Sam had been sleeping for a while now and given that Dean had gone through the soulless thing before, he only hoped it meant his brother was in the process of getting his soul back. He had checked on his brother shortly after waking that morning and found him to still be fast asleep. Dean made sure that he was still breathing before he left the room and headed into the kitchen. He whipped himself up some breakfast and began the day. It wasn't until after he had gotten dressed that he saw the notifications. Alec was gone, Man-wol was gone, and most importantly, Mary.
He looked down at the screen for what felt like an eternity, hoping maybe it was a mistake, but it wasn't. His hands moved to rub briskly over his face and he inhaled deeply, shoving the phone into his pocket. He could only hope that Sam wouldn't remember her having been there at all, as he didn't want to explain how she had been here and where she had gone. Dean walked slowly to get bedroom and pushed the door open slowly.
He didn't know why, but he decided to sit down on the bed and just stared at the wall for the longest time, deep in thought. Tears spilled from his eyes and he continued to wipe them away. It wasn't until he heard someone shout his name that he finally snapped out of it. Dean lifted his shirt and wiped off his face belt he stood from the bed and went into the hall towards Sam's room. "Sam, I'm coming!" He called out in a hurry and turned the corner to see his brother standing there in confusion.
"Sammy, hey, you're awake, good. How are you feeling?"
