Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:!complete, chris halliwell, connor temple, day 18, location: in town, the doctor (ten)

Who: Chris Halliwell and Connor Temple, now joined by the Doctor (Ten).
What: Trying to figure out where in time they are, and if Remy's info can be trusted.
Where: Possibly wandering around now; right now they're in front of the Gym.
When: Day 18 - Morning, 8:15am.
Rating: PG.
Status: Complete.

In a way, Chris felt like he was back in the world he knew. This place looked in about as bad shape as parts of the San Francisco he had known most of his life. It was disheartening yet at the same time it perhaps kept him from panicking as much as he could be.

No, the panic seemed reserved at the moment for his new companion, though he wasn't showing it at the moment. But then, they both seemed relieved the supposed human with the red eyes had left them, even if it did mean they were on their own for the moment in this rundown, inhabitable town. Chris sighed and ran his hands through his hair, half expecting to feel a bump from whatever his head had hit when he tried to orb up to the heavens. Don't think about that. Do not think about that. You're no good if you panic.

"What do you think he meant by that? Not being on Earth." He turned his attention to Connor, figuring it was best to keep them both engaged in conversation. They didn't have to be on another planet to not be on the same Earth. Could be a different plane, or a parallel world. There were lots of options. Which made Chris think of something the other man had said. "And what did you mean when you said you'd seen weirder?" It made him wonder if Connor was from a world with magic too. That would certainly support his theory that he might be Chris' unofficial charge. Ignoring the conflict of the years they were taken from.

Connor was giving the gymnasium in front of them a dejected look. It looked kind of bleak, really. Nothing he wanted a part of. To be honest, he was a little freaked out. And that took a lot where he was concerned. This was the guy who'd believed Superman was a real human being and couldn't be convinced otherwise until he was thirteen.

Then Chris spoke, and Connor shook himself a little, physically and mentally, to get the feeling back in his body. No going into shock, that wouldn't help anyone. He'd like to believe he was just dreaming, but his dreams rarely involved strange men with so much detail. Strange women, sure! But not men.

"I imagine he probably meant we're not on Earth." It wasn't sarcastic at all! Connor was simply agreeing with what the red-eyed bloke had said. "Maybe some distant planet? Always knew there had to be others that could support life! Just didn't think we'd reached the technology to get to them yet." Hmm. Think, think. "Course, he could just be flat out wrong. Seemed a bit dodgy, really." Had he seen weirder? Well, yeah. Extinct animals were right up there were magical teleportation, weren't they? Sort of. "I'm on a team back home. A team that...works with time," he said carefully, wondering how much he should trust and not trust. The last time he'd let his friends in on it, he'd been betrayed by their excitement. Who knew?

Absently, he took a few steps closer to the gym, wondering why it hadn't just fallen in. It looked ancient.

Chris couldn't help but crinkle his nose at the possibility they actually were on another planet. Not that he thought it was impossible, but if that were the case it would open up a whole new set of questions in his head and a hearty serving of panic. There were spells to travel through time, even to specific times. There wasn't anything in any book about traveling through space to somewhere else entirely.

"More than a bit. I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him." Which actually, thanks to his telekinesis, was pretty far. "We could be stuck in a parallel world. Might explain the differences in time." Chris cocked his head when Connor mentioned working with time. That was... curious. "Working with time how? Like time travel?"

Connor's cheeks flushed a bit as he shrugged. What was the harm in telling, really? The man could teleport, would a doorway through time really be that surprising to him? Well...maybe. Were Spiderman's superpowers going to surprise Batman? It was possible. At least until they met and combined powers.

"We work with...well, we call them anomalies. Gateways through time, unnatural rips between the time we live in and others. They can go as far back as the beginning of life, though I haven't actually seen that yet. And they can go into the future." His face paled slightly, remembering the creatures that had taken Stephen and had, in the end, become a dangerous threat to them all. When would they come around? Didn't much matter here, did it? "So yeah, I guess you could say time travel. I don't actually move around it much, though. Too risky to go charging into a time period you don't know."

The Doctor was currently storming past the Gym in the general direction of the Carnival. He had work to do. He wasn't even going to pay attention to Thing 1 and Thing 2 standing there looking a little bit confused. Other people could play meet and greet. The Doctor had work. Yes, he had work.

