Hell or at the very least something between life and true death.

Letting out a huff, Andy shook his head and grinned slightly. "Fair, but I'd appreciate it if you didn't illustrate the numerous possibilities," he replied with a wink. When she asked about his car, Andy sighed again. "I dunno, man, the battery just...died. I wasn't even using it, headlights weren't on, kept the radio turned off, wasn't running it... On top of that, it's mysteriously out of gas all of a sudden. Sucks ass," he explained.

"It's about as friendly," Illyana said. She did miss it, despite how she talked about it. It felt more like home than anywhere else; she'd spent more time there than any place else. That was a frightening thought. Limbo as home. She didn't like the idea. "Although the people in charge are more obvious about their dislike for you and their desire to do you harm. Direct is good."

Andy teased her in return, which did a lot for her mood. It was good to just talk to someone, especially after the weirdness of the last few days. She scowled as he explained what had happened to his van. "That is definitely not good," she agreed. "Guess the management decided it was too nice for us all." She looked over at him. "You said you had jumper cables, right? If we can find that other car, we can jump the battery."

"Where?" Andy asked when Illyana spoke about the people in power being more direct. "Here?" He paused. "Because if this shit isn't direct, I do not even want to know what it's like where you're talking about," he said honestly, eyebrows raised just slightly.

When Illyana agreed that the mysterious failure of his van wasn't good, Andy nodded. "Yeah, you're tellin' me. I'm fucking pissed. Elliot and I were really careful about not using the battery or gas too much, so we could save it for if it got too cold and we needed the battery to run the heater." He gave a snort when she suggested the van was too nice. "Yeah, they need to get out more if that's the case. My van, while I love it, is pretty much a piece of crap."

Stretching his arms over his head and leaning back against the locker behind him, Andy nodded. "Yeah I've got jumper cables, but I'm telling you...touching the Impala is not a good idea. It's asking for trouble, believe me," he advised with a frown. "There's gotta be something else. Maybe the bumper cars or something?" he tried.

"In Limbo, you know the guys in charge want to kill you, or use you in their demonic plans," Ilyana said, shrugging. "We don't know what our purpose is here. That's all." Forget the fact that, technically, she was the one in charge right now. Or at least, she was supposed to be. Who knew what S'ym was getting up to in her absence. It wasn't a comforting thought.

"It is nice," Illyana insisted. "It's something familiar from home, it is your home, isn't it? No one else here has their home given to them. That automatically makes it nice. It's enclosed, until today it was mobile, and it had working electricity. Hell of a lot better than any building we've been shacking up in." She smirked. "Plus, the art is way better than what's left in that museum."

Illyana bit back a sigh. "We won't have to borrow it for long," she said, also resisting the urge to roll her eyes. "Just long enough to get your battery going, once we get some gas for the van. That'll take, what, two or three minutes, if we get the cables mixed up? No one will know we've used it." Assuming of course that it was unoccupied when they got to it. And if it wasn't...she was sure the owner would be understanding.

Andy raised his eyebrows at Illyana's response to Limbo. "Sounds cheerful," he said in a low voice, frowning slightly. Sounded, actually, like Cold Oak. A lot like it. "Been there, felt that," he sighed. "It probably sounds like I'm just fucking around but...that's what the place I came from was like. I knew they wanted us dead and the one who lived to be part of their demonic plan. So...shit, sounds like we have a lot of crappy stuff in common, huh, pretty girl?" he asked, giving her a small smile that didn't come anywhere near reaching his eyes. "I've decided our purpose here is to...go forth and multiply," he joked weakly. Then, he shook his head. "Kidding."

With a shrug, Andy looked back at Illyana. "It doesn't suck, anyway; I'll give you that," he responded. "But yeah, it's...my home. I'll admit I'm lucky enough with that." He smiled proudly when Illyana complimented the art work. "Yeah Mags is pretty hot and I definitely don't hate the tiger on the inside," he joked.

