The fact that David said the words back was nice - gave Alexis one of those warm and fuzzy feelings, like chocolate chips melting in the center of her chest. They both had problems saying those things, sometimes, because their family was just not like that - but after sharing a room and building their relationship back up again, it all became easier.
It was amazing, the clarity that could come when your fortune and all the bling you once had got pulled out from under you, leaving you with nothing of value. Or maybe it left them with everything of value, was the point.
"Maybe like - a month or two?" she hummed, curling up on the couch with a small throw pillow. "Once I found a job it got easier, it gave me something to do. But weird stuff happens a lot so I don't think I'm ever fully used to it but I try to roll with stuff best I can."
David would too. He'd have the Apothecary and he'd make it fabulous, and just be his great self - like, strong and pushing through because he always did, even if he was a snarky bitch about it sometimes. But that was his charm.
