The sound of the door of the Not Quick Stop opening caught the dead man's attention. Jay looked up and moaned again, this time more loudly and needy. He could smell the human just as soon as the door had opened but once he'd cleared the doorway and was out in the open, the smell was intoxicating.
Jay ambled forward more quickly toward the living man. His limbs were stiff and the clothes were heavy with wetness from having been in them when he drowned, so the movement was jerky and labored, but he was able to move himself forward faster than he had been lazily dragging himself before he noticed the smell of the human. "Brains..." he said, or tried to - his face was bloated and tongue too swollen to properly pronounce the word, so instead it came out as a mumbly mess of sounds.