'Unnatural rips between the time we live in and ohers.' He heard that bit and it made the suit clad man stop. He was soaking wet and standing in the drizzle. Then he heard 'Time travel,' and that made him move toward the pair.

"You do what now?" He asked, canting his head and furrowing his brow behind spectacled eyes. "You've been playing with the rift? Bloody Torchwood." Mental note made to yell at Jack.

Anomalies, huh? Well, things could have different names but still basically be the same, right? Right. Although Connor didn't mention creating them, just that they were there. Chris said as much. "Are they organic, like they come about on their own? Or do you create them?" If they were the former rather than the latter they could very well be a little different from what he was used to.

Any more inquiries or comments were cut off by the appearance of someone new, and as he turned to look Chris was relieved to not see red eyes. Not that it ruled out demon but it at least made him not as on edge immediately. Confused, yes, but that seemed destined to be how the day would go. "What the hell's Torchwood?" Sounded like a good name for a kind of creepy parallel world to him.

"Torchwood?" Connor asked, confusion creeping into his tone. "Never heard of it.". He eyed the new arrival, grateful the tall and skinny man at least looked normal. "Now what is this about a time rift? What do you know about it?".

Fortunately Chris seemed just as lost. It comforted him knowing he wasn't the only one who was lost. "What sort of rift?". Cutter would have been fascinated and it took everything he had to remind himself that Cutter wasn't there anymore.

"It's Torchwood," he looked them both over. "You, I wouldn't expect to know what it is," he turned his attention right on Connor. "You on the other hand, talking about rifts and with an accent like that, I'd expect..." The Doctor scratched his head.

"You don't spend a lot of time in Cardiff, do you?" Time Lord scrunched his brows.

"What sort of rift have you been playing with?" He chose the word play quite deliberately, those humans never had any idea what they were doing.

Chris frowned when he was pretty much bypassed. It wasn't that he wasn't used to it happening, it was just that was strange to have it happen when he wasn't trying to discuss a demon or some other threat with the Charmed Ones. But really, it was the whole accent thing that annoyed him. Hey, just because he was American didn't mean that he didn't know anything.

"What's this rift nonsense? Are you talking about something like a tear in time?" Because that was the first thing that came to mind for him, hearing those words. Which didn't make sense to Chris but perhaps different worlds had different rules. There were worlds without magic, after all.

"I'm not playing with anything," Connor defended himself. "And I don't know what a rift is," he added to Chris. "An anomaly is a natural occurence, nothing we were involved in making. We've only just learned how to close them, we've no idea how to open one back up."

He was a little heated up, sure, but the ARC was his entire life. He'd become so obsessed with the people, the creatures, and his work that he knew he'd defend it to the death.

"Besides, the last time I was in Cardiff, I was eleven and visiting my Gran in a home.". As if those thoughts were at all related.

Sorry, Chris, the Doctor was easily distracted when he ran into one of those Torchwood types; which that other brunette could very easily be part of for all he knew. despite his assertion he spent no time in Cardiff and having no idea what Torchwood was, the Time Lord found himself speculative.

"You lot, always sticking your noses in places they don't belong..." He was less amused than he'd been the first time he'd run into Torchwood. Walking around with his special specs and watching as they toyed with those ghost-like figures; it had been exciting and novel until the Daleks and the Cybermen had shown up. Took the Doctor's perception of Torchwood and perhaps humanity down a couple of notches when that whole fiasco had happened.

"Well, you didn't have anything to do with what I call the rift, either; but, you lost still insist on toying with it like you know all about it anyway." Did the Time Lord seem a little angry there? Just a touch. If they messed up a rift he'd have to find a new place to refuel, and chances are that new place wouldn't be conveniently located near his favorite chip stand in all of time and space.

"I'll go have a word with Jack. What'd you say your name was again?" He asked Connor.

He waggled his fingers at Chris, who seemed a bit agitated at the moment. "Hello," he said looking back rather harshly at Chris once more. Night and day that reaction, yeah?

What was that saying... the more things changed the more they stayed the same? Well that was exactly what this felt like. He'd been thrown some place that reminded him of the future he came from, though it did otherwise appear to possibly be a time from the past, and now strangers were "discussing" something like he wasn't even there in a way annoyingly similar to how the sisters could get. Particularly in the beginning, before they knew he was their nephew (or son, in Piper's case) from the future. Chris looked back and forth between the two of them and he felt like Leo should have been standing next to him so he could turn to the whitelighter and marvel at the sisters' talent for acting like they weren't there until they were needed.

