Rose needed time. Time to think, time to get away, time alone. And she wouldn't get that in the museum. She was afraid to get too near the barn. And the carnival would only land her in front of the enigmatic eyes of one John Smith.

So after dropping off her stupid stupid survey with that stupid, stupid idiot, she started exploring the areas she didn't know. John's words about the tunnels had given her an idea. The Doctor had told her that they'd need a safe place for Remus to be confined during the full moon. Though on Earth, they'd have nearly a month, there was no guarantee here, and the sooner, the better. And if there were tunnels beneath them, there were bound to be other locations the locals didn't know of, right?

The impulsive Londoner of course would take it on herself to find said location. She'd taken the boy under her wing, after all, and he was sort of her responsibility. And looking around town would give her a chance to ignore those she wanted to avoid. That list was growing longer by the moment, really. And in a place where there were only so many places to hide away? Hell, maybe she needed that safe place for herself just as much as for Remus.

So she started with the theater, the sight of her earlier snuggling with one John Smith. Snuggling? No, that was a bit too much there, wasn't it? Chatting, yes. A bit of comfort. He'd made her smile. But no snuggling.

She slipped under the marquis and lowered the hood of her jacket, glancing around. She felt a bit like a spy, and Rose wouldn't deny the little thrill that ran through her. It was sort of exciting, the kind of excitement she hadn't had since the TARDIS had landed her back in London. Carefully, she tugged the door to the large building open, wondering why she hadn't ventured inside this place till now.

The vampire wasn't worried, that would be absurd. She was how many centuries old now, and dealt with how many lycans (and vampires) over the years? Surely she could contain one little pint-sized werewolf for a night or so. Well, provided she was at full strength, and given how hard it had been for her to find just a few small animals out in the forest that morning and the previous night, that wasn't necessarily a given. She was fine for now, but she needed some real sustenance, not a swallow or two of blood from a bird or rabbit. Of course, if he truly was rather animalistic when he turned that would make him more difficult to handle, and while a little bit of clawing wouldn't kill her -- provided she kept her head back -- any loss of blood would require more. And hell, he probably wasn't quiet either, and she couldn't deal with a werewolf AND possible onlookers. Scared onlookers at that.

Of course, this was assuming that smug man in the suit hadn't been lying when he told her about the full moon in three days. Where she came from there would still be about three weeks or so until the next full moon, and Remus had said his world just had the full moon as well. But could she really take that chance? Hell, the man could have been lying and there could be a full moon the next night.

She growled in frustration, hating this place a little more by the minute. It all almost made her miss the coven, miss Kraven even, as painful as that was to think. At least she knew their lies and trickery.

It was late in the afternoon by the time Selene came back into town, having spent her time since dropping off her survey searching the forest, both for food and for any place that might help her secure Remus. The forest growth was certainly thick in places, but his claws could likely easily tear through it. It would only slow him down, if anything. So she turned her attention to the first building she came to, which happened to be the theater. She hadn't explored it yet, and while it might not have anywhere a feisty werewolf could be kept, who knew, she might find something that could prove useful for herself. Either way it was certainly nice to get out of the rain. Later she was going to have to find somewhere safe where she could air out her clothes so the vinyl and leather didn't start to smell.

Standing in the lobby, Selene had taken off her coat and was shaking it out a bit when she heard the door open, the sound immediately drawing her attention. She bristled automatically, then tried to tell herself to relax when the person she saw wasn't someone she had already met. It was actually a bit of a relief to see another woman, if she was perfectly honest. The vampire was beginning to think she was the only one, despite what she skimmed in the journals. "Trying to get out of the rain too?" She did her best to sound friendly, though she wasn't too sure if she managed it. Trying to act human was hard, particularly when she was worried about a werewolf.

Rose was slightly startled to find out she wasn't the only one there, but she should have known better. People were spread all over this town, far beyond her comfort zone of the museum. So instead of panicking, she took a deep breath and smiled at the stranger. An elegant woman wearing far too much vinyl and leather to not be a dominatrix, but she was a prisoner just as the rest of them were, so why not?

"Sort of," she admitted, glancing around the lobby. What was she expecting, a steel box to be sitting there all inviting like? Clearly not. But maybe there was a room off to the side with a strong metal lock. Or a stage prop cage. Or...something. "I'm...exploring, more than anything." That was the best she could do without giving Remus away. But then, maybe this woman could help. Didn't she owe it to Remus to try?

