Rorschach thought about it, and then nodded slightly. He had been awake and on the prowl without food for over two days, and he was running on a just cause and fumes. Mostly fumes. "Am hungry. Fighting crime in glass cage hard work." And thankless work, since it didn't seem to make a difference whether Rorschach did or not, but he wasn't about to admit that he was starting to suspect that his position as a self-appointed night watchman was futile. He'd never surrender, even in the face of Armageddon. That was just Rorschach.

"Look hungry. Should find some food... know where any is? Perhaps liquor store? Inhabitant... L... dead yet?" Rorschach hoped not, but he certainly wouldn't mourn L's death any more than anyone else's if it was the case. He knew that Merope often comforted him, and so any pain he'd feel on hearing that he was gone would connect directly to Merope's.