Maybe the darklighter poison hadn't killed him, it just sent him to an annoying version of Hell. That would be a new one.

"Hi. So you two come from the same place, but not quite the same since you seem to disagree on terminology? That's great. Who the hell knew so many people could time travel. What's this place?" It all came out in one breath as Chris put his attention on the Doctor, brows raised expectantly. "Because as happy as I am to be here instead of dead, I've got a future I have to get back to. This sure as hell isn't it, and it sure as hell isn't San Francisco from the future or the past."

"We don't come from the same place," Connor assured Chris, though he didn't take his eyes off of the stranger. "I don't know a Jack." He would, in a week or so, when Abby's little brother showed up in his life. But not just then. "And I didn't tell you my name." And for the moment, he wasn't sure he wanted to. He wasn't sure he wanted anything to do with the man in the suit.

"You're from San Francisco?" he asked, turning to Chris and all but ignoring the tall, lanky stranger who was making Connor feel a bit like a spec. "Always wanted to go there. And L.A. Disneyland and Hollywood and what have you. All those special effects labs? Bliss." Keep conversation rolling. Turn conversation away from time travel. He hadn't traveled. Okay, well, he had, sort of. But it was only to help Abby. He'd never do it if he didn't have to, and he refused to do it outside of work. "San Francisco, though... I'd have to see Alcatraz."

The Doctor made every effort not to roll his eyes at Chris. So, he did the next best thing. "You're in Vas Captio, it's surrounded by glass, and currently there isn't a whole lot of food." Right, that about covered it. "Use the journals, mind the weevils, and try and keep your head down."

The Doctor was turning on a heel and already starting to walk away. He had work to do, yeah? "Right, I'll just ask Jack to keep an eye out for you, then. He doesn't like people fiddling with the rift either, I'd imagine." Chucks were leading him off and down the road.

"Be working to get you blokes back to the future.. past.. ehrm, you know; as soon as I can. Right now I have some parts I need to get ahold of first." No, he wasn't asking either of you boys for help.

"Thanks, I figured out the glass part when I hit the ceiling." Christ, no one ever gave him a break. Not in the future he came from or the past he'd just come from -- even if that had started to change once his true identity came out -- and apparently this new place was sticking with the trend. Was everyone in this place a little off? That would get on Chris' nerves fast. Made him wish he had Piper's ability to freeze people just for spite. A thought which was quite unbecoming of one who was part whitelighter.

The Doctor may not have rolled his eyes but Chris did, and in earnest. "You do that. You look very busy." If his help was needed he wouldn't have offered it. Well... not at the moment. Later, when he cooled down he might. Instincts to do good and all. The mention of parts made him think of a machine and a time traveling machine? Really? Chris would take his chances with a rewritten version of the spell he had used twice now. Shaking his head, he finally looked back at Connor, not having forgotten about his new companion. "Alcatraz isn't all that great. Bad vibes." It was more the place a demon or darklighter would want to appear, not him.

Connor, ordinarily so eager to meet new people and learn new thing, let the lanky man go without much fight. "How nice a welcome," he muttered angrily. "First we get some rambling idiot who can barely talk, now I'm getting assaulted by a complete stranger. Can we maybe get a reset button?"

God, he was tired of this place already. And now he was finding out he couldn't get out? Oh just brilliant. He'd rather face raptors than be trapped here. You know, again.

"Honestly, the anomaly research project, it's not like he says," Connor defended himself to Chris. "We're doing a lot of good with it, helping and all. Dangerous creatures can get through them, they've killed people before... We're just trying to stop that from happening.". Connor took a deep breath, trying to control his rambling.

"So, no Alcatraz. How about that Golden Gate Bridge?"

When Connor started rambling he had Chris' full attention. "What kind of dangerous creatures? We talking monsters or dangerous humanoid types?" Because Chris was well aware danger came in multiple packages. And how was it he was coming across people who seemed to have some knowledge of time travel when even other witches didn't think it was possible. Not counting the whitelighters and Elders who thought it was a bad, no good idea.

Chris ran his hands through his hair, a habit of his when he was frustrated. "The bridge is alright. Actually, kind of awesome to stand on top of it." The last was said with what might have been a smirk. "Windy as hell though. That part's a pain."