"I'm actually looking for a room somewhere," she admitted carefully. "Somewhere secure. You know. In this place, you can't be too careful." That should do it without fessing up her fears for the young werewolf.

At the talk of exploring Selene managed a slight smile. "Me too. Been stuck here... three days now, I think? and somehow there's still places left to explore." She had no idea how long the other woman had been here, but Selene had a feeling she would understand. Everyone seemed to gravitate to a spot and linger there unless forced to move elsewhere. She was no different really, since the vampire had avoiding the town proper to an extent. No one seemed to go in the forest and thus it seemed the safest place for her to hide. And certainly quieter than catching a few hours of sleep on the museum rooftop.

Deciding her coat was as dry as it would get for now, she was slipping it back on as the other woman mentioned looking for a place. A secure place. Selene cocked her head slightly, debating the odds that they were somehow on similar missions. Normally she would have thought it close to impossible, but in this place? "Let me ask you something. This secure place you're looking for... it wouldn't happen to be for someone, or something specific, would it?" She too was trying to be cautious in her words. If she outted the werewolf he might out her... well, no, he seemed too nice for that. But it was still a risk.

Rose's head jolted around to look at the brunette when she mentioned a 'something'. Did she know? Or did she just worry about everyone panicking if they were invaded by wild monkies or something?

Though she was willing to take her chances, Rose knew she had to take this carefully. "Well, you know how it can be in situations where so many people are in danger. You never know...well, what you'll run into, do you? There could be anything in this place. Wild animals, zombies...werewolves, even! I've heard they're real, you know."

That was the best she could do, Remus. Sorry.

Selene almost wanted to laugh. What were the odds, seriously? Though then again, what were the odds of someone who spent all their unnatural life killing lycans suddenly trying to help one? "Werewolves... funny you should say that." As she fixed her coat her smile warmed a bit. This woman was likely human, at least as far as Selene could tell, but if she knew about Remus' condition and was so calm about it as to want to help him keep from hurting others... well, she was clearly something more than the average mortal. "I'm Selene, and I'm going to guess we both know Remus. Unless there's some other werewolf running around that I haven't met yet." God, she hoped not.

Unless she was free to kill it. Then she could handle another or two. She wasn't sure if lycan blood would do her any good but at this point she'd try it.

Relief flooded through her and Rose gave a small laugh where Selene hadn't. "He's a good friend of mine," she admitted with a shrug. "I...well, he lives with me, honestly. And I just want him to be safe. If word got out and he wasn't, then..." Not only were they all in danger, but he was in the worst of all. Panicked people rarely listened to reason, especially when their own lives were in danger. Remus would potentially hurt them all, and she couldn't stand that. The boy was so sweet, and it wasn't his fault he was the way he was.

"He's told you, then?" Rose had the feeling Remus didn't tell anyone he didn't absolutely have to about his condition. He hadn't even told them. She and the Doctor had pieced it together for themselves. He'd only confirmed it. Did he know this woman from before?

Selene nodded at mention of wanting him safe. "I don't want to see him hurt, either. He doesn't deserve it." Which was so very strange for her to say. But, Remus wasn't her breed of werewolf, not really, so she supposed it was an alright thing to say. At Rose's question she hesitated a moment as she thought of how to reply. Selene really didn't want more people knowing what she was than was absolutely necessary, even though it seemed nearly everyone was able to guess it on their own. It made her wonder a little at the point of pretending to be human. "I could figure it out. Where I come from lycans, er, werewolves are pretty common." There, not a lie, but not the detailed truth. Rose didn't need to know she'd been tracking the scent of his blood so she could kill him.

Rose's eyes flew open, but not in surprise. Rather, she was excited. A place where werewolves were common? It was completely unheard of, but fascinating just the same. The Doctor's monologue (and most things with him were) on the different sorts of werewolves rang in her mind as she considered it.

"Where's that?" she questioned, looking like an eager puppy ready for a walk. "Where you're from, I mean. Is it on Earth?" That probably sounded like a ridiculous question to most, but here? Anything went. Rose was learning that quickly enough. "And how can you tell? Can you smell them or do they let off some sort of aura or...what?"

She gave a nod, still not at all used to the idea of different planets and aliens and all that. Which absently made her wonder if this woman knew the Doctor or was from his world, since so far he was the only one who had mentioned aliens or being on a different planet than Earth. "Eastern Europe. I mean, they're other places, but that's where I'm from."

