Since he asked about a probing cane, I'm going to assume that means he is vision-impaired. And making an advanced cane is probably more friendly than offering bionic eye replacements. Which really only work if it were a problem with the eyes or nerves and not a translation issue in the brain, but that's more a medi--- not what what you were asking. Which leads to guess he probably knows braille. So if I make a tactile surface that generates the proper bump patterns, it can 'read' anything he touches with it, then generate braille for him so that he knows what's around him or can use it to read like a sign on the wall or a flyer or a notice or.. or legal documents.