"They're not monsters," Connor defended the creatures, though he had to avoid Chris' eyes as he did. He wasn't sure the people who'd died facing the animals would agree with that. "They're simply out of their time, they don't know any better. They're...well, they're dinosaurs. And insects and reptiles... My...my friend, Abby, she has a Coelurosauravus...it's a small flying lizard, sort of." He'd had to stutter a bit when calling Abby just a friend. To him, she felt like so much more, but so far? Nothing. "But some of them aren't so innocent and they can hurt a lot of people if we don't get them back to their own points in time."

He rubbed his temples, pardon the pun, in frustration, but smiled when Chris mentioned standing on top of the bridge. "Why do I get the feeling you mean on the very top?" he questioned, glancing up with a smile. "You're not just some standard human, are you?" Most magic do-ers probably weren't, duh.

At the 'd' word Chris' brows rose sharply. "Dinosaurs? In your world, really?" He raked his fingers through his hair. "The time portals aren't that big where I come from. Just big enough for a person to pass though. Not that they're known or anything. It's dangerous to play with time." And boy did he know it.

Chris couldn't help his grin when Connor called him on his comment on the bridge. "The very top indeed. Like I said, windy." After a moment he shook his head. "Not a standard anything. Just think of me as part witch, part guardian angel." He kind of hated the term, but it was the easiest way to try and explain what a whitelighter was to most humans and non-magic types.

"Is it ever," Connor agreed with a laugh. Time was a dangerous thing. Most of the team hadn't believed Cutter's tale about a woman named Claudia Brown who had been absorbed by the changes they'd made in time. But Connor did. Connor believed most anything was possible. One slip in time caused entire people not to exist, and it scared him knowing how dangerous it was. But it wasn't like the tall man had said. Without the ARC, the creatures slipping through the anomalies would wreck havoc, destroy the world they lived in currently. It had to be done. "But yeah, we've had all sorts. A giant mastodon, a saber-tooth cat, some raptors, huge giant centipedes...nasty, those, tried to suck me up, actually. It's kind of brilliant, really."

But then Chris described what he was, and Connor's eyes went wide. Then his face broke into a grin. "Oh...oh that's fantastic, it really is. Part witch and part what? They really exist? Oh, witches I kind of suspected, magic and all, but...wow. That's amazing, it is!" Okay, so in general, this place sucked. But this part? Was fan-freaking-tastic.

"I've only ever seen a T-Rex... at least, I'm pretty sure it was a T-Rex." Chris tilted his head as he tried to remember, rubbing at the back of his neck. Yeah, that had to be what it was, though he hadn't exactly been trying to identify it at the time.

He couldn't help but laugh at Connor's reaction. Not what he was expecting although to be honest, Chris really didn't know what he was expecting. If the guy saw dinosaurs all the time, magic probably wasn't all that weird to him. "Whitelighter, technically, but it's easier to just call us guardian angels since that's kinda what we do. Look out for people." And most of them were more like angels, having been on the brink of death or what have you when they became whitelighters. To be born one was pretty rare and Chris was a little proud of that fact, actually. Connor's excitement was, well, it was a mood lifter, for sure. "A lot of things exist where I'm from that most people don't believe in. But I think you and I might actually have that in common. Well, okay, everyone knows dinosaurs are real, they would just never expect to see one. Like leprechauns and mermaids. So it's a close enough comparison."

"This? Is potentially the coolest thing that has ever happened to me!" Connor declared, beaming. Oh, sure, it was probably a little weird. But Connor would believe anything, really, considering everything he'd seen and done. He'd believe in the Tooth Fairy if you gave him just a few fragments of scientific evidence. A guardian angel type person was really not that far fetched.

"So...wait, you're a whitelighter thing person, got that. But is it like a real angel? I mean...from Heaven and stuff?" Oh, now they were just reaching fascinating territory. That was beyond anything he'd ever thought of. Sure, mermaids, why not, unicorns, he could buy that. But angels from Heaven? Oh. Oh yeah. That was just insanely brilliant.

Chris laughed but it was warm, and the grin on his face was wider than it had been in a long time. The way Connor was acting made him forget all about the strange place and the guy with the demon-eyes and the kind of snooty other guy for now. No one was ever this interested in him. Wyatt maybe. Well no, not maybe. They were. But no one cared what he could do. Demons didn't even target him for any reason other than being a whitelighter. The only person who ever really tried to kill him because of who he was was... well... Wyatt.