Selene hesitated again, then decided to hell with it. If this woman was so calm in regards to a werewolf then surely discovering a vampire wouldn't be that much more of a surprise. "I can. Smell them, that is. I'm rather familiar with tracking them, actually." As she spoke she didn't try to hide her fangs the way she did normally around non-vampires, although since she wasn't feeding or on the defensive they weren't fully extended, just more like extremely sharp pointed canines in her mouth. "With the wounds he arrived with it was pretty easy for me to tell what he was, even without the scent of his blood. But where I come from werewolves don't attack children. At least not anymore. It sickens me that someone did this to him nearly on purpose." She rambled a little, but Selene didn't want Rose to think she was out to hurt Remus. They were on the same side.

Rose had come to accept a lot of things in the last several months traveling with the Doctor. Gas mask zombies, ghosts, a woman who was basically just a large piece of skin. It was all rather normal by now. She'd come to believe anything was possible.

So the fact that the woman's canine teeth seemed excessively long barely phased her. She'd simply have to decide what she would do if this woman attempted to kill her.

"I'm Rose," she said offering up a smile. "And I think I like how you think.". This way, she didn't have to find Remus' safe place alone. Someone else may be willing to share the burden. "I still can't believe he is what he is. He doesn't look like he could hurt a kitten, let alone me."

When she didn't seem to so much as blink and simply offered up her name, Selene relaxed and returned the smile. "It's good though, that he looks so harmless. People are less likely to wonder if there's something else to him." Actually talking about the young werewolf served to remind her of what had prompted her search for a safe place for him and her smile faded, one hand coming up to brush back her hair. "We need to find somewhere that could hold him as soon as we can. If those collecting the surveys can be believed, we only have three days until the full moon." The vampire truly looked worried. "As much as I'd love to think he was lying, I don't want to take the risk that he's not. Or that it could come even sooner."

Rose herself had been annoyed and yet surprised by the ones in charge. They seemed so calm and relaxed for people behind the kidnappings of several prisoners. It was almost irrational. But what Selene said worried her sick.

"Three?" she murmured, panic in her voice. "But...he just had one." But that had been on Earth. During his original time. As they had no idea where they were or, as the Doctor had pointed out, how many moons this place had, it was possible. Remus could be facing another round of self-inflicting injuries in less than a week. It horrified her. "There has to be somewhere around here. I don't know how strong it would need to be, though. I mean, would a well locked room with a sturdy door be enough, or are we looking for metal here? I just...I honestly don't know." And again, for the billionth time that day, she felt helpless.

"Metal would likely be best." she replied, casting a glance around what she could see of the theater at the moment. It was hard for her to know for sure since Remus wasn't exactly like the type of lycan she was used to. But she knew the type of damage those lycans could do, and how strong they could be. "Though there's no sure guarantee with a metal door because I just don't know how strong he is." Her brow furrowed as she paused. "Don't buildings like these usually have a fair amount of rooms below the stage, or partially underground? Something with stone walls perhaps. That would be a great deal harder to break." And would possibly jeopardize the building's structural foundation if they were damaged, but one thing at a time. If that was the case Selene would deal with it when necessary.

Selene's warning reminded Rose that, as sweet as Remus was between moon cycles, during a full moon he was an entirely different creature. A wild animal that needed to be locked away or else he'd threaten them all. It was hard to picture, knowing him as she did. The quiet, polite boy who shared her sleeping space and often cuddled once he was fast asleep. Really, he was hard not to love. What would she do if that young man turned into a terror who attacked them?

So biting her lip, she nodded and began looking for the stairs. "Most do," she said simply, trying a door and finding an office instead. "They're used for special effects, you know, popping out of the stage, disappearing acts, the works. This theater's ancient, but those sorts of things have been around for ages. Maybe we'll get lucky?" She strode determinedly to the door of the actual seating area of the theater in order to get her mind off what would happen if they didn't.

"Right." She did almost want to chuckle at the mention of being ancient though. The vampire was on Rose's heels, and once in the seating area she was heading down an aisle toward the stage, looking around as she walked. "I figured this place would be the best best, out of them all. Other than perhaps the museum. If it had a basement that might be a possibility, but I haven't had a chance to explore that building yet." Selene really didn't know though. She knew how to kill werewolves, not contain them. And if he got wild when he was changed, he was not going to be happy at all about being caged in any way. That was part of what worried her.

