Promposal!! Who: Rogier What: Rogier sings a promposal song for Sydney Where: The Barns Friday evening
Rogier was wearing his nicest outfit, which to anyone else's standards was probably a completely bonkers outfit, but Sydney had always seemed amused at his fashion choices and there was no way he was going to do this while wearing jeans or whatever like a barbarian. It was late evening at the Barns; Sydney was finishing up her work day when he began to play his lute, approaching the animal paddock and desperately trying not to step in shit, because that wouldn't be romantic at all.
And so he began to sing:
"Good afternoon there Sydney, I am sure that you might wonder Why it is I'm singing here; I swear it's not a blunder: it's a plea It's a song played on a lute for you and me
When I started writing this song down I thought about our history How we found each other is a classic Vallo mystery and rather mad I was nearly dead, and you were sad
I don't know much about your life or what had come before, I know even less about the future; I can't know what's in store and that's the worst. Cynicism's dictating this verse.
You saved me from a vicious curse I got from Lands Between, Before I make my intentions clear, I've brought you some caffeine; it's your fav--"
He pulled out a travel mug of her favorite latte and hurried it over to her, before resuming his song and managing the rhyme:
"...Hanging with you's better than the grave.
You've seen your people come and go, no power can prevent Sudden goodbyes and missed connections; it makes one discontent and quite depressed Home's a ghost that can't be laid to rest.
I wish that I could claim to know that we'll stay until we're old, But lying is the kind of comfort that makes you hate the cold, so here's a balm: I was wondering if you'd like to go to prom.
I'd like to see you get dressed up with your hair up in a twist, I want to buy a pricy flower and put it 'round your wrist; I know it's trite But I'd like to dance with you all through the night.
You're probably hoping that this song is winding down its chat. I hope that you'll consider me; I'll even wear the hat. Yes it's true: Uncertainty's a place I'll love with you. I'll relish every second if I'm with you."
Strumming the last bit softly, he let his fingers drop as he flashed her a big, winning smile that might have been a little nervous. A lot nervous.