"Pretty much, yeah. Heaven, healing powers, all that jazz." Ignoring that he wasn't great at healing yet. But he would be soon enough! "Except my father's a whitelighter, so I was born like this. Most all other whitelighters, they're good people that were given the choice to become one when they died, so they could continue to help others. We don't have wings though, but we don't need them." In fact, the only part Chris missed out on was the whole being immortal thing. Which he figured was probably for the best. And it didn't mean that the Elders wouldn't allow him a chance to continue as a whitelighter when his mortal body did die, someday.

By far the coolest thing to ever happen to him. This was cooler than winning the AstroBlasters tournament. Cooler than meeting his World of Warcraft friends in person. This? Even cooler than moving into a flat with a gorgeous blonde, and seriously, that was up there! He looked human enough, but this new guy? Definitely not. Brilliant! Not only was he meeting a bonafide angel? But he was getting proof that Heaven existed. Hell, he'd been pretty sure of with all the demon talk anyway. But Heaven was one of those things that was always harder for people to grasp. Sad, really, but Connor had never given up hope. And now? Proof!

"So if your dad's a whitelighter person, is your mother a witch? You said half-witch, right? Does that make you like, twice as magical? Can you do healing stuff and spells and things?" The teleporting had been cool, but if Chris could do other things? Oh, he'd win Connor's devotion until the end of time. And, as far as Connor could tell? That was a very long time.

He nodded, confirming Connor's deduction. The grin seemed permanent. "I can make spells and potions, yeah. There's a spell for traveling back in time, actually. That's where I was before I woke up here." Which, if Connor had been following, meant Chris was quite possibly from the other man's time or later. "But there's other things I can do, some that I haven't grown into yet." To demonstrate he turned his attention to Connor's hat, eying it as he put one hand out, palm up. One moment it was on the other man's head, the next the little glowy orbs appeared above Chris's hand as the hat did. Perhaps it was dangerous to be doing magical things out in the open like he was, but he wasn't really too concerned. It was rare he got the chance to show off at all.

Connor was unprepared for what was about to happen and jumped a little when the trusted fedora first left his head. But when he saw the glow in Chris' hand similar to the one where he'd attempted to teleport, he grinned. Sure enough, his hat appeared in the other man's hand a beat later. Connor stared at it for long moment, then suddenly his grin grew even wider. "Wicked."

He thought for a moment, then laughed. "So wait, there's spells for time travel and you've seen an actual Tyrannosaurus. Were you actually there?" Connor sounded a bit like a child who'd just been told his favourite super hero was real. The voice he used dripped with awe and am*zement.

Chris toyed with the hat a moment, then set it back upon Connor's head. Magically, of course. Man, why couldn't everyone have the same attitude about magic that this guy had? Then they wouldn't always have to hide and worry about crazy things like people bringing back the days of Salem. Brushing his hair out of his eyes, Chris nodded. That was one of those 'once in a lifetime' things that were easy to remember in full detail. "It was an accident but yeah. The natural portals, there's no way to know where they go. My dad and I kinda fell through and ended up in Jurassic Park." he said with a chuckle. His smile was a little sad though. It had been nice to actually have Leo around. Made him kind of wish he had told everyone sooner who he really was and why he was there, so he could have spent more meaningful time with both his parents to make up for the lack of it in his future. Chris did his best to shake off such thoughts though. "It probably would have been more cool if we didn't spend most of the time running for our lives."

Sorry, Chris, but few had the adoration of all things supernatural and paranormal that Connor did. Connor watched the X-Files and truly did want to believe. Roswell was merely a step away from being a true story for him. There was little Connor wouldn't believe in. Hell, he was only mad that he couldn't learn the things Chris was doing now. "You know, Jurassic Park is all sorts of fiction," he began, his geek roots coming out, "most of those species wouldn't even have lived in the same era, let alone... Aw, never mind." Curb your tongue, Connor. No need to lose a new friend the day you met him. The red-eyed man and the snobby tall bloke were plenty, thanks. "The problem with messing around with things like that is, dinosaurs hardly know we're not supposed to be a food source," he added with a grin. "It's the main reason we do everything we can not to kill them. That and you never know how you'll mess with evolution if you remove a creature that should have been alive and wasn't." Claudia Brown again. So weird. So very, very weird.