Rose looked thoughtful as she climbed the steps on to the stage and then through the wings. The theater at her school had always had the steps to the area beneath behind the wings, so it was a good possibility this one did, too. There was also often one just beneath the stage, but she didn't know how to access it. An unlit ghost light stood in the middle of the stage, looking somehow even more spooky without the glowing beam.

"I haven't explored the museum much yet. It's packed, there's so many people staying there. But it would be nice if we could find something there. That's where he and I have been staying and a few of my friends are there, too. We could keep an ear out during the night, in case..." She didn't want to finish that sentence, so Rose just shrugged her shoulders, wishing the electricity worked in this place. It was almost pitch black and she was very, very human.

"I wouldn't have thought a museum would be a comfortable place to stay... though I suppose none of the buildings here are exactly meant for people to stay in." Selene took note of what was left of the curtains, the fabric definitely torn and showing signs of age, but there was enough left in spots to have some use. Finding somewhere to sleep indoors certainly sounded appealing after the last three days. When Rose mentioned keeping an ear out Selene glanced over, frowning a little. "If he turned in the midst of you all it wouldn't be pretty. From what he told me he has practically no control over the animal. He's wild. That's a dangerous situation for anyone." Which was why she wanted to find somewhere to contain him for the night. He would be a handful, even for her. She wasn't even sure she could contain him without having her killing instincts kick in. Selene was hoping for the best, but mentally preparing for the worst. If he became too dangerous she would have to kill him, that's all there was to it.

Selene was walking a little ahead, not having near as much trouble seeing in the near darkness though her vision wasn't perfect, but she tried to keep an eye on Rose as well, pausing and lightly grabbing her arm to stop her from tripping over some fallen lighting. "Careful." The vampire kicked things aside to keep a path for them, frowning when they came to the stairs, knowing it was likely only to be darker below. "I almost wish the power worked in this place, though with the condition of everything I'd be worried it might start a fire."

Rose's face darkened at the thought of what Remus would become with the full moon. She hated the idea of her young friend not even being in his own mind. "It's not exactly comfy," she admitted with a shrug. "But it's dry. We've basically taken over the offices. It's not so bad." She considered the consequences of being in the same building as a transformed werewolf who wouldn't even know who they were. "There's several of us," she admitted. "Between the lot of us, we ought to be okay if anything were to go wrong." As it was, she knew no matter the danger she wouldn't be able to stay far from Remus during his suffering.

She'd begun using her hand to lead her way along the wall and offered a small smile when Selene stopped her from tripping. "Somehow I have the feeling I'll be doing a lot of that. A torch would be brilliant right now." And it occurred to her that the elegant lookign woman had seen what Rose hadn't. Completely conversationally, she added simply, "You're not human, are you?"

"Dry is good. I'll be seeking that myself tonight, I think." Vampires couldn't get sick, but she didn't fancy sleeping on wet ground, or out where her clothes could get even more saturated. Tonight at least she would stay indoors. It wasn't as if there was anything to hunt in the rain either. Selene raised a brow, and almost looked amused at the thought of a bunch of weaponless humans trying to stave off a werewolf. "I really don't think you would be. When he's changed all he's going to think about is making more werewolves, and perhaps feeding. You can't talk a wild animal like that down." Granted, Remus had claimed he didn't care about feeding when he was a wolf, but Selene had a hard time believing that with the way she knew lycans.

Selene smiled back though she doubted Rose could see it, and from then on stayed closer in case there were any other dangers in the near darkness. At the question her brows arched, having thought she allowed a good enough glimpse at her fangs earlier. But then, she didn't exactly make it a point of showing them off, nor did she have any idea the types of creatures and beings Rose was used to coming across. In Selene's world, what she was might have appeared more obvious. "No, no, I'm not. Haven't been for some time, actually." she admitted. She might have said more but she caught sight of stairs finally in the dark. "I think I found the stairs. Though it's probably going to be even darker down there than it is right now. Sure you want to go down there?" Selene looked back to Rose, having walked over to the stairs to rest one hand on the railing she found, testing its strength. It wouldn't do good for her to let this other woman get hurt in her company. God forbid someone think she tried to hurt her.

