"....I'm hanging up now," a voice sounded from the other side of the apartment door. A beat passed before the sound of keys jingling and the twist of a door handle could be heard. As the door swung opened, it revealed the umbrakine svelte silhouette carrying something over her shoulder. When she crossed the threshold and into the darkened apartment, she used the side of her hip to 'bump' the door closed again and dispensed her keys (as well as her cell) onto a table near the door. Noir had a few days off from teaching in Westchester County, so she had decided to relocate back into the city to have a little 'me time'. She'd also come back to do a little sewing as she'd opted to keep all her equipment there rather than back in her living quarters at the mansion. Instead of flicking on the light in the hall/foyer (like she usually did), she moved towards her bedroom more on instinct than anything else.... and she hadn't even noticed that someone was sitting in her dining room/living room area, watching her in silence. The half-Chinese woman felt along the wall just inside her bedroom door and flipped the switch to her light/ceiling fan, which illuminated a very tidily made up room. There was a black, wrought iron, fourposter bed that had off-white curtains draping off of it, two matching wrought iron night tables with glass tops, but was void of a dresser (as she kept everything in her closet) and television stand. However, there was a bookcase stocked with all sorts of literature and two chairs that flanked another glass table near the window. Wren tossed the suit bag onto her neatly made bed and went back out of her bedroom again to grab something from the kitchen. As she passed by the opening of her dining room/living room area, something (or someone) caught her eye and she stopped. There was someone sitting on her couch, watching her through the semi-darkness with the utmost patience. For a moment there, she felt her heart nearly leapt up into her throat, until it dawned on her that it was someone she knew. She took a deep steadying breath before she began to speak. "You should let someone know you're in a room, instead of just sitting there in the dark," she said. "Or make a noise, at least. You nearly scared me to death." By the time she'd finished, she had moved towards the end table near the touch and turned a lamp on, bathing the living room in light. |