When the other man mentioned the dangers of messing with time -- well, not time exactly but it was basically the same thing -- Chris was easily nodding. He completely understood what Connor was getting at. Blinking out of existence was no fun, thank you very much. "At least it sounds like you guys are smart about what you do. That can make all the difference." Of course, knee-jerk reactions were hard to avoid sometimes, but that was just natural.

"We try," Connor admitted. "It can be difficult, but a lot of research has gone in to doing what we do. No matter what he says," he tipped his head in the direction of the suited stranger, "we do everything we can to keep others safe. We may not have magic powers or anything, but we do what we can."

He grinned, then, smirking at his companion. "These people don't know what they're messing with, bringing the two of us on board. We may not be able to get out of here, but I have the feeling we're not going down without a fight."

Chris smiled as the other man defended what he and his group did. He definitely had passion for what he did, that was undeniable. And Chris could appreciate that. He'd had the same sort of determination when he'd been trying to figure out what or who was going to turn his brother evil. "Oh, definitely not. And there's got to be a way out of here somewhere. It's just a matter of finding it and figuring it out." He was sure the people that were already here had tried, so he wasn't exactly knocking them, but he wasn't the type to give up on something. Especially when someone said it wasn't possible. "This looks like the type of place meant to beat a person down, so we just don't let it. Agreed?" Chris grinned back at Connor, knowing they were on the same page. The guy might not have been magic in any way, but he was pretty decent so far in his book.

Connor offered a grin and his right hand to shake. "Agreed," he said, nodding firmly. This wouldn't be so bad. They were bound to figure out a way out of there. Sooner or later. And until they did, at least Connor had faith that he'd found one ally out of the bunch.

Chris mirrored the grin as they shook, then let his attention turn back to the old building they were still standing in front of. "This place looks like a strong wind would do damage to it. Which does not make me feel good, but I'm betting every building in this place is probably in about the same condition." He sighed lightly and looked back over at Connor. "Though it's probably at least dry inside. For the most part." It would not have surprised him a bit if the roof leaked, given how what they could see looked.

The idea of a building collapsing on them didn't exactly appeal to Connor. He'd already watched the destruction of one structure only hours before. Well. Hours for him. Who knew how long it really was in this place. "It ought to hold up well enough," he considered, walking forward to lean slightly on the wall with his hands. It wasn't going to collapse that moment. He wouldn't rule out soon, but it was something at least. "Better than wandering around like lost kids," he joked, "and honestly, I'm tired of being seriously wet here. It's kind of gross." Right. Because that was the worst he'd ever dealt with. A little damp rain. Ha. "Unless you want to check the rest of this place out?"

He lightly smirked when Connor pushed on the wall, as if the strength of one man was all it took to determine the safety of a structure. Chris couldn't tease him much though; he'd probably do the same thing. The comment about kids made him chuckle and he nodded in agreement. "I'm pretty sure we'll be okay if we put off fully exploring this place until things dry out. Even if we found something it's not going to do us any good when we're soaked to the bone." Okay, he was exaggerating a little, but if they were outside all day they very well could get that wet. And sick.

His smirk widened a touch as he moved to open the door of the gym for them. "You know, you kinda look like a drowned cat."

Connor grinned despite himself, accepting the offered door and leading the way into the gymnasium. It wasn't what he'd expected. It looked like it'd been inhabited. Oh, well, of course it had. Remy had said there were several people, and not an hour later they'd run into someone else. He should've expected it. But after the slightly unwelcome welcome of the last two they'd met, he wasn't really looking forward to running around the gym meeting any more.

"You don't look so great yourself, you know," he said, laughing as he found a corner of their 'new' home. It didn't look like anyone had claimed it, but who knew in such a captive situation. "Why doesn't that magic of yours work to make us dry, hmm? And if it could make me look like Brad Pitt in the process, I can't say I'd complain."

Chris wasn't looking forward to meeting anyone else either. He knew it was inevitable, but he wasn't going to be quite so nice to anyone else who should happen to give the newcomers attention. Unless they were actually nice about, which seemed to be rare, or so he was guessing. Well, Remy hadn't exactly been mean, but Chris didn't trust him so that negated having a good attitude.