Illyana's insistance that they use the Impala made Andy shift uncomfortably. Dean was dead and it was Dean's car. Sam...would probably kill him for touching it and Illyana wanted to transport it completely over to Andy's van and suck the juice out of it. "Have you met Sam Winchester, Illyana?" he asked gently. "If you go by yourself, you might have a shot. If I go with you...if Sam has any idea that I've got anything to do with anything, knowing what I know about what that car probably means to him now? He'll kill me. Believe me," he replied. "But, by all means, borrow it if you want, so long as I don't have anything to do with it. I'm being serious, I'm not touching that car." He'd learned his lesson the first time, honestly.

Illyana looked over at Andy, ready with a 'you can't possibly,' but she held her tongue as he continued to explain. When he'd finished, she sighed. "Well, damn," she said. "That...sounds almost exactly like Limbo. I'm sorry." She reached out and rested a hand on Andy's arm. As he continued, she swatted his arm with it. "Pig," she said, grinning to show she didn't mean it.

She grinned further as he talked up his van. It was good to see him genuinely happy about something, and the van seemed to be the one thing that would cheer him up. All the more reason to get it back up and running.

She shook her head when he asked about Sam. "I've met his brother, Dean," she said, thinking back to what Shannon had told her about him having died. She listened to Andy's explanation, catching onto the what it means to him now, and managed to put two and two together. "Why don't we ask him, then, rather than borrow it?" she suggested. "It's not like we have to use a lot of his gas, just enough to turn the car on and to idle for a couple of minutes, tops, to jump the battery in your van. If he says no, we'll go raid the bumper cars, or something."

"Anyway, before we get a battery jump, you're gonna need gas. We should find out if there's any left in those pumps at the station. The whole need for battery is moot if you can't get gas in your tank." Illyana stretched, raising her arms above her head. Sitting for too long tended to make her limbs ache. She was more used to physical activity than idleness. Staying here was very, very bad for her combat skills.

"Yeah. Put a bunch of psychic freaks in one place and pit them against one another with the end result of the game being a last one standing who's supposed to help run the goddamn demon parade or something and shit gets nasty. I don't live through it," he replied morbidly. "That's what Sam said. He was there with me. With the others. He said I don't make it out, so that's, y'know, awesome," he replied sarcastically. When Illyana smacked his arm and called him a pig, he smirked in spite of himself. "Well, I do have a penis; being a pig comes with the territory, doesn't it?" he joked feebly back.

When Illyana said she'd met Dean, Andy nodded. "Of course you did; you're pretty," he replied reflexively, feeling instantly ashamed for having disrespected the dead that way. "Sorry. Never mind. Anyway, in case you hadn't caught the news, Dean's dead...so..." He paused and gave Illyana the benefit of the doubt, listening when she made her suggestion that they ask to borrow it. "Why don't we just move my van over there?" he asked. It might be easier than trying to talk Sam into asking if they could move the Impala, anyway, he thought.

The point she made about him needing gas either way, though, made Andy's heart sink. "Shit, you're right," he muttered. He tried not to notice the way her muscles moved when she stretched. Andy took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "I might have a gas can somewhere in my mess of shit...might," he replied. Then, he looked over at her. "How long you gonna drip dry, anyway, Yana?" he joked weakly.

That really did sound like Limbo, the more Andy described it. Whoever his demon was, they were very, very like Belasco, from what she could tell. "I'm sorry," she said. She sighed. She knew it wouldn't help, saying sorry. But she felt the need to do it anyway.

"Not all men are pigs," she said, continuing with his joke to try and lighten up a bit. "My brother isn't...wasn't...a pig." Well, there went that. "Piotr was one of the best men in the world."

She gave Andy a look when he commented on why she'd met Dean, but let it slide, seeing that he hadn't quite intended it to come out that way. "I heard on the journals," she said. "I'm sorry." Too many bad things to talk about today.

"If this place had decent towels, I wouldn't have to drip dry," Illyana said, making a face at him. "Room service here sucks." She rose, patting herself down to check on how dry her suit was. It would do, she guessed. "I'll be fine as I am. She offered Andy a hand up. "Let's go see if you've got a gas can, and we can work from there."

