It sounds like a good idea to me. Even if they turn out to be not that friendly in the long run, we'd still have gotten a better sense of them for now. And it's always better to play nice with locals, having them on your side can always turn things in your favor if you need a hand later. Maybe have something to offer them too, when they come. A little bundle of potions our group can put together or something else they might not be able to do on their own.
