Dan rolled his chair over to the counter, grasping his clipboard again so he'd remember to take it with him; he balanced it in his lap, fingers twisting his wedding band around and around. Something he did when he was thinking, or feeling particularly contemplative.
"People can harbor all sorts of things in their head - our minds are infinitely complex," he said, a little smile twitching his mouth upward. "So yes, I think it was a piece of that - dark entity, or whatever it was. Something so powerful is bound to leave a bit of itself behind, especially when you died with it. It knew, I think - "
It was an errant feeling Dan had picked up on. "That you were going to end up going out with it. Something that omnipotent just...sees beyond the future. But you were right - it doesn't get to come back, and you do." So maybe whatever brought Eddie here, whatever brought them all here, it was even more powerful than a light borne of hatred and hunger.