At Illyana's apology, Andy shrugged. Wasn't her fault and there wasn't anything that could be done about it. It was what it was. Though, when she went back to the pig thing and tried to defend her brother only to falter slightly, Andy smirked. "You have to say that. And besides, it'd be fucked up if he was a pig to you; he's your brother." And then...it hit him what she'd said after. Why the falter the first time. She'd been changing tense. "Oh shit, Yana, I'm sorry. I'm really sorry." He paused then. "At least you can say that about your brother, though. I wish I could do the same," he sighed.

Shaking his head, Andy looked away and furrowed his brow slightly when Illyana said she'd heard about Dean and apologized again. "We weren't close or anything," he replied with a shrug. "You don't have to apologize all the time, you know," he added and then looked back up at her. "It's just me, pretty."

As Illyana stood, Andy stretched his legs out on the floor and arms up over his head before also getting to his feet, feeling a little like a pussy for taking her hand to help pull himself up. "Yeah, towels would be nice period, actually," he pointed out with a slight frown. "You should change, though...shouldn't walk around in a wet suit. Isn't that how you get, like, female problems?" He paused and then shrugged. "If you want, I know that Luna found packages of panties or whatever in the thrift shop...you might be able to find a pack if we head over."

She suggested they get going to see if he had a gas can and Andy shifted uncomfortably from one foot to the other. He was torn even as he nodded and started toward the door. If they found a gas can and there happened to be gasoline left in the pumps, then she'd want to go to the Impala and pump the juice out of the battery. He was still really uncomfortable with that idea. "All right, onward, and fingers crossed, huh?" he joked feebly.

"Neither do you," she said, offering a smile. "Have to apologize all the time, I mean." It was funny, him telling her not to apologize right after he did it himself. It was something her Sam would do, or Dani, or Rahne. Definitely Rahne. Or...Doug. Definitely Doug.

She helped haul Andy to his feet, glad that this place hadn't sapped all her strength yet. She had to start doing something to keep herself fit, or else she'd lose her fighting skills, and that would definitely be a bad thing in a place like this. She was going soft. She scowled as he mentioned the wet bikini. "Probably not a good idea, no," she admitted. "As long as the pack's unopened, that's not too weird. I guess we can go and see." She walked back around to the side where she'd left her jeans and tank top. "Commando in the meantime, oh what fun. Just give me a sec, okay?"

She slipped behind the lockers and pulled her tank top on over her slightly damp bikini top. That, she could deal with. It was the bottoms that were the problem. Off the came, and got tucked into her pocket for the time-being. She pulled on her jeans as quickly as she could, grimacing at the scraping of fabric against sensitive skin. Sliding into her sandals, she walked back around to meet up with Andy. "Fingers crossed," she said, grinning.

Andy looked back at Illyana and pulled a face. "Yeah, yeah, fair enough," he replied. She did have a point after all. He'd told her not to apologize right after apologizing to her for her loss. Sometimes apologies were too reflexive to stop from giving.

"Dude, I wouldn't suggest it if the packages were opened; that's just nasty," he laughed in response. Illyana went on to mention that she'd go commando in the mean time and Andy cleared his throat, shifting slightly in place from one foot to the other. She probably should've kept that little tidbit of information to herself, Andy thought, because it brought all kinds of mental pictures to him that he had no right to be secretly enjoying. "Yeah, no problem, take your time," he replied as Illyana slipped away.

Andy tapped out a random Jimi Hendrix tune on his thigh as he stood and waited for Illyana to change out of her bathing suit. It was, at best, fairly awkward standing there knowing that there was a hot, barely legal chick a few feet away getting naked. Cut it out. Gay porn, gay porn, gay porn, he thought at himself. No way. No way was he going to let himself go there thinking like that about Illyana. She was fucking hot and she was cool as hell, but Andy had enough on his plate already and, never mind that; she made him feel pretty emasculated most of the time, even if he knew it wasn't her fault.

After what seemed like forever and a day even though Andy knew it hadn't been more than a few minutes, Illyana came back out. He smirked and nodded, holding up his hands, all his fingers crossed. "I'm sure there'll be a pack left for ya," he teased. Then, he canted his head toward the door leading back out to the main area in the gym. "Shall we?"