"Oh, I didn't expect we could talk him into or out of anything," Rose admitted with a slight grin. "Probably couldn't even hold him down. But my friends, they're pretty resourceful." Namely Jack and the Doctor, but the others were proving themselves to be kind of amazing, too. "I'm really just hoping it won't come down to any of that. I don't want to think about what'll happen if..." Swallowing hard, she simply followed Selene, placing her hand on the railing and nodding bravely. "Come on, I can handle it." Her eyes would adjust to the dark as best as they could. So what if she was human?

As they eased their way carefully down the stairs, Rose considered what she'd just been told. "So you were at one point but you're not now." She remembered the flash of teeth. "Vampire?" As much as she'd wondered, she hadn't known for sure if it was possible. "Only just found out werewolves really existed. We're...not so common with them in England. Despite that whole Werewolf in London movie or whatever it was called." So really, anything could exist by that point. And she found she didn't really mind. Again, so long as the woman didn't make her into a snack.

And yet she was going into a nearly pitch black basement with her. Brilliant, Rose, really brilliant.

Selene had to smile at Rose's attitude, leading the way down, though she was careful not to move too fast in case the other woman slipped. Thankfully there was nothing at the bottom of the stairs to trip over, just some cobwebs to swat at and duck under. At Rose's guess she nodded, then remembered that the woman likely couldn't see her. "Yes." Selene might have added that she wouldn't hurt her, but the vampire didn't like to make promises she couldn't for sure keep, not after all the lies that had been fed to her. She wasn't out to hurt anyone really, but she would need some real blood sooner rather than later. Taking a few steps, she stared into the darkness, trying to see as best as her vision would allow. In the process her eyes brightened, changing color from brown to a bright blue. While she couldn't see every nook and cranny, she could see far enough to be able to move around fairly easily. "Watch yourself, there's a lot of junk on the floor." She looked back to Rose, trying to keep an eye on the other woman's progress. It felt a little strange, to be looking out for someone that she didn't already know she could trust, that wasn't a vampire or something else entirely, and she tried to shake the strangeness off.

Carefully, Rose moved around by slowly shuffling her feet in front of her as she walked. She didn't comment on her companion's species. Just what would the Doctor say, her shuffling around in near complete darkness with a blood-drinking woman? Probably one of his usual stupid ape comments. Whatever.

"Can they navigate stairs, do you think?" She smirked a little, remembering thinking once that Daleks couldn't climb the stairs because they didn't have legs. Huh. Maybe she really was stupid. "I guess just sticking him down here isn't enough to guarantee anyone's safety." Just not as stupid as she sometimes let on.

"Probably, though I wouldn't think very well." Selene pushed at one of the stage floor supports, testing its strength. A little bit of damage was entirely possible, but she would rather see Remus raging at his surroundings rather than himself. Even she knew that wasn't a good thing. "It might be better than nothing." she conceded, making her way to a door. "If there were only one way out... well, one easy way out... then it'd be somewhere that could relatively contain him." The door was wooden, rather than metal, but the vampire wanted to know what was on the other side. Never know what one might find. The lock was easily broken, along with ripping off the entire doorknob, and she was treated to a shower of dust as the door came open, revealing just a storage closet. It took her a moment to note it though as she coughed hard and turned away, trying to wipe the dust off her face. "Fucking hell. Definitely no one's been hiding away down here."

Rose held her breath, trying not to breathe in the same debris that Selene had. "If we could guarantee he'd have a hard time getting out and make sure everyone else slept inside, in somewhere secure, that might be enough to hold him until morning." Though it was still dark, she'd reached the point in her vision where she could make out dark shadows and recognize some shapes. It wasn't much different from walking around the house on a moonless night. Funny, considering she was walking around now for a night with quite the moon, instead. "Honestly, though? I'm glad to know there's one more place we can rule out as having housed people."

Selene nodded, still wiping at her face a little and moving away from the apparent closet. "You said a bunch of you are staying at the museum. Have any of you found any weapons or anything? I highly doubt they'd have anything genuine in the place, but even a fake sword has to at least be made out of steel. Silver's best of course but steel would slow a lycan down." She paused as she realized she might be painting the wrong picture. "Even if we find somewhere perfect for him you all should still prepare in case you need to protect yourselves. I know he doesn't want to hurt anyone now but once he's changed it'll be a different story, and I'm sure he would hate himself if he hurt or changed anyone."

