The Meadery.
It had taken Valk a little bit to start navigating the city, but once she did, she was happy to explore. It was a little hard to still wrap her head about, she’d been Queen the other night and now, she was Queen without a kingdom and it was a little weird. Though, when push came to shove, this wasn’t all that weird after all.
Sakaar had been weird. Falling through the void post-Hela was weird. This was just one more weird. That was all, and that was something she could manage. She had messaged Carol saying if she wanted that beer, she was buying, and leaned outside waiting for her to show up. Valk wouldn’t admit it but she was desperate for friends, she’d spent so long without them then Loki had died and Thor had taken off and she was alone again.
She didn’t like alone.
Carol was adjusting as well as she could to being whisked away to a strange universe. In comparison to her time on Hala, Vallo wasn’t bad at all and she was having fun meeting new people, even if it was a little weird to meet people who knew her in the future. At least they knew her though, even if she didn’t know them, and she figured she was easy enough to get along with, as long as you weren’t trying to hurt someone else.
When she got the message from Valkyrie, she was happy to make plans to meet her, terribly curious about the big battle that the woman had mentioned. Plus, she’d been wanting to check out the Meadery anyway.
“Hey,” she said, greeting the other woman when she entered the bar. “Nice to officially meet you.” The network didn’t count.
It was hard to miss Valkyrie, she had already adopted a regal stance in everything on top of her confidence. She looked like she fit in wherever she'd go. Which was good, because this place was going to be an adjustment.
"A pleasure to meet you, too. Strange place, but so far, it isn't a bad place to be right?" She laughed a little, sharp and hinting at a dark humor.
Her eyes looked around, marking exits and ways out, before focusing back on Carol. She already liked the Meadery, it felt comfortable.

“Nice people, good beer, can’t really complain,” Carol said. “Haven’t really stayed in one place for a while, but there’s a lot of interesting things here to explore at least.” She wanted to check out Atlantis at some point since the idea of an underwater kingdom was kind of cool. It would be a lot different from space, she figured.
She noticed that her companion noted all the exits because she did the same. It was habit at this point considering that she tended to make a lot of enemies across the galaxy. Some deserved and some unfortunate holdovers from her time with the Kree.
“So, let’s order some mead and then you can tell me about this battle.”
She pushed her hair back over her shoulder and nodded. “That is a good, valid point.” she smirked a little then nodded. “It is vastly different from New Asgard, or Sakaar. I am not sure what my plans will be, but there seems to be much to explore, and plenty of places to settle. I am sure I will figure something out.”
Valkyrie nodded. “Yes - that would be a good start. A good mead, and a long story. I hope you don’t mind knowing a bit of your future, then.” she said after a second, she didn’t think that was a problem, she would want to know herself.
All things considered, Carol couldn’t see any reason not to know a bit about her future so she shrugged and shook her head. “I don’t think it matters,” she said. Since there was a battle involved, she was going to assume she hadn’t done something weird, like getting married or having babies. She might not want to know about that sort of thing. But kicking ass? That was cool.
She looked over the available options and decided what she wanted to order, waiting for their server to come to the table.
She settled in, relaxing, even as she paid attention to her surroundings. She liked Torunn already but she didn't blindly trust that nothing was going to bother them. She made her choice then ordered when their server came over.
"You hear about Thanos or was he not a thing for you yet? Twenty years, Midgard time, I was on Sakaar, and time moves differently there so I'm not sure how that works out for you."
After placing her order, Carol shook her head. “No, Thanos doesn’t ring any bells,” she said. If she had heard of him, it didn’t leave much of an impression since she couldn’t remember. “I’ve mostly been focused on fighting the Kree and protecting the Skrulls.” Ever since learning the truth about the war between them and how she’d been manipulated into fighting for the wrong side for six years, she felt like she owed it to the Skrulls to help them as much as she could. Plus, she really liked Talos.
“I assume he’s some kind of intergalactic threat though,” she guessed.
She nodded, "He was. He was collecting the Infinity stones to try and halve the population of, well, everywhere really. He succeeded. Half of everyone in the universe was wiped out." She sighed, "in the end, the Avengers fix it, reverse the death he'd brought then I lost track of how many of us gathered to defeat him. But you were there."
Valkyrie ran a hand over her hair, launching into further details about the battle, as much as she can remember, which is much because it is epic, and part of their history.

Carol had heard mentions of powerful stones during her travels, but didn’t know a lot of specifics about them or what they did. Wiping out half of the population of the universe was beyond anything she could have imagined though. She listened with rapt attention as Valkyrie described the battle that they’d fought together, along with hundreds of others from what it sounded like.
When she finished, Carol had one question. “The Avengers?” she asked. “What is that exactly?”
The drinks arrived in the middle, and she didn’t bother taking a drink until she was done. She tipped her glass back and sighed happily as she took a drink. It tasted good. That was nice, and was a reminder of home. “A group of superheroes from Midgard - I don’t know the exact origins, I didn’t have much interaction with them until I captured Thor.” she laughed.
“Tony Stark, Thor, Natasha, Banner, Barton and Steve Rogers - they were the ones I think that were original.” she had to think about what Thor had told her, and what she’d known about them was pretty minimal. “I didn’t really interact with them much back home - only really at the battle.”
“Interesting,” Carol said. “That was my call sign when I was in the Air Force.” She wondered if Fury had anything to do with the name or if it was some kind of weird coincidence.
She drank more of her mead and then asked, “What do you mean by capturing Thor? Isn’t he a god or something?”
"Interesting." She noted, and wondered if perhaps that had anything to do with it. Maybe, she wasn't knowledgeable enough to know.
Then a slow smirk, "If you want to be technical, so am I. But on Sakaar I was capturing people to use in a fight ring, I had tech help. He got dumped on Sakaar, and I had no idea who he was. I'd been gone from Asgard for a very long time by then." She smirked, "it wasn't it finest career."
The stories that Carol had heard about Sakaar meant she wasn’t terribly surprised by Valkyrie’s explanation of what she’d been doing there. “So it sounds like you’re a lot older than you look,” she said. That was also interesting because given her abilities, she expected the same would be true of her in the future. She was nearly indestructible and didn’t think she would visibly age.
“Have you decided what you’re going to do here?” she asked. “I joined up with the DOA and got put on a Defense team.”
"I am much older than I look. I am much older than Thor." She said with a small smile, "plus time on Sakaar is a funny thing, I've lived a few extra thousand years there and only missed about fifteen hundred in Asgard."
She shook her head, "I haven't yet - though that really sounds like something that's up my alley. I'm not good at sitting still, and I don't need to be a queen here. People are a lot friendlier than I expected, too."
“People are very friendly here,” Carol agreed. It made her a little suspicious honestly because it wasn’t anything she was used to. “And I don’t think I heard that about time on Sakaar. I think I’ll leave it off my list of planets to visit.” It really didn’t sound like her kind of place anyway.
It was nice chatting with someone who was from her world though, even if they didn’t really know each other back there. Or at least Carol hadn’t met Valkyrie yet, though it also sounded like they didn’t really have a chance to get to know each other in the future either since they were otherwise occupied with the battle.
"Sakaar is a place not many people come back from. It's the end of the universe, trash heap and utterly miserable." She drained her mug and sighed.
She was glad for someone she could talk to. Valk was not the most social but it was nice to try to be. This place was a chance to stretch her legs. She wanted her people safe but they would be. She was a good leader. But she also deserved a chance like this.