He glanced around the gym, making note of all he saw, particularly anything that might be of use to him. One thing he did notice was what appeared like an open doorway off to a locker room, and he ducked in. After a moment he popped back out, managing to find a few towels that weren't horribly eaten by moths, and he tossed one to Connor. Not the best, granted, but there was no sense sitting around being any wetter than they had to. "Sorry, my talents don't stretch to playing with heat just yet." But they likely would, some day. Chris knew well what whitelighters were capable of, and elders for that matter. He was simply never sure if he inherited all the traditional whitelighter abilities or if, because he was part witch, he somehow couldn't use them all. Only time would tell.

Rubbing a towel over his hair a few times, he crinkled his nose even as he chuckled. "Think there's a potion that could do something like that, but they always wear off after awhile. Or have some unsavory side effect usually."

Connor accepted the towel gratefully, even as he held his breath trying not to actually smell it. Ew. It smelled like dirty gym socks, molded shower walls, and three week-old pizza boxes. In other words, it smelled like his first flatmate.

What were the odds he'd meet someone magical? And on the very first day in this place? If he made it home--err, when he made it home, he had bragging rights for at least a year. There was no way Becker could compete with this one! Oh, he'd seen him look at Abby. No way was Connor going to stand for that! Not that he had a lot of say... Maybe if that Brad Pitt potion worked?

"With my luck, I'd end up as Brad Pitt at thirteen. Acne, greasy hair, too many arms and legs, the works. That's just how my life works, after all." It wasn't him lamenting and feeling sorry for himself. It was just the truth! Connor had come to terms with it long ago. His life had those moments, and that's just how it had to be.

He looked around as he rubbed the back of his neck with the towel, taking in the, uh, scenery. "Think it's safe to stay here? I mean...long term? Assuming we're here more than a night or two, we've got to have a spot to crash. And I don't want to impose on anyone or anything, but this place looks as safe as any."

"Yeah, better off not to take the chance then. Who wants to relive their teen years? Not me." Chris was doing his best to ignore the smell too. And hoping it wouldn't take too terribly long for their clothes to dry out. Since they weren't yet soaked to the bone he figured at least by the time night rolled around and they tried to sleep they should be, for all intensive purposes, dry.

He tossed the towel on the floor before he sat down, leaning his back some against the wall. "I think if anyone was really territorial they'd have pounced by now." Chris sighed at the prospect of being stuck in this place any real length of time, but it was likely something he should deal with sooner rather than later. "Though if people have been here for a week or more they probably are starting to get territorial, at least over necessities." While he didn't want to think about possibly needing to use his telekinesis to take things from people if they were hoarding or something, he certainly would. He and Connor had to survive too.

Chris was really so much more practical than Connor was. He was already worried about food and survival supplies. Connor was just thinking about the sort of place they were in and how soon they could get the hell out. It hadn't even occurred to him to prepare to bunker down for more than a day or two. Hmm.

"So what you're basically saying is, we're screwed." Always look on the bright side, Connor! Well, not completely screwed. After all, they had a magic do-er on their side! Theirs. Well, he hoped this bloke would put up with him for more than an hour or two. For one, it wasn't often you met someone who did the sorts of things Chris could. For another, he was part angel. Seriously.

And, on top of that? He found he kind of liked the guy. In a 'you know a lot more than me and are probably ten times more brilliant but you're nice enough to talk to' sort of way. "So...what do we do now?" As if in afterthought, he pulled out the box he'd been lying next to when he'd arrived. Well...a dry pair of socks would be welcome, wouldn't it? He began pulling off his trainers and giving little regard to the fact that Chris was, for all purposes, a perfect stranger.

"Nah, we'll be alright." He wouldn't let them starve at least. They would be fine as long as they didn't panic, or so he figured at the moment. Who knew what the next day would bring. Shrugging at the question, Chris leaned his head back against the wall and stared up at the ceiling for a few moments. "I suppose most people would probably want to go find others that are stuck in this place, but after the two we've already met..." He let his words trail off, pretty sure Connor would understand where he was going with the statement.

Connor didn't even try to hide his snicker. "As far as I'm concerned? They can come to us. This place is just plain deranged and if this is what they're giving us for companionship?" He nodded towards the door where Remy had left them and the tall, lanky man had run to and from. "Yeah, no. I think I'm just fine hiding in the corner till it's time to hunt down food or something. We'll be hunters and gatherers, it'll be just fine. Really."

Right. Or not. Whatever, it would do for the moment, at least. Hell, he could use a nap at the moment, as screwed up as this place was.