Selene's words made Rose feel ill. The very idea of having to slay her friend caused her a wrenching nausea that she had to cough to cover. She couldn't do it. If it came to that, it would have to be one of the others. She didn't have the stomach and she knew it.

"I'm sure there's something," she said quietly. "One of those knight suits of armor or something. With weapons." Her tongue flicked across her lip, tasting the dust and wood particles in the basement air. "I don't really know what to do. I'm so out of my league here."

"Like I said, something to keep in mind." And if there was indeed a sword or two, the vampire would have to come by in a few days and snatch one. Just having her bare hands for defense was not making her feel the greatest. Carrying a sword might even remind her of the old days. "You're doing what you can. That's all anyone can do in this place, really. We're all more than bit out of our element I think it's safe to say."

Selene sighed as she paused her searching, leaning lightly against a support beam. "Where I come from vampires haven't killed or bitten anyone in years... least not without repercussions. Synthetic blood is the food source now. Obviously I'm not going to be finding that here." Why she was even telling Rose this, she didn't really know. Maybe because they had a shared goal at the moment, or because Rose wasn't asking her a thousand questions and calling her fantastic of all things. Or maybe because she was easy to talk to and Selene hadn't really talked to anyone in so very long. The vampire didn't have friends, or those she did were now quite dead. This strange place was, in a way, reminding her just how alone she really was.

This whole place was out of its element. It was out of its time, Rose realised, and that was something to consider. Who could manage that? Had they really taken the TARDIS? Even she realised that a Time Lord's technology could prove world-ending in the wrong hands. Were they in more danger than even they realised?

Rose was grateful when Selene changed the subject. In truth, she was still a little anxious about the fact that she was in an almost pitch-black basement with a vampiress or whatever she'd be called. But the fact was? She was fascinated. "How have you been surviving?" she questioned, trying to make out the woman's figure in the minimal light. "I mean...no one here, right?" That was probably rude, wasn't it? Assuming and all. "I...isn't there some other way? Some way you can survive without...y'know, the whole people dying thing?" Yeah, Rose, that was worded so much better. She'd have facepalmed if she hadn't wanted the woman to know just how humiliated she was.

"No, I haven't so much as tried to bite anyone here." she was quick to assure Rose. "I've been doing my best not to think about it actually. Managed to find a few rabbits between last night and earlier today --" Selene crinkled her nose as she was forced to admit it, "-- but it's not much. I'd say it's enough to get by for a little while, but if we have a werewolf on our hands in three nights..." She let the sentence trail off in a sigh, staring off into the dark for a few moments. And she was worried about that. It would likely take all her strength to both contain Remus and, perhaps more importantly, not kill or seriously injure him.

"Where you come from," Rose began, genuinely interested but also a bit worried, "do you attack the werewolves?" Obviously, she had Remus' best interest at heart. She was helping to try and find a safe place to house him, after all. Surely a cold blooded werewolf killer wouldn't do that. Would they?

"You need your strength, regardless." Rose Tyler, protector of all species. Even the blood-thirsty ones. "A few rabbits won't be enough. I don't know how synthetic blood is made, actually, but my friend, he's pretty smart. Got a few of those genius types around, actually. Maybe there's some suitable alternative?" She may not have been the brightest person at Vas Captio, but she was thoughtful at least. "Are there any other ways? To gather blood, I mean?"

That she hesitated before answering was probably all the answer Rose needed. "Yes. It's what I was, well, raised to do. There's been a war raging between vampires and werewolves for several centuries in my world." So it was really quite clear she and Remus came from different worlds. Not that it was any sort of guarantee that she wouldn't end up hurting Remus at some point, but he was a different sort from what Selene was used to and she was doing her best to regard him differently as well.

She had to smile at Rose's remark, though it wasn't long before she was tilting her head rather thoughtfully. "Does your friend call himself the Doctor by chance? Asks a lot of questions and seems to think he knows everything?" It wasn't much longer before Selene started back to the stairs. "I don't think we're going to find much of anything down here so we may as well go back up where there's at least a little light." She was partly thinking of Rose's vision, and Selene waited for her at the stairs, letting her head up first. "As for other methods of gathering blood, I really don't know. I was hoping to find a way out of here before it got to that point but it doesn't look like I'll be that lucky."

