The Jedi Temple
WHO Siri WHERE The Tython Jedi Temple WHEN The disappearances of Ahsoka and Obi-Wan
WARNINGS Grief
The Temple disappeared into nothingness, a mirage fading away.
Siri could not sleep.

Insomnia was usually rare; a Jedi learned early both how to clear their minds and to sleep when possible. They could also go long periods without sleep overall; unpredictable missions dictated their lives. But this was different. As if only waiting for her to close her eyes, the Force rippled with vague alarm, subtle warnings. Despite knowing the ebb and flow of the Force so well, she couldn’t decode what it was trying to tell her. Restless, she tossed and turned, then rose to pace her room, another action rare for her.

Meditation did not help; she grasped at clarity as it slipped through her consciousness like water through her fingers. Frustration and worry made her anxious, and finally she gave up, heading outside her room in her plain shirt and loose sleeping pants. She paused outside Obi-Wan’s door, putting her hand on the panel, but she could sense easily that he was asleep and untroubled. It would be a simple thing, to slip in and wake him, to seek both comfort and resolution, but they were taking things slow. If she found something more concerning, she would wake him then.

Nothing broke the silence of the Temple. As Siri walked, she tried to let her feet choose the way, thinking perhaps her subconsciousness needed to work out what troubled the Force. Her wandering almost immediately took her to the front entrance, so she stepped out into the darkness of the forest. The ground cold under her feet, she moved forward without flinching at stones or uneven ground, as the Force seemed to pull stronger. Stronger still, the further she walked from the Temple. Her lightsaber felt likewise cold in her hand….when had she taken her lightsaber up? Siri stared down at it, not recalling picking it up before she left her room. What drew her outside?

Suddenly, her whole body shook as the Force seemed to scream, it’s vague warnings now klaxons in her head, and she was already in motion, turning, too slow, too slow, the air as thick as tar around her, even though she knew in her head that she moved quickly. Time drew out in terrible, fateful dilation, as her hand reached towards the Temple, her lightsaber forgotten and discarded on the ground as she tried to run back. Her own scream bubbled up from her throat, no, no, even as the edges of the Temple flickered, a hologram losing signal, the picture uneven and hazy. It retreated from her, no matter how hard she tried to run towards it, and with a strange, metallic hum, it disappeared into nothingness, a mirage fading away.

Stumbling, she fell, hard, knowing from a distance that she’d scraped skin from her hands, from her elbows, but it couldn’t touch the pain welling up. No one existed near enough to hear, but she knew her voice came out in a keening sound, as she doubled over and wrapped her arms tight, the loss intense and sharp. First Luke and Han, Meetra, now Ahsoka. Obi-Wan. He was gone, as lost to her as if he’d joined the Force. More so, because she wouldn’t be able to feel him in the Force here, not on Vallo; he existed on another plane that she could never touch again. Why did she have to continue to live, in a world with this much pain?

The silence of the night bore down on her as she knelt there, vainly trying to feel them all in the Force again, even a tiny sliver of connection. But nothing reached back, no inkling that they’d ever existed at all. Stranded, no Temple, no Obi-Wan, no Ahsoka…..

She was alone.

(OOC NOTE: the Jedi Temple has disappeared and is no longer a location.)
