She had absolutely no idea that one could enter from a different point in time and had always assumed this was the same Lucifer who had said she was his first love. Chloe had been hesitant to kiss him properly, unsure if maybe he had moved on from her and found someone else. Which, would have made the situation entirely awkward. After seeing him standing there, she found it difficult not to embrace him in such a manner and had thrown all caution to the wind.
She saw the way he looked at her, and then he spoke her name, Chloe, instead of his more formal greeting. She didn't want to let go of him, afraid he would leave again, despite her begging him to stay. He had finally revealed how he felt about her, the one thing she had truly desired for so long, and then he was gone. She remembered standing on the balcony for at least an hour after he was gone, hoping that he might return, finding it difficult to accept he was gone. Chloe knew that he was returning for selfless reasons. He was trying to protect her and the rest of the world.
After their first case together, all she had wanted was to see him happy, with or without her. Maybe she should have been a little bolder about her feelings, and expressed them sooner. Instead of waiting for him to make a move. Despite her confident nature she had always doubted herself, conflicted over his hot and cold reactions towards her. But now, with the way he looked at her, she felt much more at ease.
Chloe accepted his hand and moved with him towards the bench. "Well, I was in the middle of a crime scene, Ella was telling me about the victim, and suddenly, I was here. How has it been decades? You haven't even been gone a year?" She recalled him once mentioning that time moved differently in Hell, but she never imagined the distance could be so vast.