Rose couldn't help it. She burst out laughing at Selene's description of the Doctor. "I take it you've met," she said with a grin. It was the Doctor, spot on. Right down to thought he knew everything. Pain that he was. She loved him, despite that. And Selene's words brought back the reminder of Remy and what he'd said that morning. Ugh. Playing in a basement with a vampire was more desirable than remembering that morning.

Carefully, she took the stairs one at a time in front of Selene, feeling with care for each step. "We should probably make sure we check out the museum, too. And there's a church... Is there some sacred ground rule? Something that might help us out here?" But it might also harm Remus in the process. God, this was complicated.

Her new current worry was Selene's health, however. "There's got to be an alternative. Are you going to be alright for a day or two? It may take some time to find it, but there's got to be a way." Unlike the Doctor, she didn't think she knew everything. Rather, she thought she could help everyone.

The laughter made Selene's smile linger, though not exceedingly long. "He was the first person I met here. We were stuck in an experiment together upon arrival." Since they were friends she left out that she'd been on the verge of attacking him when they last spoke because of how badly he was on her nerves. A hungry vampire could only remain so tolerant.

"A church won't bother me, blessed or not. In this place I'm betting not. I don't know if that would bother a werewolf at all. We'd probably have to ask him." Her brow furrowed in thought as she brushed dust off her clothes once they got to the top. "I know it's rather morbid, but if there was a crypt that might work. The walls are usually pretty sturdy to withstand the test of time so they might be able to stand a werewolf for a night." That was an area of the town she hadn't explored yet. Perhaps she really did need to quit spending so much time on the fringe. And she still needed to explore that abandoned house Remy told her about, if it was actually there.

"Blood of some sort is the only nourishment we have, so I don't know what kind of alternative there could be." she told Rose. The woman's concern was almost strange, but... it was nice. Selene could tell that it was genuine, something she certainly wasn't used to. "I don't need it everyday, like how myths like to portray. And we can't starve and die." Well, it was technically death, by anyone else's standards. "I can find a way to manage."

"I know him better than anyone," Rose said of the Doctor. Though she was starting to reconsider just how well she knew the Time Lord. But that wasn't Selene's concern, now was it? So she put a forced smile on her face instead.

"We'll look around the church for a crypt then," she agreed, blinking as she stepped back into the lobby where the light was filtering in through the windows. "This place seems so old, it might have one. It would be ideal, if we found one." Poor Remus. Locked away in a crypt at night? But if it came down to that or having to kill him before he killed them? She knew which option she'd take.

"We'll think of something," she reassured the vampire. "It just may take some time, is all." Hopefully they'd figure something out for Remus and for Selene. Rose was getting pretty handy at taking on impossible causes.

"We should ask him about what precautions he normally takes." Why she was just thinking of that now, Selene wasn't sure. Too much stress made it hard for anyone to think clearly all the time. "How sturdy it is, that sort of thing. Then we'd at least have a frame of reference." They could hope that he wasn't ridiculously strong. Perhaps it was something he grew into, rather than being unnaturally strong right off the bat. That would make things easier on all of them.

While in the lobby Selene shook out her coat, trying to get the rest of the dust off before they went back out in the rain. Rose's hopeful tone drew a curious glance from the vampire, who tilted her head a little. "Why do you care?" Most would say such a remark rather condescendingly or otherwise with attitude but Selene was honestly curious. As far as she could tell there was no reason for anyone to want to look out for her interests, other than perhaps not wanting to end up as food. She didn't get that impression from Rose, not at all, and she really didn't know what to make of it.

That was actually a very good question. Why did she care? Rose considered it as she pulled off her jacket, shaking it out from the dust and the grime. Yuck. And she was planning on going to more dark, deserted places? Here she was doing everything she could to avoid wearing polyester and she was risking the only clothes she had.

"I don't know," she said with a shrug, shaking her hair out and craving a ponytail holder. "I... I don't like anyone to have to suffer needlessly. Especially for something that isn't their fault. Something they can't help. Like Remus. He's just a kid, he didn't ask to be a werewolf, he just is. It isn't fair that our options are basically contain him or kill him when his human self hasn't done anything wrong." Rose Tyler, of the big heart, the domestic matters, and the need to help everyone all at once. That was the woman trying to help the vampire. Even if she didn't always know how, Rose would do anything in her power to assist. "And you... You can't help needing blood to survive. It's who you are, it's a condition of your species. Do I like the idea of offing people to do it? Of course not. But that's not your fault and you've said your people haven't killed to feed in years."

