After all the crazy this month, I sort of figured we could all use some silliness to cool down. But this time, instead of "today is [insert random holiday here]", you get a mini-survey! (Thank Google, even my brain couldn't come up with all these.)

I spent most of the day today dealing with malicious hands creeping about the forest, so I'll keep this more brief than I otherwise might.

A year ago today I turned up in this pocket of the universe, had my world turned upside down, and I'm grateful for it every damned day. Even the ones like today. Because at the end of it all, I get to come home to the most incredible person I have ever met, chase around a set of toddlers that can test even vampiric energy limits, and fight off multiple animals for the best spot on the bed. It's more than I deserve, and never taken for granted.

Today is Memorial Day back home, which I don't really feel qualified to speak on (take it away, Steve). But I looked it up, and it's also Put A Pillow On Your Fridge Day in the U.S., which is supposed to bring you prosperity and good fortune.

So, Lena, Tasha - leave my pillow where it is. It's not just me being messy. Em, I'm about to do the same at your apartment, you're welcome. 💜

A heads up for those with some younger kiddos that the library is doing a few fairy tale based comedy plays over the weekend. They're at 10:00, 1:00 and 3:00 both Saturday and Sunday in their little auditorium. Snacks will be provided.

I'll be going to Saturday at 3:00 with Lucas if anyone wanted to join us.

As is my right, I wanted to be the first to say not only happy birthday, but happy first Vallo birthday, to my husband. You drive me mad at times but I can't imagine my life without you. I truly wouldn't want any other life than the one I have with you and Harry.

This is Steve. I've got eyes on what I believe may be the source of our mushroom invasion. There's a massive leader-type, it looks like the underlings are feeding it and it's spawning more. Something of a colony occurring here.

I'm transmitting my location, recommend organizing strike teams. Expect maximum resistance and a cave outcropping, so we may be able to use stronger powers without risking the tree growth.

Okay, what the fuck is going on? Has anyone figured that out yet? Because I just spent far longer than I'm prepared to admit as a potted plant of all things until my raven pulled a leaf off and I went back to normal.

I'm just saying: I'd have preferred the raincloud people had yesterday.

I haven't met many since I arrived here, so where does one meet others here in Vallo? I'm not the bar kind and I'm not the best at dancing. I prefer moonlight, books and good conversation. I realize this sounds like one of those dating ads, but I assure you it's not. I'm just looking to meet new and like-minded people.

I'd like to register a complaint, Vallo. On account of this whole being late thing which I absolutely hate.

Ten years ago I was very dead and stuck on the Other Side, just two years after finding out I was actually a witch, not thinking I'd make it past 18.

Ten years later I'm now:

- Posting in a public network to remind people that an entire city is about to decent in Halloween and Samhain insanity, it's kind of a big deal around here. Some witches and others with magic look at is a New Year, and the veil between the living and the dead is at its thinnest. Expect a lot of celebrations from your local covens. (Similarly, Halloween. Get your costumes now before you're scrambling to find something last minute like the majority of the population. Just don't buy pieces of your costume from actual magic shops. That's how you get cursed.)
- Still trying to convince my son that "Pants" is not the best Halloween costume. I'm still losing.
- Getting a second chance with my favorite person, who I actually used to hate at one point.
- Wondering how Caroline did what she did as I'm trying to get my own grasp on Thurvishar's job as Magic Lead.

Time is weird.

I don't know about anyone else's world, but it my world the "feud" between vampires and werewolves comes from both species being labeled closer to "predators", and other species perpetuating the stereotype that we're brutish assholes all the time compared to them. The two physically strongest species in a showdown.

But now I'm curious what feud's exist between species in everyone else's world. Inquiring minds want to know.
