The fault lays with me as I didn't pay much attention before, thinking I wouldn't need the information, but I'm looking into elementary schools. Preferably ones with other Outlanders or friendly to a child that is otherly like her parent.

Also how are the unicorns with children? Figured I'd ask in case I have to soften the blow with ice cream for breakfast if they're not friendly.

Claire's registered for kindergarten at one of the schools in the city. I can send along the info.

And she loves the unicorns too and hasn't had any issues. They're pretty friendly. But ice cream for breakfast will probably go over well no matter what.

I'd be much obliged. I figure she won't need much time to adjust as the adults do so I should start considering the wheres and whens. I'm thinking correct that the DOA school is for teenagers though? Didn't want to seem like I was dismissing it right off.

That's good to hear. She caught sight of one yesterday and her heart's already set on meeting one. I'm glad I won't have to disappoint. That's something we have in common though. Never a bad time for ice cream.

No problem. Kids are definitely resilient, it's admirable. And the DOA education program does seem to be more like GED curriculum. I don't think they anticipated so many youngins showing up here, but there seem to be a lot lately.

Agreed about the ice cream, though I can't say that too loudly. How old's your daughter?

I can't say as I blame them. I wasn't expecting Willa to show up here either. Did your daughter arrive with you or come separate?

As a point to ice cream, it does have milk and eggs. Calcium and protein. She's 5. A few years older than when I last saw her but by all appearances I've been keeping up all right back home.

She's my fiancée's daughter, but no, she definitely showed up a few months after her mom did. Luckily we were right there when it happened but it seems like some other kids just kind of blip in randomly and then are found. The mechanics of this world are wild.

Oh, right, true. And fruit sometimes too, in ice cream? Claire's five also, if you want yours to have a friend the same age, in the same class.

Willa. She arrived yesterday morning. Five now instead of one and a half but she don't seem surprised by any of it. Sorry I didn't let you know earlier. Spent most of yesterday getting her settled.

What age do they typically start schooling, here?

I can confirm that unicorns typically love children - the good-natured ones, especially if they keep sugar cubes or apples on hand.

I have not the faintest I'm afraid. Back home it was usually 4 to 5 years old with the option of nursery or prekindergarten before that.

That settles it then. If we make it through clothes shopping in one piece, I think we'll pick up some apples and she can finally meet a unicorn.

Ah- Interesting. I've got a few years to go before that, but I suppose it's something I should be researching.

There's good incentive for you! I can't promise the unicorns will like you, for the record.

That might be the right idea. Turns out some of those schools are highly competitive and have wait lists and whatnot. That was a new one to me.

I've been called an asshole a fair amount in life that even not having met one before, that doesn't surprise me.

Like what kind of otherly? Cause if it's at all can do magic related there are witch schools that she could go to.

Government - not sure how they think most days - has us classified as 'extranatural' and witches as 'supernatural' but we're both born with it so who knows. I think she's got a few years where it won't be a big thing yet but it's good to know there's places around that know the subject.