That's right, Rose. Everyone deserved justice. And she was determined to find a way.

Selene listened attentively, even if she didn't entirely understand. What Rose was talking about... it was so, well. Human. Very few in the coven had attitudes like she seemed to have. And it reminded her a little of Michael. He hadn't asked to be a descendant of Corvinus, or have Lucian and his lycans after him for his blood. He hadn't asked asked for any of the chaos that rained down around him and despite all that he had protected her several times when he didn't have to.

"I don't think you're quite like anyone I've met before." Selene finally remarked honestly. "It's far more common to find people that care only about their own skins and to hell with anyone else if they can't be useful." A pause, and then "That's really the only reason I'm alive, actually." Her voice had quieted some, brows furrowing a little as she thought on her own words. It was the bare truth beneath all the lies Viktor and Kraven had spun around her. Everyone had seemed to know, but her. And it rather shook her foundations for existing.

Rose ducked her head and smiled a bit sheepishly. "You'd be surprised how often I hear that," she admitted, grinning a little. "Apparently, I'm a horse of a different colour." It hadn't started with the Doctor, but it had certainly progressed. From the moment she'd stepped in to help Gwyneth in Cardiff, he'd known she was something a bit different. It was because of her that the Dalek had died of its own choosing, and it was because of Rose that Pete Tyler had died a hero's death. She certainly turned the idea of war on its ear, tagging along after him the way she did.

"I know it is. I've seen it happen." Rose took a breath, meeting the vampire's eyes with complete honesty. "I've seen our planet threatened by species who didn't care who or what they took over so long as they were able to live. I've seen it happen on other planets." Her eyes clouded over a bit in memory. "I've seen a man who lost his entire planet and everyone he loved because of war. And I hate it." Why, exactly, she was opening up to a stranger, she had no idea. This wasn't like sharing her deep secrets with Jack in some back room of the TARDIS, or one of her late night chats with her trusted Doctor. But this was a woman, species aside, who'd seen her own share of injustices. Rose could only imagine the horrors she'd seen in her years of living and it comforted her in its own dark way. "And I also know you have to do what you have to do to survive. That doesn't mean I'll always like it."

They did seem to have a common bond, their concern for Remus aside, even if Selene couldn't exactly put her finger on it. But then, she couldn't exactly place why she so easily put trust in Michael either. Why she protected him at great risk to herself and why she cared for him so suddenly. "You're going to have to give me a little time to get used to this whole 'life on other planets' reality." Selene commented with a small smile. "That's not really something I ever contemplated before." The vampire wasn't so sure that she liked the idea, but she could accept it. At least while she was here.

With what Rose was sharing, Selene kind of felt like she should offer something in return. "My family was killed by vampires. The whole bloodline wiped out, except for me. All so they could keep the upper hand in the war with the lycans, er, werewolves. My lord only spared me because I reminded him of his beloved daughter." It was hard to say, when she'd spent centuries believing it was the lycans that had murdered her family. Selene quieted for a few moments, trying to push down the emotions that wanted to spill, a hand raking through her hair. "Surviving's really the best any of us can hope to do here. Or at least that's how it seems."

"In fairness, I never really thought about vampires and werewolves being real before, but here we are," Rose pointed out, her smile a little brighter. "Honestly? I was in the same boat you are only months ago. If it weren't for the Doctor, I'd probably still be working in a shop in London, bored out of my mind. I guess sometimes you just never know what's going to happen."

Her smile faded considerably, though, when Selene told her story. She listened to the tale, and allowed Selene her silence. When the woman finally spoke again, Rose looked up at her with dark eyes. "All the more reason to survive," she said quietly. "You've lost enough. Losing you here? Wouldn't make it worth it. You have too much to live...well, live for," she added with a little chuckle.

Rose made her smile, yet again, and the vampire's face was bound to be sore later as it wasn't a gesture she was used to doing. "I suppose I should be thankful sunlight doesn't bother me anymore, otherwise I'd be in a world of trouble here." The forest was thick but it wasn't that thick. "But you're right. We can't let this place be the end of us. We're both stronger than that." And she meant it. She might barely know Rose, but Selene considered herself a pretty decent judge of character and she could tell the other woman wasn't the type to just lay down and take it.

Here she was, trying to look out for a werewolf and making friends with a human. What was the world coming to?
