Fortunately for Jim, the darkness was just as much an obstacle for Jay as it was for his target. Fortunately for Jay, though, it wasn't his sense of sight that he was following to find the human. He could hear the other man bumbling around, tripping in the darkness, although it didn't register to the dead man that way. All it was to him was distracting noises that annoyed him. As such, he let out a growl of anger and moved slower as all the racket pulled his focus from his sense of smell.
The rock hit him in the face, causing a sickening crunch as the impact broke his nose. Blood, black and thick for past lack of oxygen, oozed rather than dripped or spilled from the dead man's nostrils and slid lazily down his chin before landing in splotches on his shirt. He didn't notice the blood; he had noticed the collision of rock and bone. In response, he let out an angry growl and moved forward quickly again, arms outstretched and hands opening and closing as if he was grabbing at thin air in the mean time.
