I've been sitting on the deck of the Merry for the last few hours with a book. I'd like to be reading, but I keep staring out at the water. I had a really good time a few weeks back when we all switched powers and I got to swim in the sea for the first time.

Is it possible to feel nostalgic for something that didn't happen that long ago?

I don't see why not. Is there anything that will help your mood?

I'm glad for you to say that, I was starting to feel a little foolish.

It's not a bad feeling, I had such a good time that day with you and Zoro and I'm very pleased to have the memory of it.

What do you think about going on a picnic soon?

It's never foolish to have feelings, no matter how much it might feel like otherwise.

I would happily go on a picnic. Do you want to take one near the water? Somewhere with a good view?

Yes, this is true. I spent a long time ignoring many of mine, I'm happy I don't have to do that anymore.

That sounds lovely! Do you think Zoro would come along?

Me too. It's painful sometimes, particular with muleheaded lovers, but still.

He better or I'll tweak his ear until he gives in.

Ah yes. Those lovers can be particular frustrating. So I've witnessed.

I'm sure we can lure him out. ;)

I don't think it's that strange. I'm glad you were able to make those memories, even if the power swap was... strange.

It was, rather! I'm not sure it's something I'd want to do again, but I enjoyed not having to worry about sinking like a stone in the water.

Edwin, do you know if there is any kind of magic that might prevent me from doing that with my Devil Fruit powers?

I do not, but I don't see why there wouldn't be.

Let me check my books, and if you're up for some experimentation, I'm sure we will be able to figure something out.

If you think it would help figure something out, then yes! So long as we aren't experimenting in very deep water.

Can you not swim in fresh water? There's got to be a lake around here somewhere.

Unfortunately no. I'll sink in any body of water. It's really unfortunate, lakes are so beautiful.

What if it weren't deep enough to sink in?

I tend to loose all my energy whenever I'm submerged in even a little bit of water. But perhaps if it was shallow enough, it would be good to lounge in?

Sounds like a real drag. I wonder if there's a cure for that sort of thing in a place like this. Wouldn't be at all surprised.

Apologies for eavesdropping, if one can call it that, but is the issue with your sinking in water due to magic or is a density issue?

(Reply to this) (Thread)

[info]all_sunday
2024-05-24 04:11 am UTC (link)
No apologies needed as you certainly aren't eavesdropping. Where I'm from there are things called Devil Fruits. Those who eat them gain amazing powers and abilities, but at the price of never being able to go into the sea, or any other body of water again. It completely steals my energy, rendering me unable to even move.

The funny thing of it all is that time a few weeks back was the first time I had ever swam ever.

And now you've had a taste for it and can't stand a life without?
