Hello. It feels odd to introduce myself as many of you already know me, but I am Essek Widogast and I'm here with Caleb (also) Widogast. If my husband's perfect recall can be relied upon, which I am willing to stake most everything on it, the versions of us that you know normally should still be deep within the Aeor that was brought to Vallo, being very much themselves while surrounded by ancient Exandrian magic and technology.

Which is to say, and I'm doing a poor job of getting to the point, we are from a different timeline and time. A few hours ago, we were in 2033 within a branch of the future that is hopefully not your own. The Temporal Concurrence and the aligning of the leylines does, it seem, allow for some otherwise so-called impossible magic when one(s) puts many months of work into entirely too many sleepless nights their wizard mind(s) to it.

I cannot promise to keep a long story short as there are many moving parts and I tend to be accidentally verbose in the best of times, but I think many of you may remember the attack from Interitus that happened in August of 2021. He was not as gone as we had all hoped and is now wreaking havoc upon my and Caleb's timeline. Thanks to the concurrence and the influx of magic, our intel is advising that he is planning on ascending beyond his current form into something akin to godhood. Should he do so, his powers will be made more or less limitless and there will be no stopping him from traveling freely within timelines to destroy every version of Vallo, as has been his will all along. Our version has just been practice for him.

As for why we have broken through literal time and space to visit the past, we are seeking aid. This has already been discussed with the DOA, but there are a few things that we are here for specifically.

First, Interitus is using a simulacrum of sorts as a power focus, which has allowed him to bide his time in our world and eventually build up enough power in secret to take over. We believe that this simulacrum had already arrived in March of 2023--in February, specifically. We do not know where, but our hope is that you fine people will be able to locate and destroy it, specifically at the height of the concurrence to not give away our plans.

Second, Caleb and I are in search of a very specific tome from the Great Library. We unfortunately do not have access to the Library in our time as you do now, but we believe that the tome we are looking for has information regarding locating the object needed to pierce through Interitus's magical defenses. If any librarian friends are willing to volunteer to help with that, as we do need this before we return to our time tomorrow, it would be greatly appreciated.

Finally, and I realize that this is the largest ask of them all, a vision from one of the Prigany psychics has shown us that there are specific people in the future that aid in the efforts. Our understanding is that these people come to us from your timeline and travel to our own. We have a list of those people, who I will be filtering separately with more information. Please know there is no expectation. We are not here to force anyone to help, regardless of psychic visions.

This is long and a great deal of information for a Monday, I understand. Caleb and I are here to answer any questions that we can--at least those questions that do not pose more harm to the timelines than our being here already might.

I'm not sure what it says about me that my Vallo experience so far, aside from spending time with family, has mostly revolved around food but I guess there's worse things. Highly recommend the Jjambbong at Angry Tofu though. About as spicy as my Ma used to make it. Which is saying something.

There is little more humbling than attempting to look up local history, finding yourself bereft of any context, and discovering that you need to start in the middle grades section of the library. I was able to move through it quickly, but my ego may never recover from the initial shot.

So my life partner, Matt Donovan, has a birthday coming up next week, but he's been stuck taking care of me lately. So I'm going to pull myself out of this funk I've been in and make sure he has a great birthday.

So with reports of the turkey hoards (things I never thought would be a problem for 500, Alex?) if anyone is hunkering down inside and needs anything - just leave it here or shoot me a text. I'll make sure it gets to you. I'd recommend the sticking inside personally if aggressive turkey hoards is out of your wheelhouse.

ETA: If you need someone to watch after your kids while all this is going down, Regina has offered up her house. It's protected against the turkeys and I will vouch for her fantastic skills. As well as teleportation if needed.

So I won this free yoga class taught by forest elves and I thought that would be the worst part of my day because they bend in ways no mere mortal can bend.

Then really angry turkeys interrupted the class and I think one of them took my gym bag with my phone inside so today has just not been, you know, great.

Is this an essence of hobbit phoenix side effect? Becaue I did not sign up for this acid trip down the rabbit hole hidden in the wardrobe to a multiverse of nerdville. At least it's not the '80's again.

Gansey and I will be hosting an information session/meet and greet on Friday afternoon. Usually when people come in the way we're used to we get a chance to sit down and go over a bunch of stuff. Since this was sort of outside the norm we figured this might be the easiest way! If you feel like you've got a handle on everything that's great, you're definitely not required to show up, but we hope to see you there. We will also have some staff on hand to help with getting any credentials and id's sorted that you might need too. As well as some snacks and coffee.

For anyone who is new, or newly interested, I wanted to remind everyone about the Outlander Coven. Vallo itself is populated by a number of covens, some big, some small, with various ranges of specialties. The Outlanders have our own Coven, and we come together to talk magic, teach, learn, and forge connections with the local covens.

Obviously, it's not required for anyone with magic to participate. But if anyone is interested, you're welcome to check it out.

On that note, Imbolc is on Monday, February 1. The Covens will be celebrating the beginning of Spring. Expect some big bonfires to celebrate the returning of the sun. There will be food, magic demonstrations, and likely some weather divination happening. Think of it as a magic groundhog day to find out if winter will last or if spring is around the corner.

It's also a time for spring cleaning, so if you have anything that you're looking to get rid of, consider bringing it to the celebrations. The covens will collect donations for charity.

There's also going to be something like a polar swim early morning on Monday, jumping into moving water to cleanse and purify.
